Duke actually smiled at Leo’s feedback of how long the trip was and how far isolated camp was and its accessibility issues. Most of them had been there. "Yeah, it’s really something. At least we don’t have to worry about exposure or anything. Getting picked off separately by other beasts and gods that might snuff us out." It may have sounded silly but mortals in numbers could be surprisingly overwhelming. Or it would unfold as a relentless hunt always looking over your shoulder. His home for instance had some serious witch hunter issues. He was young but he’s pretty sure that’s how his mother went due to some paranoia and mere affiliation with another entity.
He was also sure if things could breach camp, they’d be able to take out demigods in their hometown easily enough.

But Duke probably sounded like a tin foil hat man for the newer camper.

"I did not see you with the rest of the new campers, so I take it you are a resident, and what is life like here anyway?" Duke nodded confirming he was a more seasoned resident. "Nothing boring or anything?"

"Boring?" Duke echoed. How far that could be from camp life. "Not a bit. There’s usually something going on. Life is, uh…" His finger circled the whole perimeter of camp in reference to the walls. "busy. A little tight at the moment. We had an attack a couple months ago and we’ve been recovering and rebuilding then along came you guys." He could have elaborated more. Perhaps that some campers died for example and it knocked them all off their feet for a couple weeks at least but he wasn't one to spill extra details. The only thing deemed important was that Leo knew the basics and that would get him through.

Now his company seemed decent enough but a lot of demigods enjoyed foolery and the camp, it's inhabitants and Duke himself had been through too much shit. "I really hope you're here with good intentions." Laced under the simple comment was a threat if Leo cared for trickery or evil. If not, Duke was glad to have another strong figure helping out.

A piercing whistle made him turn and he spotted a hand wave in the air. If he followed the hand, he could just make out what might be his sister hiding under her little mouse beanie. Then the voice followed and it was all confirmed. Daniel glanced at Lennie and supposed he should wait around for the spiel. He saw himself growing bored and creeping away but he stayed, apparently curious on how Andy handled herself with public speaking to a bunch of fresh faces.

"I am—was the de facto camp leader after…" Daniel’s lips pulled to the side on her potential slip up. Inside he was cheering for her though. Come on, Andy, keep it together.

She conjured a board and pamphlets and did something else but Daniel was at a bad angle. Not that he was the intended audience anyway but he might have to deduct a point or two for it as long as he’s watching the show.

"These maps are enchanted. All the cabins are listed and once you claim one it’ll update."

Daniel inclined his head. That’s what would have been a nice touch when meeting new people. Namely, Lennie in this instance. Dammit

"Main Hall has food 24/7, although most cabins have kitchens or kitchenettes for anyone who prefers to cook for themselves. Couldn’t be me. " Daniel smiled genuinely amused that that information slipped into the very important orientation. "Main Office is for the camp leader, Infirmary, stables, practice range, and that’s the Armory behind it. Oh and the Arena. Everything else is on the map. If you see anyone around that looks like they know what they’re doing, they’ve probably been here awhile. Feel free to bug them if you have questions. Or the big tall surfer looking dude. He’s the new leader."

Wow. Andy collectively threw the seasoned campers under the bus and possibly an overconfident newbie…and some new ‘big surfer looking dude’ who was apparently the new leader. Andy needed to stop dropping bombs on him suddenly. She said he was coming in her announcement but Daniel assumed there’d be some voting process still or something.

"Also tonight, at sundown, there will be a New Year’s Eve party here. Everyone is welcome and it could be a good way to… Socialize or whatever. So, yeah, I think that’s it. If anyone needs help with their cabins or anything, I should be around." Mostly well done.

"There’s also my brother, Daniel—Daniel raise your hand." Daniel’s shoulders sagged before too many eyes could seek him out. He raised his hand with a stiff smile. "He can do magic and conjure shit too. But he also causes problems. So don’t trust him," she teased.

What the hell? Instead, he kept his tight lipped smile and nodded once, his brows raising when he looked to Lennie. That might’ve made an impression.

"Tsk, I guess I’ll need a new guide if I can’t trust you." His new acquaintance added, albeit jokingly too. "I’ll give it a pass, for now, if we can get some coffee first."

Daniel waved to the hall enthusiastically. "Oh yeah sure. Substance is great too. We can do that. You might even find a fun as guide as me."

He had got a few steps when Lennie spoke next. "Apollo, by the way." He frowned, things taking a minute to click. He was about to comment on him like some trivia, ‘Great guy, god of music and light’ before she spoke again. "That’s my dad, anyways. So, off we go?"

Daniel stiffened a little but nodded. "Well, at least we’re all caught up now. You know my godly side, I know yours. That’s all there is to it." He revealed another grin. Sure the god’s made up some of their identity but he didn’t like to give them too much credit. There was a whole other half that made them.

He nudged open the hall door and held it for the daughter of Apollo. "Hold on." He summoned a map to him and placed it in her hands. "Now you got the full tourist look. People will have to aid you at every beck and call and answer all questions you have about the place." It would be like the weary traveller at a truck stop.

Daniel hung back until Lennie settled in with the buffet that held seemingly endless options and drinks to die for. Maybe even pick her own table and company. She seemed like a social bird though anyone could be when they wanted to. Daniel glanced down at Andy who was sitting by the entrance and buffet then sighed dramatically delving into a monologue. "Boy it’s too bad I don’t have any mystery to my parentage anymore. Too bad if I didn’t want people to know I could conjure stuff." Not to say people could assume it was him. Especially with how many seemed not to listen to Andy’s anecdotes like how she couldn’t cook and her brother could cause problems.

He laughed before grabbing his own seat. He supposed he could wait for the cue to die down a little now Wes and Trinity entered and Evelyn sat with nothing ahead of her. "Psst." Daniel leaned ever so discreetly towards Evelyn’s table from his own. "You been okay? Haven’t caught up with you much since...a lot." His voice adopted the tone of a whisper but not quite the volume.

8e0047....|....his cabin > outside main hall

Andy came over the PA system another day in a row but he had got pretty good at blocking it out. He stirred and rolled to another side ready to resume his sleep. He’d deal with new people and training and parties later.

In contrast, there was Blair, whom he could never block out.

"Lochlan!" She shouted through his cabin. Then he heard little stomps throughout the place. He pulled the covers up tighter to his chin. But deep inside, he knew better. He knew what was inevitable. The stomping grew closer and closer until she marched right into his room.

"Jeezus Blair, what if I had someone with me!?"

She didn’t seem to care in the slightest, instead scolding him as she walked around the room. "Are you deaf?" Lochlan squinted as she let in the light. "Didn’t you hear the announcements?" He sat up in bed defeated and watched her cross side to side of his cabin then raid his closet.

"No. No. No. Gods, did you bring nothing I bought you? "

"I was pressed for time." He answered through a yawn and stretch. He had time but after the dilemma their dad gave him, he didn’t want to hang around any longer than necessary.

"This will have to do." Clothes were thrown in a heap onto his lap."Look, it’s about time you got over Sloane and stopped pining after her. There’s a bunch of fresh faced demigods coming to camp for you to fuck… or fuck with, I don’t care. But I’m getting you out of this cabin."

He rolled his eyes and threw off his covers. "I didn’t expect to see her here, that’s all," he grumbled. Lochlan didn’t know the Astors were demigods too. Besides he got absolutely no closure on why Sloane was thoroughly convinced he cheated.

"So please get dressed so we can go judge the newbies and decide whose lives to ruin, ok?"

She turned to him and smiled. He mirrored one back at her, conceding. Who was he to let his sister down?

"I’ll be downstairs."

He supposed he was in a bit of a funk about it all. It was the one relationship he actively tried not to blow and hold onto and she turned around one day and quit. Because apparently he cheated, according to her. Lochlan scoffed to himself as he dressed in Blair’s selected attire for him. Crazy.

He met his sister downstairs finishing up the last of his buttons. "So are you gonna try make your affairs secret this time or is the whole of camp going to hear about it again?" Blair did have a way of…getting her way.

Lochlan opened his front door like people were supposed to do and waved her through first.

Initially he had no clue what this camp was about. Turned out ‘people like him’ and ‘where he ought to be’ meant with a bunch of varying demigods getting pummelled or attacked by mysterious creatures of the night and nursing a broken ego now and then. But now, he was happy to say he was more well-versed in the other’s heritage and general abilities thanks to Blair.

"I’m still hanging out to see Aphrodite herself. Can you imagine? If those kids of hers can turn heads and have an allure about them, she must be mind blowing." Lochlan’s eyes widened at the unfathomable appearance she’d have. But he wasn’t that big of an idiot to think the Goddess herself would come to this dump.

He slung his arm over her shoulder, trudging through the snow with his greatest partner in crime. Then there in the distance, just sitting there with a bow, the daughter of Hecate wrapped up a collection of newbies for them. "I...saw it and thought of you," he told Blair and smiled mischievously. Before she likely strut off to start playing seductress and ruffling feathers, Lochlan's arm tightened slightly holding her back a second. "How do we wanna play this? Because there's a lot." Lochlan was almost overwhelmed with decision and somehow even he thought he had to play this half-smart.

#851f1f....|....armory > roaming path

The repairs of camp had been tedious but it was a nice touch to improve upon a few structures and add cabins. The wall was really something though. He understood the precaution but Duke had the sentiment that in Camp Athens if something wanted to get in, it would. Nothing wrong with attempting to minimize the chances though. Plus it all kept him busy and productive. He enjoyed having projects.

Over the months he had even made a surprising friend in Fiona. They just kind of kept bumping into each other and clicked. Though Duke really clicked when she showed him the possibility of tinting weapons. Duke knew he could do it with fire but she showed him poison. Both elements ate flesh and blood differently so it depended on the intended effect.

Duke was in the armory scanning for his next mission, mulling it over. There were bows and arrows, crossbows, daggers, swords, sais, axes, nunchucks, escrima sticks, spears, all assorted neatly on their hangers. There was even armor on stands from light to heavy. Relieved for the variety at least he still felt there was more he could do. He always wanted to assure the real things were better than the conjured but a sharp-tipped point was still going to do its job with the right wielder.

He must’ve been in such a state he only attuned to Andy’s announcement mid-way. There were new demigods, a new leader among them and a party tonight. "That can only go well," he muttered still eyeing his collection. But it did solve one debacle for him. No free flame tipped or venom enhanced weapons at this time. Duke adjusted the way a small axe sat by 3 degrees.

Duke rolled out his shoulders and neck and exited his favorite building. He eyed his cabin across the path briefly considering retiring for a moment. But if there were new campers and one was up for the camp throne, the right thing to do would be to help with all that new navigation. Still, there was a certain pull to his own shelter for some rest. It would be appropriate to restore some energy if he couldn’t focus on his surroundings properly.

Gradually, the place seemed to buzz with more life. He shuffled towards his cozy cabin, nudging the door open and leaving it ajar as he continued the way to his drawers. He grabbed a jumper and put it over his short sleeves. The cold personally didn’t bother him as he ran hot and even when he didn’t he could always force himself to. But people found it weird so he indulged them with an extra layer on top.
He shuffled back out and locked his cabin up behind him. The son of Hepheastus had nothing special or anything to particularly hide, it simply served more of a healthy habit. And principal. The only people that could get through his inventive lock was Heath and Blair. Heath he wasn’t overly concerned about but Blair didn’t have many restrictions.

Duke hung well back as Andy filled the new campers in semi-awkwardly and offered an enchanted map. He might’ve applauded her but that could have come off condescending and she seemed to dart away at the conclusion. They started to disperse or group off. Duke stepped forward slowly, coming to step up to a red-head man seeking a cabin around his height. "Hey. I'm Duke. It's nice to meet you." He shook his hand firmly though maybe not as firm as the other guy shook his.

"How was the trip?"

I ended up doing what I call a pulse post since I dared to have days away from the internet and it's cost me xD But just showing I'm still here and so are the guys. Mason's being Mason at the moment but he'll be civil enough if he's approached.

Will post for my other two a bit later.

Location: Main Hall

Mason had healed well over the months and even better, there seemed to be a universal agreement not to hassle each other. Or him at least. When you had witchy friends and were a child of Hades, it’s amazing what could be accomplished.

He was lighting a smoke on his couch when Andy’s voice rang out. Most of it was average. The day, time, weather, pro advice: don’t go out in a bikini. Okay. But where she usually shut off there was a pause instead. Mason knew she wasn’t the kind to forget to turn it off. "There was a note left at the main office for me to find… from the Gods. Exciting news, new demigods are expected to join us today." Mason’s brows furrowed having another drag. Was that exactly what the note said? He doubted it. Someone should’ve given the poor girl a pay raise. "The note also mentioned a new leader and, quote, a rigorous training regimen. So, today will be the last day of these daily announcements… at least from me."

A single brow quirked up. They could try. However, if Andy still found announcements cathartic couldn’t they at least give her that still? She’d been through enough stress. Let her have her pulse checks through camp.

He had to admit, he thought that was it. "And last, but not least, tonight at sundown on the Activities Field we will be having a New Year’s Eve celebration. So I’ll be seeing you, and the new campers there."

He puffed out a last cloud of smoke and smothered his cigarette in the ashtray. He didn’t know if sooner or later would be less busy in the hall but the bandaid method seemed to work good enough in any case.

Mason threw on his coat and headed for the main hall hoping to be as invisible as possible or ignored. Either would work. There didn’t seem to be too many demigods walking his direction yet. That or Mason completely tunnel visioned them and was full of certainty that any voices heard weren’t for him.

At the front of the hall, he put his hand on Sylas’s shoulder in greeting before sidestepping him. He’d have to forgive him but he was sort of in a hurry. He would have sat with Sylas or talked a bit but sometimes he liked to play with people and Mason wasn’t feeling like feigning overly social and pleasant. Inside, Mason found the hall was relatively empty so kept to his tunnel vision routine, throwing some bacon and eggs on his plate thoughtlessly and grabbing a table as tucked into the back as he could get.

While he wanted to be quick, he didn’t have the appetite back yet to scoff food and that would probably let him down. Able to pay a proper glance around he saw Iliana already perched at a table and an entirely new face. Shit. Already?

He was awake. Just not up. If he knew a child of Khione he’d get them to turn the snow off or maybe he could target a sun child...the thought brought him pause.

The pale creature became a blur hiding behind trees with a streak of blonde hair taunting Daniel as it circled. He whirled around trying to keep up. An enormous force hit his chest and sent him flying backwards, knocking the wind from him. A stick crunched underfoot off in the distance where he could just make out some other campers in a group, but it also gained the monster’s attention. It seemed to actually smirk at him with fangs on display then dashed off. Daniel extended a hand out, willing an invisible barrier in front of his latest foe while he got to his feet awkwardly. He strained a cough and the barrier faltered. Just like that he ended up chasing a vampire through the woods like a madman, using his powers to hinder her speed and pull her back that only had effectiveness of slightly slowing her down. Regardless, Daniel reached out as the vamp sprang for Cherise’s neck. His fingers clutched the beast’s hair, yanking her back and with his free hand, he balled his fist and punched her in the face before any devouring could happen.

Daniel got approximately nothing for his efforts, even down to acknowledgement. Like, ever, because she just left. But snow could be fun.

As he was psyching himself up, Andy came over the systems with her usual bout of camp news, though as of late it was never really news. Not much had happened. Camp gradually took shape again, people would mill about, there were no robberies or destruction on the southside or anything. Daniel hadn’t even summoned anything destructive in ages…or anything at all.

However, today apparently there were new campers coming. Daniel sprang out of bed at the mentioning and got dressed as if a race. There was a catch though, being a new leader was also sent as well. Daniel froze trying to find a positive in that to keep his Mr. Brightside attitude. It shifted Andy from the spotlight a little, he tried to convince himself. "I swear if it’s the Valises reformed or something..." he muttered.

Apparently there was also a part three of news today! A party! Daniel initially got excited but it took seconds before he got offended. She hadn’t even ran it by him to be DJ or anything. She’d hear about it and she’d be sorry.

Daniel snatched up his music and earphones. The moment a song began to play, everything was back on track and right again. Snow was great, new demigods were exciting, it’d be an eventful day. Stepping onto his porch Daniel even gave a deep inhale and cheesy smile. He jumped down and headed for the main hall, his pace only hindered by rhythmically rocking back and forth on his heel or sliding a leg back with song. Daniel shook his shoulders slightly trying to contain his musical routine for once.

“Hellooooo!”

A muffled voice reached his ears bringing him to another halt. He plucked out a headphone a little confused where it had come from. "Marco?" he prompted looking around meerkat-like.

There was a girl ahead, heading for the hall. Daniel quickened his steps to meet her. "Hey." He grinned and offered a hand. Behind her, Nelly was making quick friends with another stranger and behind that, more people wandered in but other than a quick glance and quick thought of how many the gods did send, Daniel focused on the company in front. "I'm Daniel. You, uh, going in?" he gestured to the hall, plucking out the other earpiece and tucking them in his pocket. "You’re probably going to want your own place too. We're having a party tonight and it's not super camp out weather. You could even be my neighbor," he jested.

Daniel shuffled a couple feet away in attempt to guide the girl. "The good ones will sell fast." He pointed vaguely to the gate she had passed then tapped his nose. Get a cabin first and voila, camp’s home and she’s not carrying a backpack around any longer.
