Sorry I've been gone so long guys. I had a busy week with rifle and schoolwork, but I'll try to get a post up tomorrow or Monday evening.
Sorry that I've been gone for so long guys. I've had a pretty busy week, but I'll try to get a post up tomorrow or Monday evening if I can.
Sorry I've been gone for so long guys. I've had a busy week. But, I'll try to get a post up once Sera does, if I don't get around to introducing Saelion first. ;)
You're accepted Hallowed. Sorry for my absence over the past few days.
Seeing the sign that it was okay to rejoin Sharphorn, Runa removed her arrow from the bow and placed it back in her quiver before putting the bow on her back. Though they appeared to be friendly now, it was hard to say that they would remain so if she came down the grassy hill with a bow ready to shoot. Once that was taken care of, she stood and made her way down the hill behind Thorgili, who appeared to be at ease among those he had just been ready to kill. As always, large crowds made Runa wary, so she hung back a bit while Thorgili and Sharphorn talked to the halfling marshal about the possibility of traveling together for a while. The halfling appeared to be okay with the idea, which Runa supposed was a good thing. She would have avoided the caravan altogether, but she was willing to concede to Sharphorn and Thorgili's decisions about such things. They were typically better about... well, anything that didn't involve stealth or theft. Not to mention that they were the only two people she considered to be her friends. It wouldn't have done to have abandoned them over something so simple.
The sound of the large wooden doors opening caused Mizzie to jump, her head whipping over to the source as a man wearing a hood entered and closed the door behind him before making his way to the desk. Figuring that he would ignore her if she appeared to ignore him, Mizzie only glanced at him occasionally to see what he was doing, her eyes widening a bit when she saw that he had removed his hood to reveal ears that belonged to a fox. Still, she managed to avoid staring, which would have certainly drawn his attention, as he finished his business with the front desk, dashing Mizzie’s hopes that he would leave by heading to the far end of the bench and sitting down.

Though he was on the other side of the bench, his presence still made it harder for Mizzie to relax. The receptionist had claimed that he was also waiting for Evern, but that didn’t mean that he couldn’t be there to keep an eye on her until they decided the best way to punish her. The sound of the door opening once again kept her from dwelling on the idea for too long, her attention immediately jumping to what could possibly be a new threat. The fact that the new arrival was a female fairy didn’t do much to dissuade the notion that she could be dangerous.

Once again, Mizzie tried to be as discreet as possible in observing her as she moved to the desk and explained to the receptionist that she was there to learn. The receptionist gave her essentially the same response she gave to Mizzie and the fox-eared guy, mentioning that she could sit on the benches to wait for Evern. The elf deviated from the norm by leaning forward a bit and whispering to the fairy, however, sending chills up Mizzie’s spine as her thoughts turned to what it could possibly mean.

Almost as if on cue, the fairy made her way over to the bench and sat down next to Mizzie, taking care not to hurt her wings as she turned and spoke to the little Moon Elf. The attention, despite the fairy’s voice being gentle, caused Mizzie to tense up visibly and set her heart racing. The only thing that kept her from bolting was the fear of causing a scene and acquiring stricter punishment. Instead, she pulled her bare legs, mottled with silver like her arms and torso, up onto the bench and wrapped her arms around them. With her tongue feeling like it was glued to the roof of her mouth, she was unable to respond to the fairy verbally, though the latter’s mention of learning from the people at the guild elicited a slightly puzzled expression and a tiny shake of the head.

It certainly didn’t make sense for a guild of magic to teach a Dark Mage anything at all, though she could see why they would take in someone like the fairy, Sera, as a student. She was probably really good, the opposite of Mizzie, and she was really beautiful. Denying her would have certainly been a foolish move. Mizzie still wasn’t sure about the boy at the end of the bench, however. Sure, she could definitely see him being a student as well, but he seemed too quiet for that, an observation which reinforced the notion that he was there to keep an eye on her.
Thanks for you coope- Oh look! A bunny! XD

I just posted. I was waiting for someone else to post as well, as that would have given me more to write about, but I figured two days was long enough. :P
As Claire had feared, the little pixie seemed completely unbothered by the fact that her boss was the leader of the Wyldling gang. His remark that Adin had been vague because he planned on selling her out did strike a weak point, however. She had thought it strange that he would have her there for a deal, as even Wyldlings found Changelings uncomfortable to be around. And it was strange that he sent her to acquire the ingredients for glam, as he had never sent her anywhere outside the Junkyard before. In short, nothing he had said or done fit any of his usual patterns, erratic though they may be.

The pixie seemed to realize he had gotten something to stick, as he explained that he wanted her help with something that he didn’t want to talk about. A gentle, melodious tune spreading through the air cut him off before he could finish what he was speaking, not that Claire really noticed. It was just a vague sense that his voice had ceased as her vision was filled with thick darkness. The darkness was accompanied by a burning sensation that caused her eyes to water and her lungs to spasm fitfully, her coughs muffled by the arm she held in front of her face.

Almost as soon as it began, the memory dissipated like fog on a bright, sunny morning, leaving her gasping and rubbing at her eyes as she tried to recover. To get her mind off the experience, she went back to stirring the glam, concentrating solely on the alchemy keep from reliving the horrible, horrible memory. The laugh coming from the little pixie drew her attention back to him and what he had been saying about Adin and his request. Absently, she noticed that his hand was dripping a tiny amount of blood as he spoke, returning to his topic quickly. It was quite odd for a pixie to be more than a ball of impulse, as that was how they usually seemed to be, but that made it a little… refreshing. In a way, they were both true and genuine oddities.

She was a little puzzled by his mention of reading, as it certainly didn’t seem like something that required a Changeling’s assistance. But, he had said that he didn’t want to speak of details where they were, which meant that there was most certainly more to the story than reading bedtime stories. She didn’t say anything, however, knowing that she wouldn’t get the response she was looking for.

His assurance that the leader of the Seelie Court, known more commonly as the Queen of Souls, was after her was a bit alarming. She certainly couldn’t have anything to do with them! What on earth could she have done to attract that kind of attention from the leader of one of the most powerful gangs in the Blight? It definitely didn’t make any sense, but then again, neither did Adin’s orders or a pixie that wasn’t a part of a swarm in some fashion.

“I don’t suppose you’ll let me say know, huh?” Claire said, biting her lip as she turned the glam off, satisfied that it had cooked to completion. It wasn’t her best work, but it would do nonetheless. She began filling her little bottles as she continued. “And, I suppose that even if you would, I wouldn’t want the Queen of Souls finding me. Can’t imagine that would be pleasant. So, where do you want to take me?” While she waited for a response, she grabbed her cloak and threw up the hood, ready to move when the pixie said to.

In a way, it was a little saddening that she would be leaving, what she considered to be, her second family. They had taken care of her in a time when she knew that no one else would have, and it hurt to feel that they had betrayed her like a stray dog. She tried not to dwell on those thoughts and emotions, figuring that it wasn’t the time to be doing so. If all went well, there would be plenty of time for that later.
I would say at least 10 feet (3.05 meters), but probably closer to 15 (4.57).
As I was skimming these in order to find out where new posts began, I saw Adam's name and almost had a heart attack. Please don't do that to me again. :(

As for the topic at hand:

In order to make a bond with anything, a ritual must be performed. What is used in the ritual depends on what is being bonded, while the exact ritual used has some slight stylistic differences between Conjurers. Some claim that a certain way is more efficient while others claim that a different way is more powerful. The one thing that remains the same, however, is that a ritual must be performed. Typically, a novice conjurer will not have made a bond with a living being, as the ritual to do so is more complex and requires a greater knowledge base. Some have by the time they join the College, but they have typically had a richer education, like nobles would have. It is very unlikely that someone traveling through the woods will have the knowledge to make a bond with a living creature. However, Conjurers do find it easier to befriend creatures and such, so it isn't unlikely that he would have an animal companion of some sort, though the College might frown upon a massive wolf, at least at first.

For the materials used, they always have something to do with the nature of the creature in question. A phoenix, for example, would require ashes or something similar in their ritual. Some creatures can have multiple items that match their nature. Though debated, there hasn't been conclusive evidence that a single item makes the bond any different after a ritual. After years of being bonded to a Conjurer, the use of magic does become noticeably more efficient, but that is for the magical bond. A normal bond, like friendship, does make it easier later, once the mage develops the magical bond, but it's not one hundred percent efficiency of course. Also, an animal without a bond, while friendly, is still just an animal and would receive no benefits until the magical bond was made.

I hope that that cleared up some questions.
