Interested in this. Haven't really looked too hard at the other sign-ups, but I'm sensing a lot of commie pinkos Socialists here. Yup, we sure love Marx, huh, guis?

How are we on Theocracies? Well, we got some Nordic looking dudes, but I was leaning more towards some Ottoman Empire stuff, so it's all good.
You mentioned human sub-species, how far out can we go with these? Can dragons be a human sub-species? How about vampires? Just checked, holding out on the idea that draconic vampires could evolve out of humans. History Channel did a documentary on them, I think.
This still has my interest. If you decide to put it off for a little and retry later just let me know.

I appreciate your continued support, but I think I'm just going to let this game lie fallow for a few months. I'll be reorganizing the Codex so it's more user friendly, begin writing a 'Khodex' (haha so punny) that will be the Master Codex available only to myself that would have all the information of the Beyond, and generally filling out what remains to be done- making a potential story arc, which would involve Dragons, reworking the size of the Expedition, (I feel it's rather big at this point, re-sizing it to 20 members would be better) as well as making some Expedition NPCs for the players to interact with, as well as some more work on the Magic system, which I feel is lacking. Writing an opening post is also a definite goal of mine, I need to find a way to present this even better as an RP, which is what I'm working on.

TL;DR: I'm not abandoning this game. I'm just going to make it even better. I may or may not continue to post in this thread until I'm ready. Either way, a post concerning the well being of the Expedition will be coming in a month or so.
Yah, Neutral good is much better. That way, we can bend the laws, but we're ultimately a not batshit human being.

I also think it would be good if we were a talker instead of a fighter, though we should be able to throw some punches.

If anyone has read Jack Vances Dying Earth series, I'm imagining us as a less roguish Cugel the Clever, clever, (hurrdurr) quick thinking, willing to bend the rules, sorta able to fight, but not really. Unlike Cugel, we're not going to be a bastard who only does what is best for us, damning whoever gets in our way. At least, not at first.

Shoot, this whole pronoun thing is really confusing me. I'm sticking with the we/us/our, what think you guys?
I'm neutral either way, I enjoy Rping as a woman, though they tend to be action girls. Roleplaying as a dude is also pretty easy, because I have intimate knowledge on how to Rp as one.
Prettyboy princes are icky, so if we were a man, I put my vote in for a non-prettyboy man. If we're a woman, I'm down.
I've got a question:
Would it be possible if a tinct, after implanting some cool cybernetic brain tech into themselves, awaken a dormant A.I? And aforementioned A.I took over the tincts body?
It would be something of a shift of what you envisioned, so I'm curious to what you think.
That'll make it all the more special when we craft a chariot driven by twelve beholders. (Jokes! (For now...))

Who's starting? I think we should have a turn progression for at least one cycle, and once everyone has gone, we can open it up again.
Does the most excellent Cuddle Pot wish to have the honors? It would make sense if he was the first one, since we could get a sense for the writing style.
How do we feel about romances? We would have to create an NPC to romance with, and their behavior would change each turn change. Not to mention that people have different opinions on romance. (I'm always touched when someone brings their lover the heads of their old partners, but that's just me.)

Corollary: How does everyone feel about making dramatic overarching changes to the world? Say, during someones turn, they create a rival kingdom, which invades us? That would totally spin the plot into a new direction. We're starting with a very basic world, which is giving us a lot of possibility to make it unique. How unique should we be allowed to make it? Would ret-cons be a possibility?
Sorry I haven't been very fast with my character. I didn't know this was going to be stats/mechanics based which put me off but seeing how much work you've put into it I'm willing to give it a punt. I'll work on my character tonight.

I intended for the mechanics to act as a guideline, to keep the mages in check. They'll be prevalent, but they won't be able to magic themselves out of every scenario. Which is why I put such high mana costs on all the cool spells.
I'm pretty excited for this. Everyone else needs to get their characters posted!

Haha, glad you feel the same way as me. I'm now of the mindset of: 'if it'll happen, it'll happen. if not, wait a few more months, and try again.'
Hopefully it can happen this time, but a slight delay would be okay with me.
And now for your handy dandy NPC
Work in Progress
Name Walter Keth
Age 35
Gender Male
Role Leader. Head honcho. Big cheese.
Place of Origin The West
Personality Patriotic, dedicated, intelligent, hard working, straight laced
Appearance A tall, classically handsome man, Keth is well toned from a life of living outdoors and soldiering. His tanned, lean face holds slightly crooked white teeth. His eyes are a striking grey, and his short curly black hair makes ringlets against his broad forehead. He has many scars, though they all increase his attractiveness, indicating a life of danger, instead of making him look deformed. His wide hands are nicked and cut, and his left ring finger is missing. The only adornments he wears is the ring of valor given to him in reward for his exemplary military service, and a small amulet of the Sanguinary Mother around his neck. He dresses in the buckskins of an outdoorsman, though he will wear proper regalia when needed. He wears red leather gloves, a sign of his being a priest of the Sanguinary Mother.
Skilz The Leader is a combination of the Officer, Survival Outdoorsman, and Cartographer. He is a proven military commander, having led multiple raids and skirmishes against Southern bandit gangs. His early life has left him with the knowledge of how to survive in the harsh Western mountains, tracking wildlife and living off the land. And, like all good commanders, he knows his way around maps, and can even make rudimentary ones.
Keth is also considered a priest of the Church of the Sanguinary Mother, having read all of the books of bloodshed the ritual 8 times, and is allowed to wear the red gloves of the priesthood.
He can also juggle, though he hasn't had the need to demonstrate that in a long time. He practices when he thinks nobody is watching.
Inventory military sabre, Imperial military regalia (complete with dress sword), his old repeating crossbow, journals for recording his experience, and a polished compass with the Emperors seal on the back.
The 34 Books of Bloodshed
The red gloves of a Sanguinary Mother priest
5 weighted pins for juggling.
Bio
Born and raised on the far outskirts of civilization, Walter Keth was raised alone by his father, a trapper living in the North-Western mountain range. Walter accompanied his father on his month long excursions into the wilderness, hunting and trapping the wild animals that provide the furs for many of the fashionable clothes of the courts. Walter was taught to be self-sufficient, and his father, formerly a soldier in the Imperial army as a scout, inspired his son with old campaigning tales. Walter was taught by his father rudimentary reading and mathematics, and despite what limited knowledge his father had, Walter was a quick study, reading and rereading the holy books of the Church of the Sanguinary Mother, the only reading material that made it so far out, spread by wandering missionaries. Walter became highly devout, a faith that he would carry with him for the rest of his life. When he turned 18, Walter left the Western mountains, traveling until he reached the closest city large enough to have a military garrison. He enlisted that day. He didn't spend long there, a Southern city was in rebellion, and the Empire needed to bring in soldiers that weren't from the region to be sure they would stay loyal to the cause. So, young Keth traveled to the South, along with the rest of his regiment. By the time he reached the South, the rebellion in question had been put down. Most of the soldiers then returned to the West
