I don't think I'll be able to post today, I'm working on my homework for a bit and then I'm going to bed earlier so we can beat traffic tomorrow. Hope no one minds, I've taken the pacing of my scenes into consideration and I'll still be able to finish it by whenever this round ends!
Oh my gosh... I have the subscriptions page bookmarked and that's usually what I check first... Well I must have clicked unsubscribe or something because it was blank, and I toootally thought the entire RP thread had been deleted @_@

But now that I'm caught up, these posts are still fantastic >w<
I waited too long to start writing, I just posted and it's 6AM and now I'm going to bed @___@

The room was dark, and Selan lay awake, staring at the ceiling. She could hear the waves crashing against rocks, and she could hear the wind gently brush along the tops of the trees. But much closer, she could hear his soft, steady breathing next to her. As though her body were moving on its own, she left the bed and strode toward the unlocked door with no hesitation. Her nightgown swept across the floor, but she was otherwise silent.

She had only been outside of the room a handful of times, but she had heard the noises every so often, noises no one thought she would be able to hear. But she heard them, as faint and terrible as they were. She followed her instincts, turning left here, right there, down this staircase, through this door... No one was around to stop her.

The basement smelled stale and dusty, and soft whimpers echoed throughout the cramped prison. The only light was provided by a single flickering candle affixed to the wall. Huddled, broken forms were crowded inside, some moving, some not. One pushed her way to the front, and clutched at the crude wooden bars weakly to see who had come and why. Her face was hidden in the darkness.

"Sister..." Selan said, touching her fingertips to the girl's. She was younger than Selan, perhaps only thirteen. Selan felt oddly detached, despite the heartbreak of seeing her people, mere children imprisoned.

The girl relaxed at the sound of her voice. "Selah, you cannot be here," she said in their shared language. "The iron men will do terrible, terrible things to you, as they have done to us."

"What did they do to you?" Selan whispered.

"They care for nothing other than gold. If we refuse them, they will hurt us until we can no longer dance. They will make us cry until we can no longer sing. They will starve us until we die. When you left, they took us in droves. So many of us are gone, either across the sea or from this world. Selah, they lied, they lied! You must not let them find you here! Leave!"

The girl looked up into the candlelight, and Selan could see that both of her eyes were crudely bandaged. The light went out.

Selan fled the basement, the sight of her terrible eyes engraved in her mind. She needed to find her bed, but the staircase seemed to continue on forever.

"Estelle, I don't want to--"

"Estelle, I don't want to hurt you!"" Estelle mocked in a whiny voice, sneering down at Lisette. "How many times have I heard that? You don't want to hurt this, you don't want to hurt that!"

"But it's the truth!" Lisette insisted. Her tears mixed with the rain.

"Then why are you aiming your bow at me?"

"I'm not, I... Ah!" Lisette realized that she was indeed pointing an arrow straight at Estelle.

"That's the spirit, Lisette! Now, can you do it? Can you kill me?"

"No... Never." she answered, lowering her head in defeat.

"That's too bad."

Gliissssh!!

"U-ungh...!" Lisette gasped, looking down at the blade that had pierced her abdomen. Blood oozed from all sides of the sword, and her vision faded to black.

But it seemed as though they weren't finished with Lisette just yet.

Face down in the mud, she began to regain consciousness. Her bow lay just out of arm's reach. She stretched her hand out to grab it, but a red high-heeled shoe stopped her, stomping her hand back into the dirt.

"Nnaaagh!" Lisette cried, thrashing her arm free and sitting up. Estelle, the sword, and the wound she inflicted on Lisette all were mysteriously gone.

Amy towered over her, as though she were the goddess of judgment herself. "Feh. Look who's finally awake. You think you've suffered enough? You don't know what suffering is if you think you're getting off that easily. You're still the same person no matter how much you say you'll change. Syed."

Syed, who always had a kind word or a piece of advice for Lisette, was now deathly silent and refused to meet her gaze. He stepped forward with his ringed fingers outstretched.

"No...!" Lisette cried, just before searing pain flooded every single nerve on her body. Over and over and over, Syed channeled what seemed like all of the lightning in the heavens into Lisette's curled up body. The pain never lessened as it went on, not even a little, and Syed made sure she wouldn't even have a spare moment to cry out for help.

But despite her best efforts, once again she lost consciousness, the last things she saw being Amy and Syed's disdainful glares. Even somehow knowing they would disappear when she awoke again, she would have beared through the pain if it meant they would stay.

Kapi huddled near the back of the box, fearful of being the next one taken away. He was rewarded with both of his sisters being taken next.

Kapi used all of his little capybara strength to ram against the latch to the door. He was rewarded with his oldest brother being carried off, squealing as though he were a newborn. The man who took him wielded a very large, very sharp knife with a flat edge. He once jabbed it through the fence as a "joke", cackling all the while.

There were three of them left, all brothers. They sniffed each other and slept near each other, struggling for even the slightest bit of comfort, but the smells of sizzling meat would wake them from their slumber and fill them with terror.

Kapi eventually realized that the man was taking them in order based on their size, which meant that he would be the very last one, forced to watch the others be taken away.

He dreamt that a smiling girl with freckles and hair that reminded him of golden wheat fields would come to save them, but the very next day, another brother was carried off.

He stubbornly clung to his dream, even though his very last brother was dragged out by his hind leg while the other kicked wildly.

It was hard to dream when he knew his day was coming up next.
Everyone's posts are so inspiring, haha ^^ I even made a new sig and I'm far too lazy most of the time to fiddle with Photoshop, so that's saying something. :p
Ello ello everyone! I'm writing my other posts now ^^

I got caught up listening to music @_@ For months now I've been watching a Korean variety show called "The Return of Superman" that shows celebrity dads taking care of their young children, and one of the dads is Tablo from a rap group called Epik High. I've been looking into their older music and I just have so much respect for Tablo as a songwriter and artist, it was really hard for him to have such controversial songs (for South Korea -- swearing, anti-religion, anti-government, references to suicide and mental illness, etc.) and basically not a whole lot of success, but they're a very well-respected and popular group now. I'm asking for Tablo's book for my birthday c:

These songs are from 2008, so the George W. Bush line was topical at the time, hehe. Tablo is one of the rappers, but he also does the English sections in both songs.

Hope everyone has a great week! My sister's on vacation, and tomorrow (Tuesday) we're going to the beach and the aquarium! :>

Edit: I added Lisette and Kapi's posts to the one I made for Selan so it doesn't get mixed up with today's posts :p
These are all killing me ;A; Lucien especially, and Syed... ;~; And EVERYONE.

I only had time to write something for Selan, but I'll get something for Lisette (and Kapi...) up tonight. :>

Selan finally pulled the comforter off of her body and crawled across the bed to kneel at the end of it. She wore a nightdress made of fine chiffon that was a bit too big for her, and her legs and feet were bare. Looking out the window, she could see thick forest surrounding the small castle, and the sea beyond it. Boats skimmed back and forth over the water, and she could count at least three different colored flags among them. She did not know what the flags meant.

She turned her head. The golden antique mirror on her side reflected a younger Selan, with a sheet of long black hair nearly reaching her waist. A beautiful girl, nearly engulfed by beautiful clothes and beautiful sheets and blankets.

The lock on the door clicked from the outside and slowly opened, revealing a tall, handsome man with copper-colored hair and dark, amber eyes. From his worn leather jacket and boots, she guessed that he had just returned from working. He shut the door behind him.

"Selah," he said, calling her by a name she hadn't heard in years. He took long strides toward the bed and bent down, nearly towering over her. He was blocking the window.

He lingered there with his face just inches from hers, waiting.

Selan shyly turned her head up to give him a light kiss on the cheek, but he roughly cupped her face in his hands and kissed her on her mouth instead. When he pulled away, he smiled wider, and said something that she could not understand. She looked at his hand instead and took it in her own, noticing that there were fresh cuts and bruises on his knuckles. She tried to ask what was wrong. "Cen loth o cian ar cis?" she asked, finding herself unable to speak the common tongue.

He followed her gaze and grinned, saying something that was probably an explanation, but he wasn't talking for very long. He sat down on the bed next to her and wrapped his arm around her, staring out the window. Selan leaned her head against his arm, trying to find some comfort against the hard leather of his sleeve even despite the angle hurting her neck.

She had to. He was her husband, after all.

Lisette awoke in a lush green forest, with sunlight streaming through the leaves and leaving a fascinating and beautiful lacy pattern of shadows on the grass. She turned her palm upward, studying each little dot of sunlight.

I know this place...

A strong breeze rustled her pigtails and skirt, and suddenly black, angry-looking clouds pushed away the blue sky, coloring everything a dull grey. The trees stretched higher and higher into the sky, and the leaves slowly turned brown, falling and crumbling to dust before they hit the ground.

Lisette felt drops of rain hit her head and shoulders, and before she knew it, the clouds poured down on the forest. Whispers filled her ears like crackling static, loud enough to nearly drown out the rumbles of thunder above.

"Lisette!"

Lisette whirled around, recognizing the woman's cold voice. "Miss Amy...?"

"Look what you've done!" she hissed, thrusting her staff behind her. Amy was shaking with anger, and there was nothing but hatred in her green eyes.

No... NO...!!

Estelle was collapsed in tears over Marcus's lifeless form. His body, or what was left of it, was completely covered in blood, and his eyes were glazed over, staring up at the sky but at the same time, nothing at all.

"I didn't... I didn't mean to... I..." Lisette stammered, backing away from the Pride.

"You know what has to happen now, don't you?" Amy said, this time looking in a different direction.

"No, please don't leave, I don't want to be alone, I... Huh...?" Lisette followed Amy's gaze and saw Moira standing in front of a nearby tree, thrusting her greatsword downward and freeing it from something. There was blood on the end of her blade.

A forceful gale picked up the raincoat near Moira's feet and whipped it through the air.

"K... Kapi...!" Lisette choked out, falling to her knees. "How c-could you...?"

"A life for a life." Estelle spat bitterly, tearing herself away from Marcus to face Lisette. "But Kapi's life would never equal Marcus's. I need yours too."

"I promise you, I didn't mean to! Estelle, please!" Lisette pleaded, unable to look at the fury and anguish on her best friend's face.

"Prepare yourself, Lisette." Estelle unsheathed her sword.

Behind her, all of the Pride watched with solemn expressions, their weapons at the ready.

A ring of capybaras crowded around a much bigger one in a shallow river. Kapi, the smallest of the six, squeaked contentedly at being so close to his brothers and sisters and mother. They had just finished their usual afternoon soak, and were about to start their midday swim. Kapi waded through the stream, wiggling his ears and following his siblings, making sure that none of them strayed too far from their mother.

Just moments before, the water was nearly deep enough to swim in, but it was now halfway up his body. How strange.

Now, the river was just a muddy puddle. Still fun.

There was no river anymore.

Wooden stakes emerged from the ground, fencing in the small family of capybaras. There were walls now, and hard floors that were uncomfortably cold and slippery on Kapi's feet. No sunlight, only a small opening in the door that allowed a thin beam of light through.

Creeeaaaak.

The door opened, and a faceless man reached forward, picking up the mother capybara. She thrashed and bit, but the man did not flinch. She was still kicking even when the door closed again, leaving the capybaras in near total darkness once again.
Thank you, hope you're feeling better too!

I'm really looking forward to today's posts >w< I'm going to bed very soon (I took a nap after submitting my homework, not a great idea in hindsight) but I'll probably refresh my subscription page a few times before then, hahah. :>

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!
Ah, I'm really sorry I didn't post in time Pach v.v I was just about to say that I'll post in the morning around the same time I did yesterday, but I forgot you tend to post earlier on the weekend. But it looks like the coliseum scene was wrapped up regardless, right?

I'm not feeling well, I've had a headache all day. :/ Definitely need to ban lysolspray.gif from the OOC!
