Thanks Starmie, much appreciated. Id like to ask if there's a way to change the color theme of the forum to something lighter?

I don't believe there is, unfortunately. I'm sorry about that.

She was pleased to hear he would find another nickname for her as she did not want to be called "coffee girl". "With all due respect, you do bully your students, Professor O'Callaghan," her face turned red as she said that, but she figured if she was to survive this assistance business she would have to stand up for herself. "I can email you my research right now. I did focus a lot on vampires, but I also did some research on sucubus and other sentient cryptids." She took the book from his hands and started browsing it while listening. "No questions so far."
Her eyebrows raised in surprise. "No, I didn't. I wasn't expecting to spend any more time here, I was just going to go home." But she welcomed this. It was something she was passionate about, plus it kept her mind from wandering to dark places. "I'm usually quiet in class, but it doesn't mean I'm not listening. My view of vampires is that they're complex creatures that need further understanding still. There's something fascinating about how they lose their touch with reality and their humanity over time. All vampires have a lust for human blood so they immediately start losing touch with us, but there's more to that. Because they used to be human, it's intereting to see how their personalities change over time, causing them to frequently become egotistical and obsessed. That's why things like the Kiss Cult exist, some vampires truly believe they're the real gods and deserve to be worshipped like that."

The brunette lowered her eyes when he called her coffee girl. Maybe she shouldn't, but she took offense to that. But she was surprised when he said she passed, usually she gets a strong negative reaction to her coffe making skills. Not that she could understand why, to her she made the best coffee and she couldn't understand why people hated it.
Jemma was not anticipating spending the rest of the night in Professor O'Callaghan's office. She looked around for the first time, surprised that the office was actually so cozy. She did what he told her and took a sit in one of the armchairs, finding it comfortable. Not too soft, not too firm. Her backpack found a place out of the way on the floor, next to the chair. She turned back to the teacher, listening to what he was saying.
"Oh. I'm sorry. No, this speed is fine." She didn't notice she had been staring at the man. "It's just... This is my field. I majored in Behavioral Science first, and my research is about applying that knowledge to cryptids. So this is my territory. That's why I'm studying folklore now. I find it fascinating how they behave and act, especially sentient cryptids like hematophagous. May I ask why the interest in this?"

The poor girl put her things in her backpack and stood from the chair, walking towards the teacher's desk. Theodore O'Callaghan was intimidating. He was someone you could tell not to fuck around with. And she honestly had no intention to. It was now a matter of survival and she was determined to make it out alive. She didn't even want to know what happened to the other assistant. She was too scared. He didn't wait for an answer when he asked if she knew where the teacher's lounge was, but she nodded her head anyway, and exited the room right after him.
It was maybe a five minute walk to the lounge, and she turned a few hallways before getting there. There were a couple of teachers in there but they didn't seem to care about her presence much. Staring at the empty coffee machine, she realized he didn't tell her how he took his coffee. So she made a new pot and checked her phone for a few minutes while it poured.
Do you remember that professor I told you about? The one that made that girl cry? Well, he made someone else cry today and chose me as his new assistant! I'm screwed!, she quickly typed a message to Caron.
After the coffee was done, she poured it in a disposable cup and placed a lid on top, putting a sleeve around the cup so she wouldn't get burned. She wasn't sure where his office was, so she timidly looked at the other professors.
"Um, excuse me? Do you know where Professor O'Callaghan's office is?"
The woman lifted her head from the paper she was reading and looked at the coffee cup. "Are you his new assistant?" Jemma nodded yes. "Oh, my poor child. I'm sorry."
Jemma didn't know what to say. She just looked at the woman while she offered her a condolent smile.

She took too long and she knew it, she didn't even want to imagine the things he'd do to her because of that. She would be murdered, for sure! She knocked on the door carefully before entering. "I'm sorry for the wait, there wasn't any coffee left in the lounge, I had to make a fresh pot."
JEMMA
Jemma didn't dare lift her eyes from her notebook, she just quietly listened to the professor's words. He did have a point, it was a stupid question, and it sounded like the girl was living in a fairy tale and only was studying folklore because of the romanticism around it. But he didn't have to be rude and make her cry. She was on edge, her breathing was quick and shallow. Finally, they were getting out of there, finally! Until he made the announcement. She closed her eyes, bracing herself for the worst, but rooting for the best, not wanting to be the chosen one. When he said Jane, she opened her eyes in relief, but he quickly corrected himself and she felt the blood run from her face as Professor O'Callaghan stared at her.
Jemma looked around helplessly, hoping one of her classmates could save her from this evil fate, but alas no one could do anything. No one even looked at her, they just passed through her, eager to get out of his room.
The notebook made a low thump when she closed it and she looked back at the professor. "It's Jemma."
CARON
"She hasn't done anything wrong," he said almost unintelligibly, still chewing a mouthful of chocolate chip cookies that Dorian brought. Usually, Deanna doesn't let people bring outside food in, but after tasting one of the cookies she made an exception ("Just this once!"). He swallowed the rest of his food and took another sip of the beer. It was good to relax after a long day of work, but it was even better when they could do that after a case was put to rest. "Well, except maybe getting stuck in this case. Willingly."
Caron followed John's eyes and waved at the other agents and Dr. Jules. It was nice seeing them outside of SEMA. "Dorian shouldn't have been there in the first place."

AT THE COLLEGE

JEMMA
She leaned back on her chair, a bit shocked by what she witnessed. Her eyes followed the girl leaving the classroom with tears in her eyes. It was not the first time someone had left Professor O'Callaghan's class with tears in her eyes, and most of the time Jemma feels happy she's never been a target of the young man's sadism. But he always seemed to be trying to make his students drop the course instead of making them excited about what they are studying.
She lowered her eyes back to her notebook and flipped to the last page writing something at the end of a large list. Do not ask him about whether vampires are good or not.
