Love the idea for his ability. I'm thinking of so many ways this can be so helpful X3

I think once we get 10 finished, pre-approved CS's up here in the Interest Check (8 if you don't include my two) then I will feel like we have enough interest to start up the OOC. Does that sound fair to you guys?

Sounds fair. I'll have my two finished today.
THESE ARE BOTH COMPLETE!

Iris Dvorak

Name: Iris Titania Dvorak

Age: 21

Alias: Void

Appearance:

Costume:
(This black cape like jacket that falls to her mid thigh is paired with tight black pants and black boots to maximize her ability to blend in with the shadows.)

Abilities:Shadow Manipulation - (also called Darkness Manipulation) is the ability to merge with, control, and draw power from darkness. The ability allows the user to hide in, minipulate, and travel through shadows, as well as being able to create shadow-based objects from the darkness. (More detailed description can be found here.)

Skills:
Photographic Memory - Iris' ability to remember information is surprisingly good. Born with a smart head on her shoulders, Iris has gone through life observing everything while blending in from a safe distance. Memorization is one of Iris' biggest tools. Names, faces, passwords, you name it, she can remember it perfectly from the first time. She's capable of self defense, but is physically lacking in strength, so being able to collect information from a distance is a better alternative to fighting. Of course she can always just use her ability to create something like a car to smash on someone's head... not that she's done it before, but spying is much more appealing and requires less energy.

Languages - She speaks fluent Russian and "American English."

Personality Traits:
"Do you really feel the need to speak to me? I may just feel the need to break your bones."

Iris is not the nicest of people. While not outrightly mean or nasty, she is not the most bubbly person and can be bitter and sarcastic at times. She only speaks when spoken to and is likely to scoff and point out your flaws. Despite her attitude, she is very loyal and can be trusted, though many people dont at first. She is a skilled street fighter with good agility and a sharp mind. Though she may not have a problem with you, she wont let anyone close without being sure they can be trusted, and won't hurt her.

Backstory:
"I certainly wasn't a child born from the shadows... but in the solitude of darkness, I feel more at home than I ever do with my so called 'parents'."

Born to a family of Russian immigrants, Iris never knew the simple and happy American lifestyle that her parents had hoped for coming from overseas. Her parents opened up a small bakery in the heart of NYC, and for a time, the family made do with what they had. Fast forward 6 years and Iris was at the small, impressionable age of 5. Times got tough for the Dvoraks, and debt began to pile up to their necks. In order to put Iris into school, her mother began to offer a different, more intimate kind of service to the public. It slowly tore the family apart, but what could they do?

Throughout Iris' times in school, she always knew she was different from the other kids. She was taunted and picked on for her large eyes and for head, and because she looked different from everyone else. She was stick thin and wore old clothes sometimes days in a row because it was all her family could afford. Due to the tough times at home and at school, Iris became a quiet and bitter person. Her father taught her how to defend herself around the age of 13, not from bullies, but from "The cruel world" as he would put it. High school was no different for her. The teasing stopped mostly because she started defending herself. If someone said something rude to her, she'd point all all their flaws and make them feel worthless in a matter of moments. She stopped biting her tongue and started to say how she felt. Profanity became a common weapon against the bullies, and for a time, it worked. People began to keep their distance in school, and that was how she liked it.

Iris first discovered her powers at the age of 16. Her parents offered her a job in their bakery, and for a time it seemed to help business two have a young and attractive face around. Her mother noticed how much attention Iris was attracting, and hatched up what she thought was a great idea. One of the men her parents were in debt to had taken a liking to her, and decided that all debts would be forgiven if they offered Iris to sleep with him whenever he so pleased. One would think loving parents were opposed to it, but they found it to be a once in a lifetime opportunity they simply could not pass up. Iris was in total opposition, and in a blind rage, ran out screaming that her parents had never truly loved her.

Being out on the streets of New York City is a scary thing at night. After being chased by a group of drunk guys from her school, she hid in an alleyway of a tall building and pressed against the wall, wishing she could just dissapear... and she did. The boys ended up looking directly at her, but not being able to see her, continued on their way. When she literally stepped out of the shadow of the wall, she realized why she had felt so out of place all her life. She really was different.

Eventually she returned home and her parents acted like nothing had happened. That was how Iris wanted it. She never wanted to talk about their act of betrayal... She didn't want to talk to them at all. Period. And so for three years, she never spoke to her mother or her father, save for the occasional yes or no. As time passed, Iris felt the desire to better learn how to use her powers. So she spent a lot more time outside at night, following random people and taking comfort in the solitude of darkness. Secretly she wished she could speak with someone like her. Somebody who knew what it was like the to live a life feeling out of place. Iris felt alone in the world. Her only friends were the shadows she would turn into the shapes of people, but even she had to watch them die as the sun came over the horizon. Her solitude only fed her bitterness towards everyone who looked at her as if she was the weird one. It hurt because she knew deep down that their suspicions were right. That she was a monster.

Other: Logan was the one who recruited her.

Erik Lehnsherr

Name: Erik Lehnsherr

Age: 31

Alias: Magneto

Appearance:

Costume: N/A

Abilities:
Electro Magnetic Manipulation - The power to manipulate electromagnetic fields to achieve a wide range of effects.

The primary application of his power is control over magnetism and the manipulation of ferrous and nonferrous metal. While the maximum amount of mass he can manipulate at one time is unknown, he has been shown to have surges of power when his anger takes over. This allows him to manipulate larger objects when he is in this enraged state. He can also affect non-metallic and non-magnetic objects to a lesser extent and frequently levitates himself and others. He can also generate electromagnetic pulses of great strength and generate and manipulate electromagnetic energy.

Skills: In addition to his powers, Erik has many other skills. He is a genius with competence in various fields of advanced science, especially in genetic manipulation, particle physics, engineering, and other fields of technology. Fluent in multiple languages, including German, Russian, Dutch, and English. Aside from his ability to manipulate metals, being a doctor, he has extensive knowledge on how bodies work. He can remain calm under pressure and has no problem performing impromptu surgery if the need arises. He is a well skilled fighter, learning most of his techniques from Logan.

Personality: Erik’s personality was forged by his war experiences: both the helplessness he felt when he and his family were prisoners in the Nazi camps, and the lengths to which he and the people around him had to go in order to survive. The weird mix of ruthlessness and idealism that drives him was born out of the extremes of courage and cruelty that he witnessed living in concentration camps. It’s because of those experiences that he cleaves so strongly to his own kind, and that his reaction when faced with prejudice or race hatred is to hit back 10 times harder.

He has a persistent desire to be strong and teach his fellow mutants how to be strong in a world fueled by hatred. He almost fears being weak or feeling helpless. Often times her keeps his deepest desires and feelings locked inside, only really being able to open up to Charles or Logan. On the outside he is a calm contrast to the raging emotions under the surface.

Position in School: Teacher - Power Control / Humans & Us 208.

Background:
"I've been at the mercy of men just following orders. Never again."

He was a man of medicine, born in Austria. His parents were Jews, but Erik was a man of science. Erik had become very interested in biology, and medicine when he, at the age of 7, discovered he could move metal objects with his mind. Wanting to learn more about his power fueled his desire to study hard, and He became a doctor at the mere age of 19.

Opening his own clinic, he was content helping people while researching as much as he could after hours. He wanted to find out if there were others like him, but it seemed impossible. Who could he tell? What if he was the only one? His fears held him back, and for some time he stopped searching, focusing on his work as his first priority.

Soon after, he met his wife, whom was of strong jewish belief, and two years later, they had a son. Their lives were wonderful for a time. He had forgotten about trying to find answers about his abilities, and lived a happy life with his new family.

Then came the SS-Soldiers. Tricking him and his wife, along with their son, Claus, and their Daughter, Adria, into coming to Germany. To the concentration camps they went in 1942 despite trying to protest. If they fought or argued, they'd be threatened, and complied in fear. They were forced to work for another year and a half. Getting out and keeping his family safe was always at the forefront on Erik's mind. At a point, he remembered he had the ability to move metal objects with his mind, but could not find it in him to tap into his ability like he could as a child. He was weaker, only able to move small, handheld objects with intense concentration.

when the war was about to end in favor of the allied forces ,the germans were ordered to "deal" with the prisoners at the camps. Erik overheard a group of guards talking about killing off everyone in the camps, and in desperation, attempted to escape with his wife and kids. They were found out before they could get ten feet outside the gates, and his children were shot, right in front of him. his wife also perished in the gunfire, catching a bullet meant for him.

Erik's powers got unhinged. More powerful than anyone would've imagined. The entire camp was destroyed. In a blind rage, he mustered all 9 his inner strength and killed Every single one of the soldiers. The buildings were torn down, a few turned into metal wrecking balls used to destroy everything else and the prisoners that hadn't died as collateral by Erik's anger, escaped.

Erik was rescued by people who came to the camp, looking for loved ones, and taken to England, where he was approched by Xavier, whom offered him solidarity, understanding, but most of all, brotherhood. Erik joned Charles, and the two ave spent the last year and a half recruiting young mutants. Erik vowed to himself that he would never let those who were under his protection, die in front of him again. He realized that anger was what fueled his power. Despite Charles' attempts to get him to find another source of power, they have been unsuccessful. Him and Logan have gotten closer as well. Erik has agreed to not treat Logan like his own personal metal-boned puppet, in exchange for some lessons in close combat. The two don't practice often, their duties to the students often getting in the way of them being free at the same time.

For now, Erik bides his time. He fears of another upcoming holocaust of sorts, in which mutants will be captured and exterminated much like he witnessed back in the camp. That fear is now what holds him so closely with Xavier's idea of teaching other mutants to use their powers. The difference, is that Erik sees in Xavier, an ambition towards world peace between humans and mutants. Erik wants no such thing. He is more focused on the survival of his kind. The humans will be allowed to coexist with them if they behave. If not, well... that is no concern of his.

Other:None
A very good question. Ideally I would prefer if the characters be limited to that of a younger age simply because it is slowly becoming a known fact during this time that the mutant gene is brought out though puberty, more or less. Not only this, but if a character were to have had their abilities for a good number of years now, their chances of getting caught and killed or imprisoned are much more likely. This can be side-stepped, however, if you give me a convincing story as to this 'older' character having just come by their powers recently, triggered by something other than just growing up.

Alright I'll need a little time to think but it may be worth the effort. We'll see.
Yes, there will be an ultimate 'threat' for our characters, though what that threat (or villain) is I will keep that to myself for the time being, but it will be revealed slowly as the roleplay goes on. If you are interested in Erik, please PM me and we can discuss what I had in mind for him. Glad to see that I already have some interest (all that information was not easy lol it took me quite a bit of time and LOTS of research, but hey, I'm a history buff).

Okay I'll send you a pm.

For me it's a lot more interesting if the GM takes time to put effort in his/her idea so I really applaud you. One last question, do you have an age range for the characters? I kind of imagine my character not being a teenager lol
I am extremely interested in your idea, and I love the massive wall of information you gave. It sort of eliminated any questions I had as I read through, so I really want to say we'll done on explaining things.

So aside from our characters learning how to better control our powers, will there be any other kind of ultimate enemy that we'live be facing, or will it just be essentially a mutants slice of life in the 40s kind of thing? Honestly I think it's a great idea to set it in that time period because of the struggles already going on in society, but will there be some kind of underlying threat in addition to that?

Im also interested in what your idea for Erik is, because I would love to be his voice along with my own original character. I'll work on a cs for her now while I wait for your response. ^^
I'd love to join in on this if anyone is still wanting to do it.
Pansy can't float on water, let alone air lol.
That would be so cool if he could ♡.♡ Most people have plans on the weekend. Unless of course your me... X3
Got my post up. I think I'll hold off on my second post so I'm not spamming lol. If anyone wants to interact with Iris at this point, it's all clear ^^
Due to the unforgiving weight of SLIM strapped on her back, Iris had been moving slower than she would like. Reaching her family's warehouse took twice as long as it should. Not all the blame could be set on that however, because by the time she rounded the street and the building came into view, Crucible soldiers were already pouring inside. She had to wait until the coast was clear before she could approach safely. There were two guards who stood outside the front of the building, so Iris had to take a detour. Reaching into her clothes, she took out Dusty and placed him on the ground. "Dont fail me now. Go." she said, giving him a little tap on the behind, causing him to run towards the guards. Iris took this time to move around the perimeter of the warehouse and sneak up on the two. With the back of her handgun she pulled out of her boot, she hit both of them on the back of the head while they were distracted, and they fell like heaps of rice to the ground. Meanwhile Dusty was being adorable, cleaning his face with those tiny hands. Figuring he'd probably be safer out here than inside, she left him by the door as the new guard and slipped inside. The large one room building was filled with various boxes and containers of every type. Thousands of rounds of ammunition and gun parts, hundreds of ready to be sold firearms were just a few of the things stored there. Crouching through the row of things, Iris was able to see her parents at the back wall, pressed right up against it with five soldiers surrounding them. "We can make this easier and a lot less painful for the two of you if you comply with us." said a voice that didn't come from one of the soldiers. Another man was there, and as he came into view, Iris frowned and aimed the sights of SLIM right on his head. "I'm going to offer you a deal. Give us the names of your buyers and those who supply you with all of this..." He gestured around at the rows of crates that lined the walls. "And well, we can just take you in, lock you filth up for the rest of your lives instead of doing it my way. The way where you don't get out of here alive." On that, her father stepped to protect her mother who was shivering in fear behind them. This changes things. If Iris killed this guy outright, his goons would just shoot her parents right then and there. Time for plan B. Iris set SLIM down against a crate and pulled out her small, less than intimidating hand gun once again. She hesitated a long moment, gathering up her courage to go out there and talk. Moving fast on her feet, she approached and cocked her gun, the light noise causing all five gun sights once trained on her parents to turn on her. That's exactly what she wanted. With her gun aimed at the head of the guy who was in charge, she shifted on her feet, clearly appearing to be nervous. "H-how about we do things my way? Where you guys leave my parents alone and get out before... before I shoot you." Iris hoped he was falling for her trick. Her studdering and shaking hands were all acts in to getting him to think she was all talk. Harmless. Where in fact she was taking in her surroundings, ready to make her move in just a moment. The man turned towards her, now with all the attention on her, it was perfect. A smirk began to form on the man's face just before he let out a bark of a laugh. "Well this is just... fantastic! I didn't think they had a daughter. Welcome to the party." He saod, taking a few steps towards her. She backed up and pretended to stumble when he did. "I hope you are smarter than your parents over here. Why don't you talk to them? Convince them to give it up before you die along with them." She glanced behind him at her parents who already seemed to know what her plan was. Her father nodded and gripped her mother's hand before the two dashed off to the right, heading for the back to a door that lead to an escape route. Just as the six unwelcome guests turned away from her, Iris raised her arms and fired two shots at the light above them. It blew out, causing the rest of the lights in the building to flicker and turn off as well. She didn't wait around to move her position and meet up with her parents. Her nearly perfect memory allowed her to maneuver through the building with ease, and she reached her parents. Her father smiled and hugged her tightly and her mother did the same. "That was a hell of a crazy thing you did there." Her dad said. "Are you alright, Iris?" Her mom asked afterwards. "FIND THEM! NOW!" Iris looked behind her then back at her parents, the angry voice making her uneasy. "Go. I will be right behind you." she said before going back and making some noise in the opposite direction. She heard footsteps and gunshots behind her and she quickly ducked to the side. Her heart by now was racing in fear, and she tried to think rationally on how she was going to get out of here. Soon that idea was gone when the crate next to her was shot. She stood and ran in the direction of the entrance, still holding her hung in in one hand. She didn't fire any shots in fear that she would be found out, and instead made her way towards the door. She felt around and grabbed SLIM, fitting him onto her back and opened the door, causing light to stream in. "THERE! GET HER!"was all she heard before a flurry of bullets was shot towards her As she slipped outside. Two shots hit her, both grazing her left shoulder, but it didn't slow her down at all. Reaching down and picking up Dusty, she ran as fast as she could back towards the forest where she came from. That would give her some cover if they still wanted to persue her. She just prayed that her parents got out of there safely. There was nothing more she could do."Please be safe..."
