~Meeting with the Monster~

The last rays of light from the sun disappear behind the horizon, bring another chill autumn day to an end. Overhead the street lights click on, buzzing faintly with electricity. Moths gather quickly, desperate of the warm embrace of the light they can never hold. A rough breeze kicks up swirling dead leaves around your feet. But whats this, a business card? Even for it having been lost within the dry leaves that had long since abandoned their lofty homes it was still pristine. Subtle coloring, tasteful thickness and...oh my...a watermark. Two letters, SE, mar its otherwise beautiful surface, like smeared lipstick on a pretty woman's face. The ink was a deep purple, but looked as if written in blood. Flipping it over revels an address, the one that just so happened to be before you. But how? This wasn't even the same street you where on, in fact you've never seen it before on your trips to and fro. Behind you the street light flickers before going out. Darkness. Darkness all around, except from the one pale naked bulb that burned over the dark walnut door with two letters emblazoned upon the door, SE. With a trembling hand you reach for the handle and ever so slowly pull the door open. A long hallway lined with windowless doors greets you, dim light comes from wall lamps setting all before you in an almost sultry setting. You feet carry you within and the door shuts quietly behind you. From behind the door soft murmurers and whispers could be heard, a woman's laughter flows faintly to your ears from one of the impossibly faraway rooms. Plush red carpet led you down the hallway and to an overstuffed black leather chair, it almost beckoned to you begging to be sat in. No sooner than the moment you settled into the seat did you hear a mischievous laugh. Where once there was nothing an ebony desk now fills the empty space. A placard on the otherwise bare surface red those same two haunting letters, SE. The figure behind the desk was obscured by shadow but one could make out one thing, a smile floating in the darkness, wide and in no way inviting. the way the lips curved up into a bestial grin called to mind the big bad wolf before devouring little red ridding hood. The sense of danger runs down your spine, but escape was no option. Only silence passes between you and the figure behind the desk for what seemed like an eternity. Another one of those laughs that could make skin crawl rends the quiet. Two impossibly violet eyes settle into yours, they too held the same predatory menace, but all that pales in comparison to what came next. With a voice musical and rough at once, rang out with a simple question, "What do you dream of?"

CALLING ALL HUNTERS!

"H-Hey you! Yeah I calling mew!" A feyline stands upon a box in the busy market square, just under the large banner of the Rathalos. He was scruffy, missing an eye with a crooked tail from multiple breaks thought it obviously trial filled life. Even in such a sorry state, he stood tall, (well as tall as being a cat creature allows you) and adjusts his offical Wycademy uniform. With a florish he points his claw in your direction, "Yes YES! I see it the fire of a true meownster hunter!" He jumps up and down on the box meowing and purring a bit, "You will sign up wont you? Honestly my num-purrs have be low, lower than a Nibblesnarf during a nap, and I could really use the boost. Plus as a meownster hunter you earn fame, glory and riches!The feyline puts a paw to its chin and lowers it voice to almost a mutter, "Or be crushed in some faroff land by a purrrrousious beast....AHEM! I'd bet the fur on my backside that you make it meowster! Just follow the signs... With a flourish he bows, pointing in the direction of the Rathalos banner, behind it row upon row of different banners, with different monsters woven on them. Men, women and even feyline dressed in various armor made of the deadliest creatures that threaten the day to day life, all prime hunters, skilled crafty and most of all free as the wind. The road led up to the Whycademy itself, the hall where scholars from all over study the monsters of the world. Is today the day you apply to the guild?

The Breakdown

Hi! I'm SinnersEmbrace, or SE if you want. I'm a veteran role player with almost 16 years of experience, and this is something I've always wanted to do. Monster Hunter is one of my most favorite series of all time and while it on its own thrives off social interaction and co-op hunting it lacks a narrative flair that I think a handful of role players could more than fill. I'm looking for no more than 4 more people to fill out the slots in the typical 4-person hunting group and one to play the first monster. As far as what you wish to play, well I leave it open to all thats cannon in the series, so if you wanna play a palico, go for it. I do however expect a few things, as this is a bit advanced I'm sure you know what that entails. A knowledge of the series is requested but not required, but I would hope you do a bit of research beforehand if you are new to the series. Hunts are meant to be cinematic, so the hunters will bear the brunt of the load. As the monster...well be prepared to lose BUT make it a good show, have fun with it! Between hunts character development is a plus, build them relationships, you will be trusting your life to these people.

So my format, this is open to discussion with the rest of the group but my idea is to have the 4-man team rotate one member each hunt and thus take turns on playing the monster. The monster player gets to pick what they will play and thus set the next hunt for us to write. I will ask that we do start small and not jump right to hunting Kiren and Fatalis. Other than that I hope to start this soon, shoot me a PM if you want in. Happy Hunting!
