No, I like the idea that they're forced out of their homes. That will leave Leaf completely lost, which is fun character development. He never really talked with his creator about it, but he assumed that since his master was a gnomish wizard, other gnomes must be like him. It's a clueless thought which Leaf will have to process eventually.

Hm, right of the bat I have to say that our group is rather huge and perhaps it would be easier for both us and the DMs if our characters were split up in two groups, in two different locations at start. One big group will probably be all good and dandy but I am sure it can be easy to be overwhelmed.
