My next post was going to be Crixus ordering his shipmaster to take the bulk of his forces off on another crusade while he himself heads off to meet up with Arabar.

The threat would only be implied, as no doubt Arabar would be aware of Crixus's military might, but at the same time Crixus would be subservient towards Arabar due to his previous debt to the Apostle. The only time Crixus would make mention of it would be if Arabar began to make unreasonable demands of him, which is unlikely to happen.

The plan was to show Arabar's power came not from obvious strength or force of arms but in the far more subtle political and mental games he plays with his compatriots. His hold over Crixus would simply be one of the correct words used at the right time to bend a powerful ally to his cause.
My idea for Crixus is that he'll be accompanying the party either by himself or with a small retinue, rather than bringing his full force with him.

I was going to be covering that in the next post, where he'd be giving orders to his shipmaster, and had hinted at the reasons for following Arabar in my first post when he referred to a debt needing to be paid.

The two have some sort of history which may not necessarily be entirely friendly, and Arabar will have to be careful as to exactly what he orders Crixus to do for him so as not to anger the champion.
Um @SimplyJohn when did you have 46,000 troops? Also I believe I did say we were all starting on the battle barge... so I'm just a little confused

Crixus commands fourth two Raptors (six commanders and thirty six raiders), two hundred and sixteen Marines (subservient to the Raptors in the clan) and the rest of his force is made up of cultists and traitors (six traitor officers with six traitor non-com officers each commanding six traitor guardsmen and thirty six cultists, serfs and support personnel) who couldn't be relied on to fight a true war, even if they're useful for pillaging undefended colony worlds.

The reason he keeps his force so large is as homage to Slaanesh, whose 'sacred' number is six, and so he ensures his force is kept at 66 (or 46,656) troops in total.

What you think? feel free to critique and suggest improvements.

You might want to switch the stormbolter for a combi-bolter as those were the equivalent weapons used by the pre-Heresy marines, unless he acquired the stormbolter sometime after the Heresy that is.
"I'm the salvaging part of the team, as far I understand. We were just in the process of discussing specifics." Harry responded, leaning against the bar as Elsie placed his regular brew beside him with a wink. Harry knew better than to respond to her little gesture, and as he lifted the mug to his lips he spotted the barman eyeing him carefully.

Pretending not to notice the scrutiny the mechanic turned back to the young soldier with a grin. "Speaking of salvage, I couldn't help but notice the gear you're carrying." He said with genuine curiosity, his eyes dropping to the shield generator before bouncing up to the girl's rifle. "Some mighty fine pieces, which I'd be willing to give a good price on if you're interested in selling."
Saf could feel Sgt Orion walking behind her and it made her spine itch even more than the jack ports which had been installed down her back. She didn't trust him, and even though knew that when they were out in the field he would be watching over her she needed some kind of assurance he wouldn't be saving a round for her.

Hanging back from the rest of the group slightly she took her chance as they waited for the elevator to turn on her new teammate with what she hoped was a friendly smile.

"We good?" She asked, her tone level and precise. She'd noticed he didn't like talking much, so she kept her question as brief as she could.

Stepping up between his new companions Harry pulled a bottle of freshly fermented Poitín from his bag, I stoppered it and slammed it down onto the bar top with a heavy thud which set the glasses all along the counter shaking. A dribble running down the side reached the polished wooden surface and let out a whisp of smoke as it began eating its way through.

"Wenn sie auf der suche für ein bessere getränke, junge Mädchen, probieren meine brauen."1 He declared in his best German.
{1} "If you're looking for a better drink, young girl, try my brew."

It was clear from the girl's clothes she was from the old European state, and her accent confirmed it for Harry. He'd had enough dealings with her countrymen in the past to know a little of her language, at least enough to get by trading, and drinking.
