That would make sense if the max strength for a tier 1 character was 1,000 lbs, since you have to trade away your speed in order to be that strong, but the max for a human with no powers says half that. It seems like tier 2 is actually the max human level stuff (not slightly superior to human like it says) while tier one doesn't even bear mentioning. A balanced tier 1 character would only be able to lift about 200 pounds, jog at a speed of 3 mph, and take one or two punches before going down. That doesn't seem to even be worth putting on the scale.

Or am I reading it wrong and tier 1 is actually meant to be filled with sickly people like me in real life?

I've been getting curious lately about why various comic books and also this site claim that peak human strength is the ability to dead lift 600 lbs, so I went and looked it up. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the deadlift record is just a hair over 1,000 lbs. Which brings me to my question. Is there a particular reason that the "peak human" strength is 400 lbs short of actual peak human strength?

I'd rather not drop it, as it's probably his second most used weapon after the pistols (based on his fights as the Star Wars version), but I'd be happy to turn it down to just being painful/distracting. Will that work for you?

Edit: If the grip of your sword is made of a non-conductive material, that would insulate him from the electricity anyway when he blocked it, so I'd have to actually score a hit to cause electrical damage.

He has been shown to be capable of lifting a literal ton above his head, briefly sprinting at speeds up to 160 mph, and shrugging off impacts that sent him flying from the force they generated, as well as demonstrating reaction times well above the human norm. It is also known that he is not, thank the heavens, bulletproof. If one manages to hit a weak point in his armor, such as the joints, he will bleed. This is a more difficult task than one would expect, however, as he has often displayed reflexes that are on par with his foot speed.

Abilities:
Bloodshot has demonstrated master level marksmanship with both pistols and rifles, as well as proficient use of his melee weapons and knowledge of several unarmed techniques. His level of reflexes and accuracy with firearms is such that he has been seen to shoot grenades and other explosives out of the air in mid-combat, though his proficiency in melee and unarmed techniques is somewhat less advanced, likely due to the ability to simply overpower most opponents.

It has also been noted that Bloodshot possesses a keen tactical and scientific mind that allows him to rapidly re-assess developing situations to determine an optimal outcome, as well as the mental wherewithal to maintain a cool head in the midst of great physical pain and/or trauma. One incident records that he was able to out-think and subsequently escape a trap laid by a cadre of mercenaries sent to assassinate him, without his armor and after being severely burned in the initial assault. His scientific intelligence is of a sufficiently advanced level that he himself designed and created the specific materials used in his armor and weapons, as well as the software used to run its electronic systems.

The matte black armor that Bloodshot most commonly wears is of an advanced design that makes use of carbon nanotubes to create plating that is extremely light and moderately flexible, while also being both harder than diamond and stronger than steel. This flexibility makes the plating an excellent shock absorber, while its strength and hardness render it all but impenetrable to conventional firearms. The chest piece has been seen taking a hit from a .50 caliber sniper rifle with minimal damage, and while the simple impact force would kill a normal human regardless, Bloodshot managed to survive the shot (though he was forced to retreat from the engagement, so it is assumed he was significantly wounded by the impact).

While the armor plating is capable of surviving almost any form of injury a personal weapon can inflict, the body glove underneath has no such luxury. While it too utilizes carbon nanotubes in its construction, the concentration and density within the fabric is geared primarily toward maintaining flexibility and reducing/dispersing damage from explosions, and it cannot stand up to the concentrated impact force of even a small caliber bullet (.22 caliber rounds being a notable exception).

Another important feature of this armor is the inclusion of a nanotube cooling layer that both decreases the external temperature of the armor to match that of the surrounding environment and also maintains a constant and comfortable internal temperature, allowing it to appear cool and nearly invisible when viewed on thermal imaging systems. This trait also allows the suit to operate unhindered at temperatures of up to 2,000 degrees fahrenheit without causing increased strain to the wearer, though higher temperatures can quickly overwhelm the ability of the suit to compensate, roasting the wearer alive.

The armor also possesses advanced electronics that are capable of gathering and displaying vital battlefield data within the facemask's HUD, including penetrating radar, thermal, EM, and nightvision, and an auto-tint to prevent bright flashes from blinding him. Any relevant weaknesses:
Armor dependency. Bloodshot's facemask is fitted with a filtration unit that not only cleans the air as he breathes it, but also injects each breath with a minute amount of an unknown gas, without which Bloodshot will descend into increasingly drastic stages of mental degradation that remove his self-control and ability to think and reason properly, turning him into an unthinking being operating purely on rage and instinct.

Personality:
Cold, calculating, and clinical. Bloodshot was a child raised with the sole purpose of becoming the perfect soldier, and the extremely harsh treatment and training he received produced predictably harsh results. Mercy and compassion are words that have no merit in Bloodshot's view of the world, and while he is not a vindictive man, he is nevertheless a very dangerous one to cross. Something that those who trained him found out the hard way.

History/Backstory:
Born in the year 2142 into a world ravaged by war, Bloodshot's birth name was lost to the destruction that was wrought upon his homeland, the former United States of America. Fifty years before his birth, the country had torn itself in half in the second civil war of its globally short history, and that single conflict had pulled the rest of the world with it. While no one was willing to create a nuclear wasteland, both China and Russia took the opportunity to claim lands they had long since lost, while Europe was plunged into its own small re-enactment of world wars long past. As it always has, war paved the way for scientific advancement at a rate that far exceeded any of the advances made in the century before, and new weapons, technology, and soldiers were created by all sides in an attempt to maintain an even playing field.

Taken from his family as a child, Bloodshot's body was altered and enhanced to the very peak of human performance, and by the time he was twelve he could regularly compete against seasoned soldiers and emerge the victor. That was not the end of his alterations however, and when he reached the age of sixteen he was initiated into an experimental program that utilized microscopic nanomachines to enhance the user's physical condition, bonding to bones and muscles and nerves to increase strength, durability, speed, and reflexes. The process was imperfect, however, and without a near-constant application of a stabilizing agent, the nanites bonded to Bloodshot's nervous system begin to overwhelm his conscious thoughts with those of primal instinct and rage. Later iterations of the technology opted out of the nervous system bonding in order to fix the problem, but while these new soldiers were stable, they would never match up to Bloodshot and the other original subjects.

Due to the inherent instability of Bloodshot's nanites, he and his fellow test subjects were scheduled for "decommissioning", as there was no way to reverse the bonding process and an unstable soldier would be a liability on the battlefield. As they often do, however, plans went awry and a dozen subjects managed to escape the facility, taking with them the formula for the stabilizing agent and what little supply of it the lab had on hand. After the escape, they all went their separate ways, with Bloodshot becoming a mercenary available for hire to the highest bidder.

Several years into his work as a mercenary, Bloodshot discovered that the nanites bonded to his body had continued to multiply, providing an even more drastic boost to his strength, speed, durability, and reflexes. He was eventually able to slow this multiplication in order to prevent the nanites from completely taking over his body, though they are still programmed to temporarily increase their multiplication rate in the event of damage in order to self-repair.

Tier 6 Armor

Bloodshot's crowning achievement in the fields of science and technology, this armor enhancement appears to be little more than a new kind of body glove worn beneath his usual armor plating, and while that is what it is in essence, it is capable of much more than an ordinary body glove.

Composed primarily of carbon nanofibers, this variation of the standard body glove possesses a much higher density of nanofibers than are in the usual underarmor, and they are arranged, grouped, and designed in such a way that they can mimic the function of actual muscles. These synthetic muscles not only provide drastically increased durability when compared to the standard body glove, but also greatly enhanced strength, augmenting Bloodshot's already considerable might by a factor of 7 and allowing him to lift in the area of 35 tons. This increase in strength also allows him to move and strike faster, and he has been seen to reach speeds in excess of mach 1 on open ground, with stride length ranging in the area of dozens of meters. Understandably, this level of speed has a drastic effect on mobility, and as such is rarely utilized.

Durability-wise, this armor (sans plating) has been seen to withstand high-caliber armor-piercing rounds with little discomfort to the wearer, and with the armor plating added has been capable of resisting the impact of a round fired from an M1 abrams tank, such is the durability it provides. It is unknown if this level of durability extends to baseline humans as well, but theorized that it does not as the impact force alone would likely kill them, even given the fantastic shock absorbing capabilities of the nanofibers. This durability also extends to enhancing the armor's capability to resist temperatures, increasing the safe operating levels to 8,000 degrees.

The armor is powered by a series of carbon batteries housed throughout its synthetic muscle tissue, which provide both high level storage and high level output, unlike more traditional batteries, as well as being paper-thin and flexible enough to avoid hindering the armor's capabilities. These batteries are charged both by un-powered movement of the armor, as well as any errant electrical discharges the suit may encounter. These electrical discharges can range from simple static generated by friction, to a full-blown lightning strike. In the event of an overload, safeties are triggered and the excess electricity is re-directed to the surface of the suit, where it can simply continue its journey to ground itself.

Stealth Armor

This variation of Bloodshot's standard armor lacks all the armor plating of its predecessor with the exception of the facemask and gauntlets, which are variations themselves of the standard gauntlets, this time with the blades fitted to the underside and extending beneath his hands. The plating of the mask and gauntlets is also less durable overall, owing to the inclusion of a light and sound absorbing polymer in their construction. They are still nonetheless durable enough to withstand small arms fire with no damage.

The body glove of this variation has likewise been altered with the same light and sound absorbing polymer as the gauntlets and facemask, allowing it to blend seamlessly into almost any nighttime shadow, as well as produce only a minute fraction of the noise that human movement would normally generate. In order to compensate for the reduced durability caused by the lack of armor plating, the areas of the body glove that cover vital organs and do not cover joints are reinforced with extra layers of carbon nanofibers, making the majority of the suit highly resistant to small arms fire while maintaining near-perfect agility and maneuverability.

Name: Ahven Maldrich.

Occupation: Demon Hunter.

Age: Early sixties, appears in his twenties.

Race: Former human, current half-breed (demon and human).

Appearance: Tall at 6’4” and slender at 200 pounds, Ahven possessed a lithe strength and speed that made him a formidable combatant even before his transformation, which only increased his physical capabilities further. In addition, the presence of demon blood in his body has turned his hair white, skin pale, and eyes a deep silver-red hue.

History: Born into a world on the brink of war, Ahven was trained from childhood to become a hunter of demons and drive them back to the realm from which they came. This task is not a simple one, as it is the magic, or essence, from the demon realm that powers the technology from the human one, and to seal the breaches entirely would destroy a civilization. Instead, once the effects that demon blood could have on a human were discovered, the hunters were created; humans that have consumed the blood of demons and survived. Doing so granted them access to the essence of the demons power and they became more than human; living conduits for the energy that is drawn from the demon realm to power the expansion of industry. Ahven was sixteen when he and eleven others went through the ritual to become a full hunter; seven of them were killed outright by the process while three more were driven insane. Of the original dozen students, only two passed through the final test unscathed. Since that time, Ahven has worked tirelessly to perfect the gifts his demon blood has granted him and become one of the foremost hunters to date, far surpassing the median life expectancy of forty-two years.

Powers: Demonic Blood.

Granted by his demon blood, Ahven possesses physical capabilities far superior to any human, allowing him to lift one ton of weight above his head, maintain a pace of thirty miles per hour for an extended period of time, react to movements that a human eye would not even perceive, and easily withstand blows from those who are his equal in strength. His eyesight has been altered to see clearly in darkness and at greater distance than a human, while his hearing and smell have become comparable to those of predatory animals. His blood as well has been altered, gaining a corrosive quality due to the demonic essence it is imbued with and rendering him resistant to poison and disease. If injured non-fatally, his body will repair the damage quickly enough to prevent the wound from becoming fatal in time, but only to the point where death is averted. To heal himself fully requires either time or an expenditure of energy.

Abilities: Essence Manipulation.

Due to his connection with the energy of the demon realm (via his now-demonic blood), Ahven has access to several forms of demon magic, though all require a portion of the same energy. He cannot be harmed by his own energy, and any of his own offensive spells he is in range of will have no affect on him.

Essence Shift.
Teleportation would be a more common name for this ability, though in truth it is a method of traversing between dimensions as much as transporting oneself from one point to another within the same realm. This ability is what allows hunters to follow the demons to their own realm to destroy the portals they’ve created, then traverse back due to their human connection with their own realm. A hunter is the only known being that can pass back and forth entirely at will. When used to alter one’s location within the same realm, the range of this ability is limited to roughly 25 meters, though can be increased by using a greater amount of energy. For every five seconds spent charging this ability (one post), its range is double (50 meters after one charge post, 100 after two, and so on). Due to the strain this ability places on the hunter's mind, it is extremely inadvisable to utilize it more than once in succession, as doing so causes great mental fatigue after two consecutive shifts and outright unconsciousness after three.

Essence Binding.
As the name suggests, this spell is a method of attaching one object to another by binding them together with demonic essence. The strength of this bond, as well as the range of it, is determined by the amount of energy put into the spell, with the binding strength doubling every five seconds the spell is charged. At a base level, the binding force is enough to restrain a hunter (barring the use of essence to escape) and slow down even the strongest of demons (enough to hold a being with 2 ton strength), and the radius of the effect is 1 meter. With each charge, both the binding strength and the effect radius are doubled, though range can also be sacrificed for another equal increase in binding strength and vice-versa (4 tons and 0 meters with no charge, 8 tons and 1 meter with 1 charge, or 2 tons and 16 meters with 2 charges). The duration of this spell is 10 seconds (those caught in it will be immobilized for one full post, and two partial posts) by default, though can be increased based upon the same formula as the range and binding force if the potency of one of them is sacrificed. Physical contact is necessary for the activation of this spell, and it is centered on either Ahven himself or the object he is touching.

Essence Transfer.
The transfer of essence allows Ahven to strike much harder, move much faster, and withstand more damage than would otherwise be possible by releasing a portion of his energy into either his physical body or an adjacent object on contact. The rate of transfer is equal to the maximum force/energy he can exert with a purely physical action, multiplied by a factor of 10. With every five seconds of charge, the power of the action is doubled.

Demonic Awareness.
A sixth sense, so to speak, this ability is derived from the essence that Ahven is continuously "leaking" into the world around himself and the way in which it interacts with other objects and energies. Within 25 meters, he can sense any object and most energies around himself with unerring accuracy, though must still focus his attention if he is attempting to perceive any great detail. Within 50 meters, he can sense people and their energy fields, but is unable to distinguish significant detail even when focused. Within 100 meters, he can sense only general shapes and large amounts of energy. Beyond 100 meters this sense is blind to the world. Due to the nature of this energy being tuned to Ahven himself, it is undetectable even to other hunters, though his body's natural energy field can still be detected.

Non-combat abilities.

Meditative Restoration.
By focusing his supply of demonic essence within his own body, Ahven can use it to rejuvenate his own physical energy and well-being, healing wounds and counteracting even the poisons and diseases potent enough to affect him. To do this, however, he must be able to concentrate completely on the task.

Essence Attunement.
Ahven is capable of sensing his own energy over vast distances, allowing him to easily determine the location of any traps he has set or any items powered by his essence.

Equipment: Essence-based technology.

Short by most standards (half a meter blade length), these twin blades are nevertheless exceedingly effective at what they are designed to do. Fortified with enchantments that render them wholly unyielding as well as eternally sharp, they are the primary weaponry given to a demon hunter upon graduation, to then be enchanted further as each hunter desires. Ahven decided to forego any further enchantments in favor of the efficiency provided by simplicity, and thus far it has served him exceedingly well.

Pistols.
Powered by the demonic energy his body generates, these twin pistols are designed to store and release that energy on command in short but volatile projectile bursts. The mechanics of the weapon allow it to compress and multiply the force of the energy into a more destructive, yet much more precise attack than Ahven is capable of on his own, and the range of the weapon is also a distinct advantage against purely melee foes. Each projectile will travel for a distance of 1,000 meters before dissipating, and the force with which it strikes is equal to the force of his strongest physical blow multiplied by a factor of ten, then compressed into a space no more than a single centimeter across and fired at a speed of mach 2. Charging the weapon requires both time and concentration, and allows him to fire 7 times before needing to replenish. The replenishment process itself is similar to that of restoration, and cannot be done in combat.

Traps.
Small disks that can easily fit in the palm of a hand, a hunter’s trap is a device designed to temporarily contain demonic essence while in a volatile state. To arm a trap, a demon hunter will simply cast the desired spell into the device, which will then create an appropriate seal to contain the energy. To detonate the trap, the seal can either be altered to decay at a specified rate, resulting in a delayed detonation, or simply destroyed remotely by the hunter who set the trap. When active, a trap will expand to four times its inactive size, making the transportation of more than a handful of armed traps difficult at best. Energy requirements are equal to those of the standard spells, with the only difference being the remote/ranged capability a trap provides. Ahven possesses 12 of these devices.

Armor.
With the exception of his bracers, which are an enchanted metal that can withstand blows from even the strongest of demons, Ahven’s armor is lightly enchanted leather designed to provide maximum agility and an increased ability to blend silently into shadows and darkness.

Weaknesses:
Bright light.
Due to his ability to see in near-total darkness, his eyes are very sensitive to bright light and sudden flashes can disorient and/or blind him temporarily (he generally wears a hood to help compensate for this).

Holy magic.
While his human side does provide some resistance to this, any use of holy magic against him will bypass the resistances granted by his demonic blood and affect him as it would a normal human.

This is a character of mine I've adapted from a star wars site where I used him in arena combat. He's geared to fight master-level jedi and sith (though for this iteration I'll just make him futuristic human), so you'll probably have to gear up yourself as well.

Bloodshot

Powers:
Very little is known about Bloodshot's actual appearance beneath his armor, as no one can definitively say they have ever seen him outside of it (or one of its many variations), but what is know is that he is physically very far from what one would call a "normal human". He has been shown to be capable of lifting a literal ton above his head, briefly sprinting fast enough to keep up with highway traffic, and shrugging off impacts that sent him flying from the force they generated, as well as demonstrating reaction times well above the human norm. It is also known that he is not, thank the heavens, bulletproof. If one manages to hit a weak point in his armor, such as the joints, he will bleed. This is a more difficult task than one would expect, however, as he has often displayed reflexes that are on par with his foot speed.

Abilities:
Bloodshot has demonstrated master level marksmanship with both pistols and rifles, as well as proficient use of his melee weapons and knowledge of several unarmed techniques. His level of reflexes and accuracy with firearms is such that he has been seen to shoot grenades and other explosives out of the air in mid-combat, though his proficiency in melee and unarmed techniques is somewhat less advanced, likely due to the ability to simply overpower most opponents.

It has also been noted that Bloodshot possesses a keen tactical and scientific mind that allows him to rapidly re-assess developing situations to determine an optimal outcome, as well as the mental wherewithal to maintain a cool head in the midst of great physical pain and/or trauma. One incident records that he was able to out-think and subsequently escape a trap laid by a cadre of mercenaries sent to assassinate him, without his armor and after being severely burned in the initial assault. His scientific intelligence is of a sufficiently advanced level that he himself designed and created the specific materials used in his armor and weapons, as well as the software used to run its electronic systems.

Equipment:
Armor.
The matte black armor that Bloodshot most commonly wears is of an advanced design that makes use of carbon nanotubes to create plating that is extremely light and moderately flexible, while also being both harder than diamond and stronger than steel. This flexibility makes the plating an excellent shock absorber, while its strength and hardness render it all but impenetrable to conventional firearms. The chest piece has been seen taking a hit from a .50 caliber sniper rifle with minimal damage, and while the simple impact force would kill a normal human regardless, Bloodshot managed to survive the shot (though he was forced to retreat from the engagement, so it is assumed he was significantly wounded by the impact).

While the armor plating is capable of surviving almost any form of injury a personal weapon can inflict, the body glove underneath has no such luxury. While it too utilizes carbon nanotubes in its construction, the concentration and density within the fabric is geared primarily toward maintaining flexibility and reducing/dispersing damage from explosions, and it cannot stand up to the concentrated impact force of even a small caliber bullet (.22 caliber rounds being a notable exception).

The armor also possesses advanced electronics that are capable of gathering and displaying vital battlefield data within the facemask's HUD, including penetrating radar, thermal, EM, and nightvision, and an auto-tint to prevent bright flashes from blinding him. The armor's sound systems are likewise enhanced, and allow him to both increase sensitivity and focus to hear distant conversations, as well as activate an auto-decrease feature to prevent excessively loud noises from causing damage to his hearing.

Weapons:
2 - .45 caliber pistols that hold 15 rounds per magazine. Descendants of the Glock pistols of the 21st century and comparable in power and functionality.
1 - Single edged sword. 36" titanium-carbon alloy blade. More durable than his armor, though much less flexible. With Bloodshot's strength behind it, this blade is capable of slicing cleanly through a conventional steel blade with no damage to itself.
1 - Retractable staff. Titanium-carbon shaft. Length varies between 2' and 6'. When retracted, the entire length of the staff (or each half of it separately) is capable of emitting an electrical charge strong enough to easily kill a human (when extended, only the last foot on each end of the staff possesses this ability). The electrical charge can be also be varied to simply incapacitate or cause pain, and the weapon possesses friend or foe analysis hardware to prevent Bloodshot himself from being electrocuted.
2 - Gauntlet blades. 12" titanium-carbon alloy blades that extend from the armor's gauntlets over the back of Bloodshot's hands.

Any relevant weaknesses:
Armor dependency. Bloodshot's facemask is fitted with a filtration unit that not only cleans the air as he breathes it, but also injects each breath with a minute amount of an unknown gas, without which Bloodshot will descend into increasingly drastic stages of mental degradation that remove his self-control and ability to think and reason properly, turning him into an unthinking being operating purely on rage and instinct.

Personality:
Cold, calculating, and clinical. Bloodshot was a child raised with the sole purpose of becoming the perfect soldier, and the extremely harsh treatment and training he received produced predictably harsh results. Mercy and compassion are words that have no merit in Bloodshot's view of the world, and while he is not a vindictive man, he is nevertheless a very dangerous one to cross. Something that those who trained him found out the hard way.

History/Backstory:
Born in the year 2142 into a world ravaged by war, Bloodshot's birth name was lost to the destruction that was wrought upon his homeland, the former United States of America. Fifty years before his birth, the country had torn itself in half in the second civil war of its globally short history, and that single conflict had pulled the rest of the world with it. While no one was willing to create a nuclear wasteland, both China and Russia took the opportunity to claim lands they had long since lost, while Europe was plunged into its own small re-enactment of world wars long past. As it always has, war paved the way for scientific advancement at a rate that far exceeded any of the advances made in the century before, and new weapons, technology, and soldiers were created by all sides in an attempt to maintain an even playing field.

Taken from his family as a child, Bloodshot's body was altered and enhanced to the very peak of human performance, and by the time he was twelve he could regularly compete against seasoned soldiers and emerge the victor. That was not the end of his alterations however, and when he reached the age of sixteen he was initiated into an experimental program that utilized microscopic nanomachines to enhance the user's physical condition, bonding to bones and muscles and nerves to increase strength, durability, speed, and reflexes. The process was imperfect, however, and without a near-constant application of a stabilizing agent, the nanites bonded to Bloodshot's nervous system begin to overwhelm his conscious thoughts with those of primal instinct and rage. Later iterations of the technology opted out of the nervous system bonding in order to fix the problem, but while these new soldiers were stable, they would never match up to Bloodshot and the other original subjects.

Due to the inherent instability of Bloodshot's nanites, he and his fellow test subjects were scheduled for "decommissioning", as there was no way to reverse the bonding process and an unstable soldier would be a liability on the battlefield. As they often do, however, plans went awry and a dozen subjects managed to escape the facility, taking with them the formula for the stabilizing agent and what little supply of it the lab had on hand. After the escape, they all went their separate ways, Bloodshot becoming a mercenary available for hire to the highest bidder.

By my estimation, he's either high tier 4 or low tier 5, so feel free to adjust accordingly. If you'd want to go for full tier 5 though, I also have armor enhancements that would put him firmly within that category.
