Abram - Baton Rouge - Samantha Abram listened intently as Samantha took her turn to speak. "Well... We're glad to have you - At least, I like you so far..." He said, teasingly. They agreed on taking a back entrance to the mall, where they'd find some stores to loot. It was noon by the time they found the mall - they'd only passed a few walkers on the streets. As Abram pulled in to the back parking lot of the Mall, he was surprised to find that it was void of any walker presence. He climbed out of the SUV with caution. He shouldered his rifle, but held his pistol upwards. They went to a backdoor that hopefully led to a store. Once inside, he found they were in luck. The place was a clothing store, but Abram didn't know what it was called. "...Clothes..." He glanced down at his dingy shirt - It didn't look to good - didn't smell great either. "...I really wouldn't know how to find clothes for any of you." He said to Samantha. It was true - he'd probably get slapped for guessing to high a size. Back when his daughter was too young to buy her own clothes, his wife usually did the textile shopping. "I'm... gonna look to see if we can't find some duffel bags or backpacks in this place." He said. He said, and ventured down the aisles. He found a large shelf that held gym bags and backpacks - exactly what he needed. He grabbed one two of the largest bags and took one back to Samantha. "Where to? Grab some spare clothes or head into towards the other shops to see what else we can find?"
Emma - B&B - Enrique/Colton "C'mon, kid. We'll go find some place to shoot that bow." Colton said, beckoning that Emma follow him. "Be back in two hours." He called to Enrique. Emma zipped up her jacket and followed him into the hallway. They left the building and stepped outside, Emma earning some wary glances from other men. "It's all good, boys. Enrique cleared her." Colton said, not really helping the situation that much. He lead her to the truck and grabbed a long plastic case from the truck bed, which Emma guessed was the bow and arrows. "Your backpack is in here, too." He said, producing her bag. She was slightly happier now that she had her bag. She unzipped it, confirming that everything - including the pistol was in there. She decided that she wouldn't mention the pistol to Colton or Enrique. "where are we going?" Emma asked, shouldering her pack. "I thought I saw a couple walkers down the road at that gas station when we came in yesterday. Thought we might walk down there. Only a few minutes away." He said. "I wouldn't know. I rode here tied up in your trunk." Emma said, blandly. "Yeah, well anyway..." Colton remarked, rather awkwardly. "I've noticed - the dude who... caught me in the woods - I haven't seen him. I remember his face though." "Oh... Gerald?" Colton said, rather grimly. "He- uh... he was killed by Sylar and his men." "Who is this Sylar guy that y'all keep talking about? I know he was from outpost, but what was special about him?" "Well... he was the co-leader of the Outpost Scouts..." He began. "The only reason we left was because Enrique's girlfriend died in a fire. No one knew how the fire started, but the gates were left open when we left. Honestly, I feel really bad about it... Walkers got in. There was a girl - Meghan. She was like a daughter to Sylar - they'd been together since the first week of the outbreak. She got bit and Sylar had to shoot her... Sylar blamed us and came after us. "He yelled at Enrique and claimed to be the arson behind the fires..." He said. "I met him at Haywood.... he seemed like a good person." Emma said. "He was... but grief can do a lot of things to a man." They didn't finish the conversation, rather they walked towards the gas station in silence. Zoe/Andrew - The Road/Metairie Area - Scouts Once everyone was settled, they started on the road, agreeing that Danny's car would follow them. Shannon, James, and Finch sat in the back row while Zoe and Andrew sat up front - Andrew drove. "So, who's this friend you're looking for, if you mind I ask?" Andrew asked, much to Zoe's horror. She shot him a death-glare that said That was rude!. James answered. "She's a girl named Emma Crowe. She's the same age as me." Zoe felt as if she might have met someone named Crowe, but she dismissed the thought. It couldn't have been too uncommon of a last name. What bothered her the most was that the girl was maybe 14 or 15 years old... and she'd been kidnapped by a group of men? What had this world come to? "Could you tell me about who took her? How many people and such? It might help to narrow down the places they might have gone." "Maybe.... 16, 18 people?" James response alarmed Andrew. He'd thought it might have been a group of maximum 10 people. He now thought that his optimism in helping these people was misplaced. "Alright... Babe, what do you think?" Zoe produced a map from the glove compartment. She pointed out an exit. "What about the outskirts of Metairie, exit 97?" "We've been there, haven't we?" "Yeah. Its the one with that auto-shop, the high school, and the bed and breakfast." She noted. "I was think of checking the high-school and the Bed and Breakfast. Both of those are large enough to hold a group that size and then some."
Emma - The B&B - Enrique/Colton Emma eyed the cup as Colton he poured the whiskey into the bottle. As the two of them drank the liquid, Emma eyed her glass warily, surprised that she'd been offered some. She sighed, reached to the glass and put it to her lips. She remember her dad and her brother sitting in their living room one summer and watching baseball games as they drank beer, but she also remember Daniel developing a minor case of alcoholism. He'd been sober for a long time, but he'd told her that he'd had a drink with Riley in Haywood. For the life her, she couldn't figure what Daniel, Riley, or her father liked about alcoholic drinks... She glanced briefly at Enrique, then to Colton - both of them awaiting her reaction. She waited a moment, her face neutral. She then lifted the glass to her lips and spit the liquid back into the cup. Colton and Enrique howled with laughter. "That's disgusting..."
Emma - The B&B - Enrique Emma listened as Enrique spoke - her mind jarring when he spoke of Tyler and Katie. She hadn't thought about Katie since that day... she hadn't even considered if the little angel of a girl was alright... She knew Tyler was a loving father and she knew that Katie loved her daddy. She felt a heavy rush of nostalgia hit her, and she remember the feeling of joy she felt when she was around Katie. Such an innocent angel in such a cruel, evil world. It had brightened her day every time she looked at her. When Enrique mentioned this Sylar guy again, she did her best to dig up the memories from that day, regardless of the fact that she'd spent almost a month straight trying to bury the same memories. She could vaguely remember the man being sympathetic and speaking with Abram, hopelessly trying to make amends somehow. He had seemed like a good enough guy, but if this new world had taught her one thing - it was that people were often not what they seemed to be. She saw that ring true several times. She'd hated Bex the first she saw him in the catacombs, but then he proved to be a good man, and he'd died a good man, too. Tyler had always seemed to be an evil Tyrant, but he was just a desperate father. Tyler's true intentions didn't change the fact that she hated every cell of the man. Desperate didn't make right - who wasn't desperate now-days? As Enrique spoke of his vision for his group of men, he delivered his words almost longingly, like a visionary who wanted to change the world. She almost smirked when he mentioned his name for them: "The Pack". It was fitting, though. The men stuck together like a pack of wolves, loyal to their leader; the Alpha Wolf, Enrique. She nodded twice, looking at him with a small smirk. "Alright, Alpha Wolf. I'm in."
Emma - The B&B - Enrique Emma listened as Enrique presented his case. She found herself wanting to laugh at him and spit in his face. "Do I think you're the bad guy?" She repeated. "Let me clear something up for you." She stared him in the eye, defiantly, even though she was terrified on the inside. "You probably don't remember me, do you? I was at Haywood." She said, her words filled with hatred and grief. "Remember the guy that Tyler shot that day? That was my brother - 6'5, 215 pounds? Kinda hard to miss him." "See, Daniel was a the greatest man I knew. He had a great sense of duty and he could tell how people thought and felt." She found herself surprised at how willing she was to speak - after almost a month of not saying anything. "See... I don't have that judgement. I'm a 15-year-old girl who has killed living people before. 5, to be exact." "I know hat his new world of ours is a cruel one and I have to think past the norm of a 15 year old. I don't get to worry about my clothes, I don't get to worry about a boyfriend... I just worry about how I'm going to eat in the next 24 hours. I worry about my gun failing while I'm trying to shoot at a walker." She said. "My point is... people change in desperate times." "You may have done bad things," She shook her head and spoke calmly. "but I don't think you're the bad guy."
Zoe and Andrew - The Road - Scouts/Danny/Alex Andrew took was relieved when the men seemed to relax a little. "What do we get in return?" He repeated. "Well..." He said, searching for an answer. "Well, I do believe there's some truth in the saying 'Strength in Numbers'. We've been alone for almost 4 months - Just me and my wife, and I've been wanting to try and find a larger group." Andrew shrugged, not exactly sure what else to say. "I mean - If you wanted to kill us, we'd be dead already... And you were right - I'm not dumb enough to threaten a truck full of men." Boldly, he stepped forward and crossed half the distance between him and the guy. "We're just offering our help - you don't have to accept." He extended his hand, hoping the guy would cross the distance left and take their offer. "I'm Andrew; this is my wife, Zoe." Emma - The B&B - Enrique/The Pack Emma handed the gun over to Enrique, watching as he undid the clip. She pondered the name "Sylar", as he spoke like she should know who he was. She found herself searching the Myriad of people she'd met in the last two months. Then she found it- Sylar from Outpost. She didn't know he was dead, but she guessed Enrique had taken great pleasure in ending his life. She followed his instructions and went inside, finding Berkley. He met her eyes with a look of disgust, which only pleased Emma. "Enrique wants you to fill these clips up." She said dryly. He took the magazines from her hand and opened his bag, producing a box of shells. He slowly filled the ammunition, and practically threw the two clips back at her. As she turned around and left without word, he muttered, "Not a bad shot for a piece of Jailbait." His "compliment" threw her off-guard, and she was unsure how to respond. In turn, she didn't say anything, but rather walked away. When she found Enrique she sat the gun - La Pistola - on the table. "Now what?" She asked, blandly. Abram - Baton Rogue - Sam The man listened as Samantha spoke. "Training... wasn't as much of an impact on me as the experiences I've had. I joined the US Army at 21, and ended up spending time as a Military Cop, a Grunt soldier, then later as a special forces operative." "I served 6 tours - 2 in Iraq, 4 in Afghanistan." He said, slightly nostalgic. "Yes, Jess and I were in a group... we've only been on our own for about a week now. The group's leader - One of the soldiers under me in my squad, and my best friend - was shot and killed. The other 4 in my squad were also murdered about two weeks after the outbreak. In the group, Daniel - the leader - had a 14 year old sister who was there too, watchin' him die... She left the place almost a month before I did, with a young girl about your age and a boy her age. "Jess and I left because we've been trying to find our friend, Floyd." He glanced at her. "But, don't think that just because we're newly acquainted that I'll double-cross you. Besides, I'm 43. You're - What? - 23, 24 years old? You could outrun me without a problem." "I promise you that you can trust me as long as you don't give me a reason to not trust you." He smirked a little bit. "I was a sniper for almost 12 years- If I wanted to kill you, I would have shot you by now."
Emma - Bed and Breakfast - Enrique She followed Enrique to the back of the building, spotting the stump which he pointed out. His words boggled her mind - What on earth was he "Training" her for? She was their captive, their prisoner. She decided it best that she play along, and took the gun back from him. She took aim at the objects. She fired two shots that weren't aimed very carefully; one striking the bark of the stump bellow the targets and the other embedding itself into the ground. A laugh came from behind and she saw Berkley standing in the doorway. She found herself Extremely irritated by the man's presence. She shook her head, and returned her attention to the cans and bottles. She aimed slowly and carefully, lining up the perfect shot at a glass bottle. She fired and sent the glass splintering. By the time her clip had emptied, she'd hit her target with the 5 remaining bullets. She promptly turned to Berkley, who wore a neutral expression, and flipped him her middle finger. Laughter broke from two other scouts who were watching from the side of the building as Berkley's lip curled into as look of disgust. She turned to Enrique, slightly gratified at ticking off Berkley. "Why train me in anything? I'm your fricking prisoner, and we both know that I half-wanted to shoot you when you gave me this gun." ____________________________________________________________________ Andrew and Zoë - The Road - Scouts Andrew listened as the larger guy responded to them, seeming to be the leader of the group. When he inquired of Metairie, Andrew nodded. "Yeah, we know our way around Metairie well enough." He said, truthfully. He'd attended several soccer camps in Metairie when he was a teen, and his several times gone with his Dad when he often visited the city for work business, so he knew it about as well as he knew New Orleans - Baton Rogue, however, he could navigate like the back of his hand. When the man said that their friend had been kidnapped, Andrew's brow rose. He knew that people were desperate in these days, but they'd only had a few encounters with hostile strangers. His mind was plagued with the thought of what he would do to get Zoë back if she'd been kidnapped... He shuddered to the thoughts, but he knew he'd shoot down every person he saw if that's what it would take. "Listen, I think we can help each other out. We've got knowledge of the area and car space - as I see that you guys are rather cramped. If you're willing to let us, we'll do our best to help you get your friend back." As he delivered his proposal, Zoë found herself slightly alarmed, but she didn't stop him. No, she didn't think that they could be of much help, but she knew that Andrew wasn't stupid. She may not have liked it, but he was her husband, and she would follow him.
Abram - Baton Rogue As Samantha left the room to speak with Turisa, Abram turned to Leah, who was finishing off a can of beans. "You're alright that we leave for a while and you stay with Jess and Turisa?" He asked, and she nodded in return. "Yes, sir." "Respectful - I like it." He smirked. "Could you do me a favor and explain the situation to Jess when she wakes up?" Another nod. "Good kid." "Mr. Abram?" Leah questioned. "Hm?" "How... How do you know you can trust them - or even me for that matter?" Abram stopped at the question, allowing it a bit of thought. "Well, Leah, when you've been on the earth for Forty-Four years, you generally pick up a few things about people and can usually judge people's character rather easily. Also, I spent 8 years as a military cop, so reading people was my job." He laughed lightly. "Were you paying attention on our way into the neighborhood?" He asked. A third nod. "If something happens while Samantha and I are gone, I'd like you, Turisa, and Jess to try and make your way towards the gas station right off the exit. Do you remember where that is?" "Yes, sir." "If we come back and you girls are gone, we'll meet you at the station. Tell the other two when they come down." He instructed, warranting a fourth and final nod from Leah. He had a good feeling about this girl. She was calm and level headed and seemed like she could handle herself decent enough. When Samantha returned, he smiled to Leah then left to pack his bag. Abram received a Quarterback-worthy throw from Sam and clasped his fingers around the keys. When they were on the road, Sam informed him of their need for fuel, to which he nodded. "I'd noticed that too. I told Leah to rendezvous at the gas station if something went wrong, so I think we should stop there on our way back. I'm hoping we can get our hands on a pump of some kind to get the gas from the station's reservoir. I hate siphoning from cars." --- Emma - The B&B - Enrique/Trey/The Pack Emma woke with a small headache, rubbing her temple gently. She reminded herself of her predicament and surroundings as she slid her feet off the bed. It was slightly chilly, as the hotel's electricity was faulty and the heating system was down. She thanked God that the blanket and comforter on the beds were thick. A knock resounded on her door, followed by Trey's voice. "You decent, kid-" Before he could finish or she could respond, Enrique opened the door. He marched towards her, producing her pistol. In fear that she was about to be shot, she flinched and jumped back. To her relief, he threw the gun onto the bed. "You're coming with me," He said, as if he was going to continue. However, he didn't, but rather walked out of the room, silently beckoning her to come. She was unsure of his intention - For one, she thought him crazy. He'd given her a loaded pistol and not bothered to threaten her away from firing it at him or Trey. While the thought half-crossed her mind, she thought it best not to act rashly, if she fired at one of them, the other would retaliate quickly. She picked up the pistol, and inspected it - It was a common gun; nothing special. She dropped the magazine, checked that it was full, and slid it back in. She glanced up and saw that Trey's brow rose as she chambered the first round of the clip, then tucked it into her waistband. She picked up her jacket and zipped it to her chest. Trey regarded her warily, seemingly surprised that she was acquainted with pistols. She walked past him and met Enrique at the doorway outside.
**Andrew and Zoe - The Road - Scouts/Alex/Danny/Shannon** Andrew was relieved when the young man lowered his rifle. When Andrew looked closer he saw that the guy actually looked a little bit older than him. He looked confident, but another man, one who held himself with authority came around to the young man's side. As Zoe stepped out of the car, there was nothing he could do to stop her. "Stay behind me, baby." He whispered. **"Why'd stop here? Can you tell me who Enrique is?"** At this Andrew's brow furrowed. "We stopped because we thought you people might need help- or a ride or something- I don't know. We were just trying to be helpful." He pleaded. "No, I'm sorry, but I have never met someone named 'Enrique'..." He lowered his hands slightly. Much to Andrew's alarm, Zoe stepped out and spoke, "If you're looking for that person, maybe we can help you. We grew up in the Baton Rogue and New Orleans area: we know it well."
Sorry for the short post, but I didn't have all that much to respond to.
