Vance truly felt sorry for the poor girl. Anxiety is a vicious, life-sucking monster that forces the air out of a person within proximity of another person, in his opinion anyway. "Almost. Try to hang in there." Vance said. In a way, this was a good way to warm up being around people. Training, as it were.

As Vance spotted the stop, he showed a smile of relief as he instinctively reached out for Devika. "We're here! Let's go!"
Vance smiled as he nodded, beginning to lead her to where they were supposed to go. Vance led them on a walk that took them to a bus stop that easily took them right to the library. However, the street they were on saw a lot of traffic, and Vance was worried that Devika would have another panic attack on the bus. So, he gave her smiles of assurance that everything would be alright. Still...he was dying to hug her, or at least hold her hand, since physical contact was a better sign of comfort.
Vance eyed the bracelet. "Oh, so this is the inhibitor." Vance said. "Well, that's simple. But as for letting your powers loose, you won't know how to control them if you don't experience them head on. If something really is chasing you, you'll need to be ready to defend yourself. Now c'mon, we should get to the library and borrow some books before it gets too dark, okay? Don't worry, I'll be right here with you."

Vance was trying to get her to relax, but he really wasn't sure just how much of his words were really getting through to her. Perhaps she was just too scared...

"Well, the most important thing about your abilities is realizing what you know already." Vance said. "You said you can move water to a degree, right? And you said you can hide your power from others, which is very good in itself in a world like this. Though I wonder..." Vance began to circle her. "Do you think that you're actually suppressing your magic? I mean, like, you could have dormant magic abilities inside you, but you don't know it because you've tried so hard to hide them from the world. Of course, that's just a guess, but there's only one way to find out. We need to get to a safe place and lift that hiding spell."
"Well yeah you can find books on magic." Vance said. "The thing is, people pretend that it's not scientifically possible, so it doesn't "exist". Personally, I think it's for the best, otherwise we'd have peoples popping up from the woodworks trying to do "research" on people like us."

"I found out when I was young." he said, answering her question about when he first discovered his powers. "My neighborhood was fugly when growing up, and when I found out that I could do things normal people can't, I used it to my advantage. Never stopped since. Of course, I was less angry then...and my parents were alive...and less assassinated."
(just another saying for a witch that doesn't know alot of spells)

"Don't be silly." Vance said. "It's not a waste of time at all. Now stop fretting, will ya? Everything will be fine. We just need to stop by the library and pick up some reading material to start with."

Devika's nervousness was concerning him. She wondered how long she had been feeling like this, as well as if she had been taken advantage of before.
Vance was really surprised. She must've been a very early witch. Well, there was no way he was leaving her side now. "Devika, I wanna help you. If you are being hunted, you're going to need to defend yourself. I'll teach you to use what you have in self-defense, and then we'll work from there. I know I'm a total stranger, but I don't think I could sleep knowing that you're on your own like this. Please, Devika." Vance pleaded with worry in his eyes.
Vance tilted his head a bit, surprised that Devika didn't know how to deal with aggressors. "You don't know how to defend yourself? Well, what kind of spells do you know?" He was curious and concerned for her sake. "I may not know alot about the magic of a witch, but I do know that they tend to attract supernatural beings like bees to honey."
Vance glanced at her as she came dashing after him. He turned back to her as she started explaining the reason of her anxiety. His expression turns serious when she mentions something not human that was sensed around her.

"Well then..." Vance said. "Perhaps I should stick around, after all. It could be a hostile force. You know, I'm experienced in dealing with hostile forces."

He gave a little demonstration by making some rocks move, rolling around in a circle as if they were blown by the wind. "But yeah, perhaps I should tag along for a little while just to make sure you're safe."
