Ryoshi walked into the dorm looking around. His arms were wrapped around a overstuffed box, as he wandered inside. Truthfully, for how large it was and how full it was, it seemed strangely easy for someone as lanky as he was. Still, he walked in, sorta in a blank state. "Ah. So this is where I'm staying huh?..." He stated the obvious, completely unsure what else TO say. I mean, he was here! Ryoshi! You know, the kid in class that no one really thought would do anything exceptional. Not that he'd fail... just not excel. And yet here he was attending the most prestigious school for heroing. That couldn't be right... Yeah wait that doesn't make any sense!?

Now dealing with his imposter syndrome, Ryoshi stopped, right in the middle of the hallway towards where he believed his room was. What was he doing here? There had to be someone else more fit for his spot right?... He stood there, blankly staring at the box in front of him for a decently long time.

Wasn't part of being a hero about being commanding, and enthralling too? Maybe that should be something to work on while he was here. You know, be someone interesting, live up to the notion of a hero. Of course he had no idea what kind of hero he'd try and act like. Was he a Cool Guy? Arbiter of Justice? Lone Wolf?

At this point, Ryoshi put his box down, placing his hand against his chin, deep in thought as he was standing there, deep in thought, he was broken from this trance by the sudden shouting from the entrance. "It's Hero Time!!!" He let out an "Ah-" before looking behind him to see the the girl with octopus hair and a foreboding presence standing there.

He looked at his box for a moment, and decided it was fine to leave, approaching the girl. He extended his hand. She wasn't exactly a frightening sight to him. After all, he saw how his mom was when mad. And mantises were rich in protein. Hold on... What was he even supposed to say? This girl already exemplified that heroic ideal better than he did. He felt a bead of sweat building on his brow. Eventually he sternly yet gently placed a hand on her shoulder, all the while, he tried to smile. Tried to because inside he was going more like:

H-Huh? What am I doing? No stop, there were so many other options! Okay, gotta get outta this one He managed to pull it into an smirk, giving a thumbs up to the girl. "Admirable indeed! Just as a hero should!..." Huh? What are you saying?! Where is this coming from! Damage control quick! He softened into a gentle smile. "J-Just joking!... Gotta go!" Ryoshi, ran back to his box, lifted it up and ran in more of an awkward hop up the stairs with alarming speed before he opened the door to his room, slammed the box on his bed, and slide against the door, hunched into his hands, embarrassed that he did any of that. His social life here ended before it even began.

@FatPrincess

Name: Ryoshi Inoru
Hero Name: Paladantis
Home: Tokyo, JP
Age: 16
Height: 6’0
Weight: 163

Quirk Type: Mutation
Quirk: Mantis
Strengths: Ryoshi has many traits that a praying mantis would have, including greater strength proportional to his body weight, a hard carapace, 2 compound eyes for seeing movement, and the rest for sensing light, wings for gliding and jumping (though he's too big to fly), and clawed hands with sharp blades extending just beneath the wrist.

The advantages that these provide are pretty obvious at first. Many cutting attacks aren't as effective, being unable to cut through his carapace. He can fall from great heights, and his carapace keeps him pretty well guarded.

Weaknesses: That said, most of Ryoshi’s strengths are almost solely enhanced abilities. It lacks the expression of creativity in his usage. And while his carapace is hard and it may allow for heavy defense, his joints are especially vulnerable. And while crushing attacks might need sufficient force behind them, the damage to his carapace is substantial if it can squash him.

Ryoshi also currently lacks any means of ranged combat, needing to get in close in order to be a threat.

Background/Personality:
Ryoshi grew up without a father. It wasn't his fault or anything. He died before his mom even knew she was pregnant. But that didn't matter too much. His mom had to work hard for him though. The two of them being carnivorous would have been bad were it not for the fact that she was a butcher by trade. So meat wasn't an issue for them. However, he always had to entertain himself more often than not. This led to his interests falling pretty predictably at the top of the bell curve.

At school he just fell in line. Thanks to the uniqueness of quirks, he wasn't teased for his appearance at all, even if he wasn't the traditionally attractive person. But for the most part, he just followed the crowd and did what everyone else did. So he applied for UA because, in his own words, "I can do good." And that was about it for him.

Ryoshi is actually a pretty average kid. He was the average of his class, he wasn't the leader of his friends, he liked the most popular girls, he watched the most popular shows, played the most popular games, and loved the most popular heroes. If he were a character in Shonen Jump, he'd be just a side character. A funny one, but a side character non-the-less. He might have a funny joke now and then and get his own episode once or twice, but ultimately he's just another face in the crowd. It's a wacky one for sure, but nothing too special.

The thing is, he recognizes this. He sees that his identity is kinda fake. Who is he? Is he just the average? He applied to UA because that's what everyone thought was cool and so did he. Was that his own choice though? These thoughts are his own, but they typically don't show even to himself.

That said, Ryoshi finds himself opinionated about the most mundane things. Pork vs Beef, Mayo vs Ketchup, Maids vs Nurses and so much more. You will always have a fun conversation with him if your looking for something stupid to discuss. He has also been known to use his wit to quite an effect from time to time, usually willing to jest at the expense of others (or himself).

How did he enter UA: Exam

Ryoshi was actually pretty remarkably unremarkable in his exams. He passed, obviously so he was more remarkable than a hefty number, but of the others who passed, Ryoshi ranked 10th in offense, and 15th in support, being able to sense others who were struggling from a greater distance than others, and taking those opportunities to rack up more points
Hey are you still accepting?

Indeed, Taari had embarked on a journey unlike any they had ever heard of before. And truthfully, Taari had heard many tales of travel. It was common in the Wayafar way of life. Their village was actually quite young in their history, representing a new way of life and thinking for their people. And yet still, the tales recounting expedition and pilgrimage abound. Yet none took place quite so recent. At least none of much importance or significance. None until this one right now.

At the feast, Taari had enjoyed themselves immensely, speaking very little, and not given much room to talk as they were used to, but listening to others was not only a great experience to learn more of cultures outside of their own, but also practice the common tongue. They actually felt they learned a lot from their experience and it made them contemplate on their travel thus far.

This land was much different than the oasis and the surrounding desert. The greenery stretched much further than their home, and the blue of the horizon was frequently interrupted. Yet though the scenery was much different, they still saw much of humanity in the world around them. Even if there was the unfortunate language barrier. Of course, that simple issue quickly reared it's head soon after. Body language is universal to some degree. Obviously, whether someone was angry or sad or overjoyed could be seen by looking at their expression and watching their movements.

Yet here sat a crystal. One which spoke in a language that Taari was still learning themselves, and didn't even have facial expressions and hand gestures in order to assist them

"Welcome Taari Tasjil. I am Athena. I would like to apologize on behalf of my inability to converse in your language. I simply lack the body required for such an intricate way of speaking."

Taari crinkled their nose, raised their hand and said "E'nah..." A word with many different potential meanings, but in this context meant "There is nothing to be done about it." They looked at the door in front of them. There were sounds of conversing on the inside. How strange. Taari was aware they would have a room mate, but there were two voices coming from the room. Were they expected to have that many students living in a single room? Perhaps there was some mistake...

“This will be your dorm room for the foreseeable future. There is a bathroom in the door to your right that you and your roommate may share if you do not wish to use the public baths. While sleeping in the dorm room is not strictly required, sleeping in any non sanctioned area of the school is forbidden and may result in disciplinary action.”

Well, the crystal spoke that this was their room. There wasn't much more to speak on the matter. Taari opened the door into the room. Sure enough, two others were already in the room. Taari made a brief gesture, bringing one hand from their shoulder down to their left side before speaking in the common language. "Hello-greetings" Adding the latter part in an attempt to give context to their "hello." Taari took a moment to look around. There was no way the room would fit in this building normally. It was by no means large but certainly larger than expected.

"To this room I was assigned. Taari Tasjil is I." They bowed deeply, raising their arm out to the side. "Who will I be speaking with?"

“Awaken”

These words resounded loudly, deeply, through the entire world. As it glided across the rolling plains, shook the jungle leaves from their branches, bounced off the mountainsides and reverberated through the testing cave systems. It penetrated the dark waters, disturbed the peaks of frost and snow. And it rattled the volcanoes which spewed lakes of fire and brimstone.

These words were spoken by the world and as such they were spoken by us all.

The world, all as one: Omna-Nui was alive

But there are others among our paradise. Paratas, who feed off of the energy of the world. These parasites only destroy. Whatever they consume steals the life from Omna-Nui, and as we all are a part of him, from us as well. And so we must call upon the power of Omna-Nui to grant us our protectors, the Toa. Ancient guardians of lore. The stars foretell of their arrival! Go now! Matoran of Ta-Omna, Ga-Omna, Po-Omna, Le-Omna, Onu-Omna, and Ko-Omna! Return with the Toa and save our people and Omna-Nui!

Update time again: Write up is pretty much finished. It's not terribly long and mostly just a little bit of info on each of the villiages. Been playing around with Stud.io. I was hoping to get at least one more, but I will make an OOC and sign up soon. (And maybe a discord)
Quick update on that write up. Just been playing through MNOG 1 again for ideas, and while I may need to make a few edits, I think I'm doing alright. I'm not just copying the villages directly and I am trying to put a little bit of a spin on them in one way or another, but otherwise think I'm doing alright
Awesome! I'm still working on some write ups on the villages and important locations on the island. I'll be working on my MOC soon too
