She raised an eyebrow at him. "Maybe, after the glamour fades, they don't love each other." He had said. But... how could that be. Her heart felt heavy all of a sudden. It felt like she would never end up with Orion, she could tell he was in love with someone else. Probably Hannah. "It's okay. Maybe... um. Maybe we should avoid anything having to do with love or relationships altogether?" It seemed to be a touchy subject for them both.

Ari had to do something to cheer him up quick. She stood up and put one foot on the chair. Making her voice slightly more high pitched so she wouldn't draw attention to the fact that she was Shadowbird she placed her hands on her hips and said, "Don't worry, I'm Shadowbird and whatever is bothering you I will fix it! Because that's what heroes do!" Ari shouted. The class grew quiet and everyone looked at her. Cali face palmed hard.
Jack's eyes widened at the question. "Why?" She had asked. Why did he always want to help her. "That's just how I am." He retorted quickly. But it wasn't true. He wasn't like that. He wasn't that way at all. He didn't care about the well-being of others. Just her. But why? "It's irritating." He told her. "Irritating that I can't give you an answer because I don't fucking know myself."

"Maybe it's because. You're different."

That was the truth. Lex was different than any girl he had ever met, she treated him like he wasn't something special, she practically had to force herself to put up with him. He wanted her to like him, whether it meant getting with her or not, he finally didn't care. This was deeper than that, this was about something else entirely. It was about being accepted and about making someone understand.

Even possibly it was about making someone not hate him.

"I want to ask why you hate me, but I already know the answer." Jack made Lexa sit by pushing her hand off his shoulder and pressing on her shoulders so she would sit. Then he backed away. "You make me feel things I've never felt before. and I'm not talking about that lovey dovey shit. I'm talking about... you make me feel... human... I guess?"
"Maaaybe superheroes isn't the best way to go. And I'm not quite sure about a love story... I mean. We aren't Galaxy and Shadowbird, what do we know about action anyways..." She looked away. With a sigh she continued, "How about this, we can do a dramatic story... maybe something like Romeo and Juliet. but with our own twist. If you still wanna go with superheroes... maybe we can use that as the twist..."

Ari nodded to herself. Flipping the paper over she started actually doodling to stick figures dressed as Shadowbird and Galaxy. "It'd be so cool to be play a hero." She was pretending again, for Orion's sake. "What are you thinking about anyways?" He had seemed troubled since he had sat down next to her. Was there something going on at his home? Or was it because of her? "I'm sorry Orion... I guess I'm just making you bummed out, huh?"
ah short post. It's hard to compare to your walls of text. I'm so sorry!!
She spoke to him. Not about what he was doing, but about the world. Did it really matter what he was doing? Jack was dramatic, that was all there was too it. But with good reason. He was scarred and it sucked that's all he knew. He dropped his arm with the knife in it as she stared at him. "What do you know? I've seen plenty of the world and all of the darkness in it. The agony, the terror, the rage. You don't even know." He was suddenly mad at her. A side-effect of the torture was his uncontrollable emotions. However, when he noticed she was trying to get up and failing he felt a mixture of concern and amusement. It was funny to see her struggle.

"You need to be more careful." He walked over to her and pulled her onto her feet, holding her up. "Are you trying to leave, cuz I can help you if you want..." Jack had already forgotten that he was mad at her.

"I know I'm a pain in the ass sometimes, but I don't mind helping you if you need help."
"A lot?? No I wouldn't say a lot!" Panic returned to her and she began to stutter again. "I-I uh..." She hung her head, pretending to be defeated and embarrassed. "Alright. I'm a huge fan of Galaxy and Shadowbird... I'm sorry. It's just my opinion. Maybe she loves him how should I know?" She finished her doodle and he questioned her preference for Astronomy and her eyes icy blue eyes widened. "Oh... ha ha... yea... I'm just doodling is all."

Now she was really embarrassed. Orion had noticed. She began to rapidly scribble out the star constellation she had drawn. "So! About this project, heh heh..." She placed her hand on the back of her head feeling rather awkward. "I was thinking we could do something rather action-y and cool..."

"How do I feel about them...? Hm..." She tapped the top of her pen against her chin. What did she think about Shadow and Galaxy. Well, no one had ever asked her before. Personally, she did NOT think they were perfect together. He was so not Shadowbird's type. If she even had a type. But she couldn't tell Orion that, she didn't want to upset him. "I guess they'd be pretty good together... I mean. I don't really know if Shadowbird like Galaxy as much as he likes her from what I've seen I mean. He's always so flirtatious and you can tell he wants to be with her. But. She doesn't seem to return the feelings..."

Did she sound like she knew what she was talking about? She didn't want to sound like that. In truth she was Shadowbird and she REALLY did not want to give that away. It would put too many lives in danger and Orion was the last person she wanted to put in danger. "I'm not too big of a fan really. But I do watch the news a lot." This wasn't a lie. She did watch the news plenty to check for crimes and such. Also she wasn't really a big fan but he seemed to be. What a fanboy. It was cute though.

Ari had unintentionally started drawing something else beside the word love, it was a star constellation. Orion. With a smile she stared at the drawing as she connected the dots and formed the constellation. Oh god, what had she done, she had basically just told Orion that she liked him, with symbolism.
She debated telling him who she really was. He deserved to know before... She stood and turned away from the crowd that had formed below. Shadowbird knelt and set him down on the rooftop. After which she pulled off her mask, looking into his eyes with tears in her own. His hair was turning back to black and she knew for sure it was her crush Austin, dying in her arms. "I've always had feelings for you... I should've known it was you all along... should've known... I'm so sorry."

"Close your eyes." Ari whispered, she took his hands in hers and closed her eyes. "Imagine you're some where else..." Her voice trailed off before she spoke again. "I'm sorry. It's just me, Ari. I hope you're not disappointed." Ari leaned over and did what she had always wanted to do, she kissed him and kissed him for at least a minute. "I'll be strong for you. I promise. I won't stop fighting, ever." She bit her lip and held back tears. "I'm so sorry. So sorry..."

"We must become 'friends' to become partners to become better assassins. or some shit like that." He told her. "Hate me all you want, I'm not going any where." Dimitri stood up, shoving his hands in his pockets. "I'm not the greatest of guys, but I'm also not the worst, you're going to have to learn to live with me, sweetheart." With those final words he lept down into the bureau to go collect his things and get ready for the day's events. Normally he would have gotten up a lot later and he would have gone out on a mission alone to kill some corrupt target who may or may not have been assigned to him. But since he was stuck with Cynthia he decided he would stick around a while. What choice did he really have?
