> Water magic usually relies on either sense of serenity or rage, actually, and ice magic specifically comes from feelings of dislike and general enmity. Its control must be soft and gentle, so that one steers its course rather than try to force it to bend to one's will. Hmm... I see. A somewhat passionate and stubborn person with a(n usually) good self-control would be a match? (What about earth?) > Although the way you describe it, I'd think that it might be more fitting to call it a trickster deity or something like that. Most likely - as you could probably read out from the latter clarification, the "chaos"-part referred to chaotic behaviour, not the desire to specifically generate chaos. Oigortrõqk canonically represented unpredictability and chance (as opposed to the rather lawful stability-balance-change triad). And, well, while the canonical Oigortrõqk technically is nigh incomparably more powerful than the three others combined, then Ceterlaan is ... actually still in a fairly decent shape in spite of it all, and has furthermore seen much worse times as a planet. Never mind that they are actually significantly older than either Nkaa Raakan or Allandragian, only second to Legereraon (who actually predates the world itself) of the still-existent gods. (In the Hektareian context, all deities were the omnipresent power-absolutes of the aspects(s) they represented, so strictly spoken you can't really speak of the *amount* of power a deity possesses - but you can speak of the scope a deity's aspect covers and the laws that associate with said scope, making the deity with the broadest scope and least amount of binding laws objectively the most potent. Nkaa Raakan, for one, had a massive amount or somewhat confusing boundaries, even if the technical scope of balance is "everything", same with Legereraon and Allagrian[somewhat befittingly, the deity of change's name is occasionally subject to change].) (Always the reasons... Always. Must be some manner of terrible things. I do have the gnawing suspicion that this aspect has been reserved for something or someone who is yet to be revealed, though...) @The New Yorker: Control of fire doesn't mean control of explosions in this world, even if these things occasionally come together. Besides, I think it requires constant focus (and drain) to keep up an elemental magic manifestation of some sort...

> With the thread/page titles once more popping up in browser tabs (instead of just "roleplayer guild")... Is it intentional that it says, for example, "Topic: Mahz's Dev Journal - Roleplayer Guild" rather than "Mahz's Dev Journal - Roleplayer Guild"? Or is that a sneaky bit of uncooperative code? I assume it might be intentional. I, however, did think that I should perhaps suggest that the "Topic:", "Convo:", etc prefixes be done away with, since the first six letters of a topic title tend to be more informative than just whether it is a topic, PM-conversation or forum view.
> (Just because it occurred to me that it might be relevant to mention: fire magic commonly relies on its wielders passion and enthusiasm to manifest and draw power from, and must be coaxed into obedience lest it run wild; air magic is associated with feelings of joy and/or fear, and must be strictly leashed by the wielder's will and dominated to prevent it from reclaiming its freedom.) I wonder now how accurate I was when I assigned the elemental affinity of water to Aemoten and earth to Etakar. (Not that either of them was an elementalist ... if anything, Etakar is the one out of the two who is more likely to learn and harness magic.) Water, for one, can be pretty scary - think of fast rivers, floods and even pressure washers. Seriously, the thing I use to wash my car *will* put a hole in your hand if you accidentally put it right in front of the nozzle (as one of my various acquaintances found out with his own). It will also positively tear wood into splinters and can be used to remove grass from between stone plates. > Eeeeeeeeeeeh... Please don't. Really. I was somewhat supporting of the idea when it was just a deity, but "chaos" is literally the one domain that I can't allow a deity to have. For... reasons. ...Reasons? "Chaos" might be a bit of a misnomer, though - wildcard is a more apt descriptor. Oigortrõqk doesn't really want the world to be in a perpetual state of chaos and mayhem (I'd go as far as to say that they'd find it undesirable) ... more so, they simply do whatever currently seems the most interesting - I will say, though, that if I were to bring an iteration of them in, they would be massively downpowered. (As another note, we don't have stability (Legereraon) and change (Allandragian), either. Might need to elaborate what those exactly are, too.)
I can second Gregory being a fire elementalist in the previous iteration ... not only was it mentioned in the CS, he actually used it against the vampire he killed. From Jack's description, I kind of got the impression that while it is possible to learn to use secondary element(s), it would be almost impossible to use those two together - so he'd be able to temporarily switch to using wind, but not really use wind and fire together? I also recall a rather elaborate discussion about gunpowder and how it and its alternatives have been (on Earth) discovered many times throughout history (though people haven't always been certain what to do with them). And that no need to use magic to produce it is a rather strong advantage over flashdust and liquid fire. And how you don't really *need* an explosive that is more potent than gunpowder for handheld guns, anyway - as there already are powerful handguns which are quite idolized by media but actually quite despised by people who do target practice for sports because the damn things will sooner destroy your wrists than add anything to the gun's accuracy ... or even its ability to cause damage to targets. If a gun can take out an elephant, it certainly can take out a lohk (and if you have a weaker gun, don't aim at its forehead; it's face, eyes and throat are probably easier to penetrate). But yeah ... I believe Jack said you cannot produce liquid fire without dedicated magic back then. ((Edit: I also imagine keeping vials of liquid fire on your person for longer durations would be dangerous as all hell, even more so for a physical fighter. Just imagine if he fell or took an impact to the wrong region...)) ((Is it a terrible idea to bring in a wildcard chaos deity? I am still tempted to.))

> Markdown-formatted text is still readable even if I dropped support for it overnight. It's something I can build on top of because it's mostly non-intrusive and doesn't really clash with anything. Regrettably, it **does** interfere with simple things such as my habitual punctuation to a very disturbing extent - to the point that I typically have to go back for each and every post to undo the editor deciding that I wanted to format something that was not supposed to be formatted at all. It also tends to get awfully confused over what is quote and what isn't whenever quotes come into play. That is the glory of proper tags - it is very easy for the interpreter to detect where they begin and end, and it is pretty damn unlikely that you'd accidentally write something that gets mistaken for a tag. In regards to WYSIWYG and tag formatting, I personally strongly prefer the tag formatting, so if at all possible, I'd like it to be kept as an option. As it is, most WYSIWYG editors are simply too ... twitchy for my tastes. I've muttered more quiet swears at WYSIWYG text editors than I have at any piece of code that is spitting out unexpected errors upon compilation/running. Else, eh, I guess I will be waiting for my single line breaks? Re: Text rendering and scrolling: it only *occasionally* triggers upon scrolling (the first time I noticed it, it was after I had already scrolled the entire page down to reach my post). It appears that I have to minimally scroll the post off the window altogether, and even then it is 50/50 kind of deal. If it makes a difference, then the mouse scroll function has been software-accelerated for me.
> Like his brothers, Kaedan can call upon the divine favor of Deliph to bolster his capabilities, or support others, but his powers are very limited in this regard. I think this is the only part that actually refers to Kaedan's favored powers ... I almost didn't notice he was favored when skim-reading the CS. > Gregory Maede... wasn't that the name of the character you used the first time around? And the equipment and description is either the same or very similar... you just changed his background? Will you indeed be reassuming the role of your old character? The Sartal full plate armor is gone, I noticed, as well as several other details about his appearance have changed. And the spelling of the surname changed a bit. And I'd say origin/history can be a rather significant part of a character (my main character, for one, has a slight ingrained tendency to immediately be a bit suspicious of anything and everything Catolohnian ... his mental reaction when one of the guards assumed he might be from Catolohne was probably quite telling)? I'd almost say that this is a new character by the same name and with the same weapons. Hrm. But I assume he's still meant to be treated as the same individual, ICly? > (The formatting of these posts is starting to really annoy me; why can't I be allowed to make single line breaks? Grr...) Why, welcome to the club... (Also, good morning, though I believe I've been awake for ten hours by now.)

>> Avatars overlap with text (or "slide behind" text) in narrower windows. > Thanks for letting me know. I'll put some more effort into mobile-sized views again tonight to fix that issue. I'll try to be better about checking for mobile-device compatibility before I deploy. That actually was an issue with windowed view on my laptop, too (at screen resolution of 1366x768, with the browser window occupying the entire height and maybe two thirds of the width of the screen). The update appears to have resolved the overlap, as I can no longer replicate the behaviour I was seeing earlier in regards to avatars. Good work. (Edit: behaviour is still displayed with long usernames in the tablet-size width, as the last character to a few slide behind text.) (Now, if only the text editor continuing to mistake my punctuation for text formatting, the sometimes-not-rendering-at-all text formatting, and line breaks could be resolved, I'd be mostly content for the time being. Darker background for the inline code blocks would be nice, too.) Edit: Just encountered an odd glitch wherein the text editing widget turned into just one white line with save edit preview written on it as uneditable plain text. Occurred while editing a post. Didn't resolve before I reloaded.

Avatars overlap with text (or "slide behind" text) in narrower windows. I sometimes appear to be randomly logged out when I have "Remember me" ticked. Including when I haven't even closed the browser in between. Still sometimes cannot access the site via roleplayerguild.com. (Caches cleared.) Links frequently try to direct me there rather than the alt domain, which means that I frequently end up on (or even am forcefully redirected to when trying to write into the address bar) the "If you're still seeing this" page.
@Veridis Quo: Jack is the GM and the final word here. I am just general commenter/organizer/human notebook; didn't notice anything objectionable from my skimming of your CS myself (else I'd have commented it). Jack's been rather preoccupied, if his somewhat scarce, laconic and formal replies are any indication... I'm sure he'll reply you once he has a moment to concentrate on your CS. @Jack: Router/networkside issues have been ruled out. It is something your computer handles strangely. MSE and whatever comes with Win 7 Home Edition shouldn't be a problem, either. (Admittedly, I myself nuked the default protection my own Win 7 Ultimate had, as it both demanded fair bit of resources and, well, Win's default protection is *bad* and can't even detect half of the things while overreacting to others. The Win 8 I have still has its original protection, I think ... mostly because I've never really used the thing for other than checking whether something runs or can be made run natively on Win 8 every now and then; it simply came with a laptop given to me, I installed a second operating system onto it almost right away, and then mostly forgot about it. The last Windows I used somewhat more excessively was Win XP Professional. I was also offered a free copy of early-access Win 10, but at the present date I don't actually have it on any of my devices.) As for antivirus/firewall in general, then eh, I've seen plenty of computers which are filled with enough ticks, trackers and other critters (depends what places you go to - some sites are more notorious for spreading malware/adware/spyware/trashware than others) for those alone to slow a computer to a crawl[1], so sometimes running something significantly more potent than MSE and clearing those out can be useful. (Installing Malwarebytes' trial version when people start to suspect something might have settled in, fixing what is broken, and then removing it again seems to be a rather popular thing to do.) [1]Being a person who has a long history of keeping an unreasonable amount of programs running at all times and never switching computers off, I tend to get fairly sceptical when people say a handful background programs slow their computer down. Although often computers get slow just because they are filled with dust... If you make something that semi-consistently pulls air in from one end, you essentially get a miniature vacuum cleaner. Eh, I'll see whether I get any good ideas in regards to session management, else trying through random options it is. Right now I need sleep and to finish this one thing I am working on (in terms of actual work ... volunteering? in any case they pay me ... also things that are actually confidential). Edit: Since this thing confused my punctuation for formatting. Again.
The votes were 3/5/2 in order of leaving/neutral/staying, with three of the five neutrals having slight preference to staying given the site improves (I myself being true neutral and Jack not having voted himself). The current text editor annoys me, though (and rendering doesn't occasionally trigger properly for me - it often just shows me solid unformatted textwalls for minutes on end, something that scrolling back and forth may or may not fix), so I do hope it gets replaced soon. Ultimately it's Jack's call - I'll be wherever the RP is (though I might not be happy with various design choices sites have made).
