What Lucy did not expect was that flash. It ruined her plans, and her vision, for the moment. It'd come back, she knew that. What she didn't know is who she hit, being blinded like that caused her to panic release a Burst she was charging up, the drain hitting her like a sack of wet potatoes. Thankfully, it hit no one, but it sheared off a few trees and ripped all the branches off several others, the resulting boom and crack drawing attention to her area. This was a problem, if that enemy Arms Master looked her way... No, can't think about that now. She wouldn't stop trying, not while they still exist.
"Everyone alive?" She asked, to be met with pained grunts and a few noises of acknowledgement. Think, think. Time to think. She can't see, so she couldn't shoot the fucker. Think... If only Daedalus had eyes, wait. That's what she should do. Might not be the smartest idea but... She fumbles for her radio, shouldering against what she thinks is cover. "Ground troops, if you see or hear a chain move close, say the word 'gold' over comms, if you need help from a threat, say 'green'." A moving chain? One other soldier let out a confused mouth noise, as it would be described by Lucy. Soon after that, a series of three bladed chains erupt from Daedalus, one coiling around her immediate surroundings. The other two extend to their maximum length, fifty whole meters, covering a hundred combined. She tears off her helmet, then grabs one chain with her thumb and index, and the other with her middle and ring finger. Those two extended chains slowly snake across the battlefield. Thankfully, there's not many people shooting anymore, so it's a tad quieter now.
She hushes the thoughts in her head, listening to the surroundings and impacts from the chains hitting things. While she may not be able to see right now, or feel with Daedalus, she can listen and feel impacts on those chains with her hand. Can't keep em out forever, but she doesn't need forever, only a few moments until her vision comes back, letting those blinded chains try to find Huo Ren, even if he's not too close. If she can find him before he finds her... That'd be helpful. Yet another unexpected thing, a powerful thump coming from afar, plus the crack whizz of a round flying by. That couldn't have been an enemy, could it? She couldn't afford to find out, she's not dead after all. Only if she had some form of premonition, or extra sensory perception. That'd be useful, but Lucy is limited to a mortal, albeit magical, coil.
Tentative interest. I got a character concept for a hacker who lugs around a shotty, using an element or two from other media I like. I say tentative interest because my life has been a bit of a mess recently, so I can't guarantee I'd be here the entire time.
(Due to being skipped without permission last round, this post is a double post to accommodate for lost time.)
"Holy shit!" A soldier's voice rang out, "That was better than expected..." the girl thought, glancing down at Daedalus, she didn't feel much from that. If anything, she felt good after that. "... What's gotten into you?" Not to stare a gift in it's face, she dropped back down firing at enemies. Two, three more dead. Lucy's fireteam was also putting in good work as well, dropping a few of the assholes on the other side of the beach. Then it hit, a bullet slamming into Daedalus, spalling off fragments into her vest. She was fine, her shirt though, definitely has looked better. Then it hit again, not a bullet, but a high, almost like a drug. Time indeed seemed to slow down for her, a bullet barely grazing her other shoulder. It stung, but something told her she would be fine. A third bullet flew by, passing through the arm of one of her comrades with... Silence? Somehow, that guy is still firing back, one of the others pulling him down to try and patch him up.
Her barrel moved, focusing on the shooter. One, two, three. She felt like she had all the time in the world to line up those shots. One through the lung, the other through the gut, the third through the neck. That felt deserved, that guy just shot her allies, though she didn't think much of it, pulling out her empty mag and slotting in a new one. Something caught her eye, a lens glint? She flicked her rifle into that direction. "Crap." A sniper team. Her hand moves to tap the shoulder of the guy to her right, the guy she's been pestering a lot. Hopefully he's not too angry after this. "Shooters, patrol boats." She points to said boats, the soldier nodding, commenting back "We fire, then move two meters to the right under cover, pop up, fire again. You got it?" Lucy trains her sights on one. "Aye." They both open fire, Lucy then learns it's not just her who's more precise, it's everyone. Those shots land accurately, promptly ducking down, following the soldier, popping back up, then finishing what they could of the snipers off.
Lucy continues to engage the enemy. Some Arm Masters pride themselves on their Noble Arm, Lucy doesn't, guns are still a primary form of combat for her. She continues to send down enemies with her gun, thankfully everyone else is keeping some enemies tied up as well. That was, until she saw enemies vanish. People she swore she killed, vanished. Blink after blink, some of her fireteam was concerned too. "What do you think this means?" one asked Lucy. She merely sniffed in response, following with "Some kinda Arms Master. Never seen a tank vanish, though. One trick pony?"
"Don't be so sure about that, hoss." another said, "You ever see an entire army just vanish?"
"But, why would they disappear even the dead?" the first responded.
The girl sits down in the trench, setting her rifle down as well. "Maybe they can consume anything and everything to generate immense power." the one to the right comments in "Or they're rebuilding their army, I don't wanna go through that slog again."
"Neither do I, man, hopefully we can kill that guy if he is restoring an army. Where do you bet he is?" another asks
"Hiding, in a tree, or on a ship. Maybe even underwater. Could be a fish, I've seen one Arms Master hold their breath for a long time." the girl would consider out loud, tilting her head down and squinting.
"A fish? Don't kid me, how would they see everyone to return?"
"Hm, you're right." Lucy responds. She looks upwards, letting out a sigh. "Wait..." her hand clasps around her gun. "Boss?" one asks. "Clouds are gone." "What?" "Look, clouds are gone." "Oh man, why would they get rid of the clouds?" Lucy thinks about this for a moment. "Airborne attack, got rid of the clouds to see us all." one soldier freaks out a bit, visibly nervous and shifting in place "They're gonna try to wipe us out in a fell swoop?" The Arms Master mutters under her breath. "Cover, now. NOW." With that, the group scrambles for as much cover as they can get, sheltering in place. That's when they felt the heat, the raw heat from the sun. Lucy didn't spot it, because who would stare at the sun? But there was a second sun attacking them. Damn that soldier for being correct, tensing up against the sound of a line of fury wail against the barrier. There's no way that's staying up now.
After it passed, she pulled out her radio. "Arms Master Lucy, with associated fireteam... We're alive. Requesting tasking, I don't see any close enemies, tell me what to do." Now, she just hoped someone would give her something useful to do. "Fuuuuck..." A soldier groaned out, "What the fuck was that?" The girl sits herself back up, shaking her head. "Don't want to know. Don't want it to happen again." Her head cranes from side to side, spotting the resulting fires. "We're pretty lucky to be alive. We need to get out of here, this gift isn't gonna last long. Relocate, get near a vehicle." With that, she retreats from the line, her fireteam following her. There's nothing they can do here, if they don't get an evac call, Lucy would probably consider the commanding officer somewhat insane, though a thought creeps up. If they didn't kill whatever launched that attack, they'd just do it again. "Someone look around us." One soldier nods and does so, quickly yapping back "Clear, I don't see anything." "Unless we learn where that attacker is, there's nothing we can do, Daedalus doesn't have extreme range. All we can do is protect the command."
CL: Icarus's Wing was replaced with Prometheus's Chains, as Wing was too OP in hindsight. Extended ranking system introduced. Rogue artifact from Google docs removed
Noble Arm Name & Appearance: Time Of Change, or more commonly called Change, is a Noble Arm resembling a crimson red sword, paired with a sheath. Said sheath hooks onto Wilhelm’s belt. The sword itself has an overly ornate handguard and pommel design complete with gold inlays, more closely resembling a sword meant for ceremonies than a weapon of war.
Noble Arm Rank: A
Noble Arm Type, Element, and Range: Multipurpose, Change/Destruction, Close-Medium-Long.
Noble Arm Abilities:
Emperor’s Lance - A series of red lances that appears over Wilhelm’s shoulder, a maximum of 8 can appear at a time. When a lance is launched, it guides itself towards anything within vision of Wilhelm’s choosing, with a maximum speed of Mach 4.6 and a range of 10 nautical miles, leaving a ghostly red trail to Wilhelm’s location. Upon contact, the lance will violently explode, capable of destroying the toughest of tanks in a single hit and tearing a ship’s hull open. When lances are used, they will replenish over time, one every 15 seconds. Alternatively, he can fire off one massive lance, resulting in an incredibly massive and destructive explosion wherever it hits. If a lance is deflected, it proceeds to immediately explode, wherever it is.
Royal Guard - When Change is drawn from its sheath, Royal Guard automatically activates. If willed, Change is able to cut through almost anything, including Noble Arms, with some effort. Change can also extend its cutting abilities beyond the tip of the blade, allowing it to slice through something 20 meters long in one strike. The effect of this means melee combat is practically guaranteed to result in the death of Wilhelm’s opponent. Engagement is not recommended.
Empire’s Shield - A defensive barrier that surrounds Wilhelm, capable of withstanding the firepower of an entire fleet attacking him at once. This barrier creates a red and gold translucent sphere around Wilhelm, indicating when it’s active. This barrier can be dispelled at will, plus shows heavy resistance against attacks from other Noble Arms.
Emperor’s Wrath - Arguably Wilhelm’s strongest attack, he can use Change to manipulate the ground and water itself. He can lift pillars of dirt and rock into the air, sink massive areas of ground, generate tsunamis and earthquakes, and even collapse cities. Anywhere he uses this ability will result in its landscape being permanently changed. If this attack is focused on someone, he can use it to surround them in rock, then pull them into the ground and crush them to death. When used on a wide scale, this power quickly drains Change’s energy.
Empire’s Cloak - An interesting ability. When active, Wilhelm appears to disappear and cannot be tracked by almost all means. When in this state, Wilhelm cannot leave it unless he appears nearby a location of mass hatred, such as a city-large riot, or conflict, such as a war. Even then, he can choose not to leave it. Such an ability results in him being incredibly hard to contain and able to traverse the globe alone, meaning he can appear anywhere at any time, so long as conditions are met. It appears Wilhelm still experiences aging in this state, with it also appearing that the majority of Wilhelm’s existence has been in this state.
Misc Abilities: In the time Wilhelm has been spotted, he has shown interesting attributes. He’s shown to be a powerful commander, smart, and full of motivational speeches. His other abilities remain unclear, due to how little people have contact with him. Another thing known about Wilhelm is his fluency in several languages, mostly European languages.
Personality: Wilhelm, when seen, shows an incredibly calm demeanor, even when in battle. He appears to treat his “allies” with respect, even if they show no respect towards him in return. He also shows respect towards his enemies, frequently lamenting about how if neither side engaged in war, soldiers like Wilhelm would not be needed.
Fears: It’s not clear what Wilhelm fears, but studying his actions leads researchers to believe he fears losing, alongside gaining enemies outside his current battle.

JS: [Ruffling of papers, movement of a chair.]
JS: So, what do we know about this guy, this mysterious fucking A rank no one can keep within their borders.
AW: Oh, right, Emperor-General Wilhelm.
JS: That’s what he calls himself? He doesn’t lead shit.
AW: Yes, indeed, that’s his self proclaimed title. What we do know is that he constantly portrays himself as a leader of a massive empire, even though said empire doesn’t exist.
JS: Well, why does he think he leads an empire?
AW: That’s the uh, interesting part. We’re not completely sure, but we believe that is an effect of Wilhelm’s Noble Arm. Alongside adjusting his appearance, which we cannot find such a record of a person like him existing in our allied countries, changed him to believe he’s an ever important leader. Before you ask, we also think his Noble Arm is responsible for sustaining his existence, keeping his body... Incredibly healthy.
JS: What’s the leading theory on where he comes from? If we figure out where he’s from, we could give those governments more information.
AW: Recordings of his speeches indicate he has a pretty heavy German accent, alongside that, Wilhelm is a polyglot. He’s been observed to speak French, English, German, Swedish, and potentially even more languages, so we think he comes from Europe.
JS: Has the German government come up with interesting details about this guy?
AW: Unfortunately, no, their investigation hasn't been completed. What they have shared isn’t too conducive to uh, our goal of finding out who he was.
JS: You also mentioned that your team thinks his Noble Arm changed his mind, to make him believe he’s an Emperor-General. Do you think that effect could be spread to other people?
AW: If it can, Wilhelm hasn’t demonstrated it at all, even in situations where it would be beneficial for him to uh, indoctrinate others to his will, so we think it’s isolated to only him. Despite all that, he appears to be sane, so he isn’t exactly crazy. Just delusional, it appears.
JS: We’re dealing with a delusional egomaniac, do you think this would look good if the public found out?
AW: N-no, sir, that’s why you tasked us to this goal, isn’t it?
JS: So, how do we contain this guy? A rogue A rank is no laughing matter, it’s fucking good the public don’t know much about this guy.
AW: That’s the thing... We’re not sure we can kee-
JS: [Increasingly frustrated] You CANNOT?! This guy represents a massive risk to national security for basically everyone!
AW: Y-Yes... I know how it sounds, but we think he keeps himself in check. He’s only been spotted near conflicts, so it’s incredibly unlikely he’s just gonna run around blowing up cities.
JS: Riight. Hope is not a scalable strategy, Williams.
AW: I know, I know. We think with the rising tensions between China and most ASEAN countries, he’s going to show up in that region sometime soon. We think we can try out a strategy there, assuming ASEAN accepts our plan once ready...
JS: Which is?
AW: We need an Arms Master with the capability to severely weaken his powers, then we can bring him into custody and inhibit his powers even further, but I’m not sure we have an Arms Master capable of this feat.
JS: Sounds reasonable, send the plan over, I’ll find teams up to the task.
AW: It’s not complete yet but... It should be, very soon.

Lucy and the soldiers around her had opened fire on enemy forces. She wondered why the enemy had decided to engage like this. Hearing the calls on the radio... Defending the girl with the shield sounded good, but she had heard about the isolated Arms Master. "Where is he?" She thought, glancing back and forth while dropping another enemy soldier. Through her scope, she saw one enemy point... Up, to their fighters? No, to that Arms Master she saw rush in. The one beyond the wall. Lucy also witnessed some tanks, amphibious craft, amongst other things. She lowers her gun, grabbing the shoulder of a regular who's reloading with Daedalus, although very gently.
"You, what kind of anti-vehicle weapons do we have?" She asks, staring at the regular, thankfully he provides a quick response. "Portable rockets, TOWs, that kind of thing. What do you suggest?" He spoke out, cautiously glancing at the Noble Arm. Lucy takes a moment to think, letting go of his shoulder, "Ask to get some rockets on those vehicles and infantry threatening the flying guy, he's making himself a target, everyone's gonna shoot at him now. Not even the strongest can sustain that kind of attention." In response, he nods, barking into his radio. "An Arms Master is requesting we utilize RPGs against infantry and vehicles to defend the Arms Master in the air beyond the shield! Get some TOWs on the tanks too, use whatever you have to spare!"
With that, rockets fire out towards hostile vehicles and infantry, whizzing past other rounds in the air. Explosions where the enemy was, that's good, very good. Lucy also prioritizes attacking the ones threatening Sophist, or to her, the "flying guy". She raises her gun once more and fires off a few rounds, the flaps on Daedalus opening, the regular to her right getting slightly worried about what's going to happen. She figured she had enough range, just needed to wait... Time, time to engage! Several clicks from Daedalus, she lowers her gun and opens her palm facing the enemies ready to engage Sophist, basically everyone in front. Clicks and clacks, tightening the cone so she doesn't hit any allies, just another few seconds left. The flaps slam closed, as a massive crack erupts from Daedalus, unleashing a Burst kicking up dirt as it rolls towards the hostiles at the speed of sound. Now she just needs to pray it ruins their entire formation. If that shield drops, she's next on the chopping block, according to her.
