Alright, so, soon enough I will try to bring this back.
This isn't dead, just on break.
Combat is done with.
Winstanley was appalled by the savagery of their foes, but still, their rage was nothing compared to the Orks that the Praetorian was accustomed to fighting. Taking a knee with precise and parade practised efficiency, Winstanley squeezed the trigger on his hot-shot lasgun spraying forth a fully automatic hail of laser fire. Three incandescent bolts found their marks in the flesh of the hated enemy, toppling one of them as his body was immolated by the sheer energy of the bolts that passed through his charred corpse. A second heretic was also hit by a glancing blow that scorched his armour and flesh with ease, though he simply roared in rage at the guardsmen before him.

"Hold this line! There's not many left now!" He bellowed, trying to convey both courage and information to the soldiers about himself, a natural, ingrained stormtrooper talent.

----------------------

The sole remaining heretic, a dishevelled man with emaciated features and a gaunt look about himself, had a dismayed look plastered across his scarred face. He had just witnessed some of the greatest and most bloodthirsty warriors he knew get mown down by the Emperor's lapdogs. He would have none of this, or rather those above him would not. With all the grace of a drunken Ork, the man began to simply flee with all the speed that his malnourished legs would allow him... An easy target, but perhaps mercy will prevail...

I'll post later tonight.
The mutant tide before you begins to waver, their numbers now diminishing rapidly. Those more compassionate of brothers would note that each mutant was markedly human in features, and all bore faces echoing an immense pain. The experiments upon them by the Tau clearly showing through as their heretic technology was affixed to the fleshy body of each mutant, the insidious mark of their xenos empire clearly shown upon each piece of damning technology.

"We fight in the name of the Emperor!" Artenius bellowed out, culling another small swath of mutated humans from about himself with the flame-wreathed edge of his glowing force sword, the light emanating around itself forming a corona of bright blue light in the darkened corridors and hallways. Despite their easy success over the horde of enemies and the fact none of them took any damage, he could not help himself but feel some manner of betrayal that they had just shot or slashed sentience that once worshipped the Emperor as they do now.

Composing himself, Artenius looks to his fellows and simply says the words, "Onwards, to the commander of this vilest of places." He stomped off further, his rudimentary knowledge of the Tau lexicon aiding him as he progressed up to the commander's office, which so happened to also be the situation room for the whole fortress. "If our mark is anywhere, he lurks within here. Be ready brothers, for vigilance, is key amongst areas as such."

With effort, the Iron Hand shoved open the alien door with a dull clang. The interior was brightly lit by a multitude of alien terminals, each casting a sickly green glow into the room. In the other side of the room, stood several huge battlesuits, one of which bearing the colours you all recognise as those reserved for Tau officers. The suit is completely motionless, though, the lights that normally indicate operation are devoid of illumination, and the whole armoured suit simply stands there. This room. It does not feel right on the basest of levels. Even those of you without the psyker senses of the Librarian or the heightened senses of the Sons of Russ know that this place is tainted beyond all repair. Faint whispers can be heard to each of you, promising you all eternal glory and life...but only if you pledge yourselves over to the Ruinous Powers.

"This is a damned place, brothers" The librarian began, his words becoming more impassioned with every passing moment. "It is our duty as Space Marines to wipe out this wretched taint, even if it doesn't fall under our role as the Ordo Xenos chamber militant." He stopped himself for a moment, allowing those few words - which more conservative inquisitors may even consider heresy - to fully sink in. "I propose we purge this place through holy fire, each of you has melta grenades, yes? Use them in this place, purge it in a burst of atomic flame for there is no redemption."
Shrapnel grenades don't really exist in 40k. You've only got Frag and Kraks in the FFGs. TGo my knowledge, at least. Technology in the 40k went way backwards, so maybe the lost Shrapnel tech, or just didn't bother with it.

Ah, well. Since it wasn't made too obvious I'll announce this:
The Universe we are playing in, is altered some certain ways that I and the Co-GM found to make the universe a bit more believable. So, for instance, humanity didn't go AS backwards and still retain some ability to progress. An example would be the Space Marines - there is no way that less than a million of them can be everywhere, so we made chapters larger. Hell, even PDF forces are now somewhat competent, as are guard commanders.

But anyways, I'll resolve the grenades next combat, as for now, damage is damage and you will be going towards an IG fortress where you can all be patched up - so death is the least of concerns right now.
Yea, it isn't much. But, unless you are homebrewing some grenade, normal frags only have about Blast (3) which means you need 30+ agility to dodge them if you are the center of the AOE. 10 less Agility for every meter away from the center.

See, that doesn't make much sense to me. Both in terms of mechanics and in a more narrative sense. Grenades IRL, even our modern ones not the advanced ones of 40K, are lethal for tens of metres - no dodging that. Plus 30 is still under human average of 35, meaning that...soldiers in the guard must just dodge frags for their training...

I'll look into it more in later combats, as for now it is what it is.
Can't I try dodge? Grenades don't have a high blast rating, and I got 3 agility bonus.

Eh. I am unsure as to specific rulings here, but given the massive area in which shrapnel covers, I don't really see a way you can dodge through it... It'd be like trying to dodge through a gas, it doesn't really work. Besides, it's only light damage.
@KabenSaal Elou takes 4 points of damage from the grenade. Poor rolls, armour, and your stance saved you from a rather...messy, end. Heh.
