Maskboy responded affirmative, and Sato stepped back a bit. He’d intended to make some kind of conversation but it appeared that the guitarist needed to go get ready or something as he immediately dismissed Sato to head over to the stage. Sato returned back to Rento, slumping back down the wall and sitting next to the boy. ”It seems he’ll be playing today. I wonder what kind of song he’ll do after the crowd was just listening to idol stuff. It’d be a bit of a sudden transition to go so acoustic in my opinion.”

Rento cocked his head back towards the idols on stage. ”I dunno. I’m only here for Azure 5, man, so I’m really to blow this joint as soon as they wrap it up.” The two teens watched the girls on stage close off their performance, and only as men started to carry away some of the equipment and such did they rise from the ground, walking towards the exit they came from. As they drew close to the stage, Maskboy took the front, fiddling with something before facing the crowd with a guitar in hand. They were rather close to the stage, so Sato could see the male was pretty into playing the instrument, even playing to the point of a crimson leaking onto his guitar from his nimble hands. The crowd seemed rather apathetic towards this seemingly random guy playing, only a few bothering to cheer on the young male, though the lack of response seemed to not deter Maskboy much as he continued on to another song. ”Geez, is that kid wearing a bloodpack or something? Playing way too hard.”

Sato had no idea about the peculiarities of guitar-playing, so the third-year just nodded in response to Rento’s comment. Neither boys were very interested in the music Maskboy was playing, seeing as they both came prepared for something rather different, and left the complex just as Maskboy got interrupted by some orange-haired girl. With nothing left to do for the day, Sato and Rento went their separate ways, the former heading straight home and lazing away the rest of the day.

Sato Hashimoto // Shinza Shopping Square
MAY 3RD 2015, SUNDAY

Sato yawned, stretching his back as he walked down the street. He had stayed up late last night, marathoning some new sentai show he’d found. Though he had fallen asleep somewhere around episode 17, leaving seven more to finish that evening, Sato found himself enticed by it despite the plot being rather lacklustre. Super sentai will always be his guilty pleasure.

Being drop-dead tired and wanting to get outside at least once on the last day of Golden Week, Sato decided to get some kind of coffee. He’d already read through the three novels he’d bought the other day prior to binge-watching sentai, so heading over to the Yoshida Book Café seemed the best idea. He’d seen it when he was cutting through Shinza one time. It wasn’t hard to find again, seeing as it was on the only path he’d taken.

The teen entered the book café, taking in the scent of coffee and the possibly imagined smell of old books both at once. It seemed nice enough. Sato wandered over to the front desk, money already in his hand. He ordered a heavily caffeinated coffee, and, assuming it’d take a bit to get his drink ready, wandered off into the maze of bookshelves to find something he was interested in reading. He managed to pick up a few crime novels after a quick scan of the section he was in. With the books in hand, the male stepped away from the walls of literature and over to a nearby table, disregarding the one girl already seated there. It wasn’t like anyone would care if they were into what they were reading.

Though… as he set down the two books before him, Sato couldn’t help but look at the girl. An awfully familiar one, with a face that provoked unpleasant memories. The girl from the maid café? He wasn’t entirely sure, so he didn’t say anything yet, but as he skimmed through the first chapter, the urge was too great. ”Sorry, miss,” Sato blurted out, swiftly closing the cover. ”but don’t I know you from somewhere? I’m Hashimoto Sato. Did we not meet at the, err… maid café, the other week?”

I somehow missed the part where Alexai takes his shirt off in that scene. It's amazing what you notice on NG+.

Don't lie, Itano. We all know you're saving yourself for Leiko in the beach episode.

“You had my note?” he asked with a deep harsh voice and a strongly
marked German accent. “I told you that I would call.” He looked from one
to the other of us, as if uncertain which to address.

“Pray take a seat,” said Holmes. “This is my friend and colleague, Dr.
Watson, who is occasionally good enough to help me in my cases. Whom
have I the honour to address?”

Sato! The teen looked up from his book, meeting the eyes of his fellow student. ”How can ya even read in a place like this? And with those girls on the stage?” Rento’s eyes were locked on to the stage, only flicking a glance over in Sato’s direction as he spoke. The two males were positioned at the back wall, much to Rento’s frustration. They could hear the music plenty clearly but the waves of people and the obvious distance obscured their view of the actual stage. Sato sat cross-legged, focused on the book he was reading, occasionally stopping to peck at the salad balanced on his lap.

”I’m not really that into this stuff actually,” Sato replied, looking up from the words on the page momentarily. He’d thought it’d be something to do but watching these cutesy girls dance around and sing a type of music he didn’t even really like wasn’t doing it for him. He’d bought a few books as he was walking to the food court, being unable to resist a good deal on his favorite genre. ”There wasn’t much else going on for me this week, so I thought I’d keep you company instead of reading by my lonesome. Though, I can’t say it’s a very pleasant audial experience.”

Rento leaned back into the wall, a bit of a grimace on his face. ”Man, I can’t enjoy this if you’re not into it too. Way to kill a guy’s mood.” Sato frowned. Rento probably would’ve found someone else to go with him had he not went, and he felt bad for being a killjoy. What an extrovert this guy was. It wasn’t until Rento spoke up again did Sato realise he was leaning into him, pointing at someone out of the crowd. ”Hey, look at mask boy over there. Weird, eh? Lugging a guitar ‘round the mall…”

Sato looked over at whoever Rento was gesturing towards, which proved easy enough. There was, after all, only one young man carrying a guitar on his back and an unusual mask on his face. It would’ve been understandable had it been the typical kind of mask people wore, but this was a bit more… out there. Definitely not disposable. Mind the guitar too, the possibly more interesting part. His curiosity was rising, and when Rento elbowed him in the side, it got the best of him. Sato rose to his feet, passing off the half-finished salad to Rento and shoving the novel into his coat pocket.

As he approached the boy, Sato noticed the young man had his eyes closed, presumably focusing on something and/or listening to the music as he walked. Sato scratched the back of his head a bit before speaking up. ”Excuse me, sir, but will you be playing today? I’m just curious.” He glanced over to Rento, who gave a simple thumbs up back. Whatever the idols were performing ended, and as they began to transition to the next song, the roar of the crowd filled the mall. Sato never fancied unruly crowds live performances of stuff like idols and rock bands always brought with them. As he waited for the crowd to die down and the young man to reply, Sato watched the boy carefully, looking for a sign of annoyance.
