I was so blown away by the eclipse. I even got to pretend it was entirely hidden here in Michigan, when the clouds covered the peak. :P

Where the hell do you go to school? Then again, maybe I'm just in the right degree program. I've only had one class that required attendance, and then even failing that wouldn't affect my GPA (it was one of those study skills classes)

A crappy school, apparently.

I'm in a well-respected education program, who put a lot of weight in participation and attendance. "Teachers can't skip, you can't either."
Hell, I skipped way more school when I was in high school. No wiggle room in college.

It's not high school, it's college. Skip it. Your instructors will respect you for making your own goddamn decisions. Send them an email if you feel compelled. You should be taking care of yourself now. The president can say whatever the fuck he wants, he's not the boss of you.

My classes have a two skip policy. Skip once, it's okay. Skip twice, you fail.
If I have to, I'll take a lost limb over not graduating in May. I just won't be happy about it.
The media is already complaining. But it sounds like the president doesn't want to be the first one in the history of the university to have more than one snow day in a year.
My university was kind enough to send us an email telling us not to go outside tomorrow. It will be -5, with a -30 windchill. They even provided us with a frostbite calculator, to determine how long we can be outside before exposed skin becomes frostbitten. On average, in tomorrows conditions - anywhere from 7-12 minutes.

BUT THEY DID NOT CANCEL SCHOOL.

All classes are still on. Attendance still counts. Test and quizzes still count.

All the other schools (universities, colleges, grade schools) are closed. Oh, but not us.

Here's how quickly you'll get frostbite, but you still have to go.

Not to mention the fact I attend the school with one of the country's largest campuses. 10,000 acres. It takes me about half an hour when I walk from one class to the next. At the very least, a 15 minute walk from my first class to the nearest parking lot.

Ugh. Not safe.
