@All: The first post is up, so feel free to post when you can. XD
The sudden sound of the driver-side car door opening was what woke Avery, who had been more or less curled up in her booster seat, which she unfortunately needed due to her diminutive stature. After a taking a moment to wake up a little more, she released the seat belt, opened the door, and hopped to the ground. “Enjoy the ride, kiddo?” her dad said from the back of the vehicle, a navy blue Honda Civic, as she stretched her body. She merely nodded in response, unable to speak as a yawn took over. Her dad just chuckled to himself and finished pulling her luggage from the trunk of the vehicle.

Most people would probably not assume that Mr. Richard Thompson was Avery’s dad on first glance. With his curly, dark blonde hair and rugged, angular facial features, there was virtually no resemblance between them, the only exception being that they shared the same sky blue eyes. But, it was clear that they were related in some way to anyone that observed them for more than a few seconds, as Mr. Thompson obviously cared for Avery like a father would a daughter.

The cool end-of-summer breeze rustling the trees, whose leaves had just begun to change color, made Avery wish briefly that she hadn't packed away her purple jacket already as they took their time walking to the girls' dormitory. Classes weren't going to start until the next day, and there were relatively few people about at that moment, so there was no reason to rush. Despite the fact that the two of them were taking their time walking towards the girls' dormitory, they arrived in what seemed like no time, stepping through the elegant doors and into the lobby.

It was clear from the pale pink walls that the lobby of the dormitory wasn't meant to feel like the lobby of a business. Most of the furnishings in the room were potted plants, usually sporting purple or yellow flowers, and a couple of paintings on the walls. In fact, most of the chairs in the room were foldable, and had probably been set out just for check-in day. Considering that no one was currently there except for them, a lady on the phone behind a medium-sized wooden desk at the back of the room, and a couple of girls who were setting up signs to welcome the new students, Avery and her dad didn't have to worry about the chairs at all, simply walking up to the desk and waiting to catch the woman's attention so that Avery could get checked in.

After a few moments, the woman was able to get off the phone, turning to greet Mr. Thompson with a smile, unable to see Avery over the desk. “How can I help you, sir?” she asked, brushing a strand of dark brown hair over her ear.

“Actually, I'm here to check-in my daughter, Avery Thompson,” he replied, lifting one of Avery's bags over the counter so that the receptionist could see. Predicting the woman to ask for an id, Avery had already pulled out her student card, which she had received on orientation day the previous month, and laid it on the counter.

“Oh, okay then,” the woman said, sounding a bit thrown-off. “Let me just run the number through, and... here it is. Room Two-oh-three.” With that, she opened a drawer and withdrew the key for the dorm room, which was similar in appearance to a credit card, handing them to Mr. Thompson and pointing towards the stairs that would lead them to the dorms.

“Thanks,” he said, though the woman was unable to respond verbally because the phone was ringing again. Though she knew that she probably should have, Avery refrained from saying thank you to the receptionist as they left in the direction she had indicated. It wasn't as if the woman had actually dealt with her, however, so she didn't bother over-thinking it too much.

Rather than take the stairs up to the second floor carrying most of the luggage, Mr. Thompson stopped at the elevator and pressed the button to call it down, grateful that no one was occupying the thing at the moment. That was one of the nice things about being early to a place, he supposed. The elevator dropped them off on the second floor right across from room 214, with 213 on the left and 215 on the right. So, following the order, the two turned left, keeping an eye out for 203 as they walked.

It didn't take them long to find it, and, after a couple of attempts to get the mechanism to read the card key, they were inside. The room itself seemed rather spacious, though that was a common feeling for Avery, with one door on the left, leading to the bedroom, and one door, leading to the bathroom, on the right about halfway into the room. The very front of the room appeared to be set up like a little foyer, with a coat rack and shoe rack. Immediately beyond that was a living room type area judging from the forty-two inch television on a stand close to the bedroom door and a sofa opposite that. At the very back of the room was a kitchenette, with a sink, microwave oven, and refrigerator.
The floor of the dorm room was carpeted with soft black carpeting, probably chosen to help conceal any stains, which matched the lilac-colored walls just fine. The interior of the bedroom was pretty much the same, and it contained two twin-sized beds with space underneath them for storage. There were also two dressers on opposite ends of the room and a nightstand beside each bed. A small desk for working on schoolwork also sat next to each nightstand.

Once they had dropped off her luggage, with Avery promising that she would have everything unpacked by the end of the night, Avery went to go investigate the bathroom, which, not suprisingly, failed to keep the same interior design as the bedroom or the main area of the dorm itself, replacing the black carpet with dark blue tiles and the lilac walls with white walls. Inside, there was one toilet next to a sink with a mirror above it and a cabinet beneath, and a tub/shower with a floral-print shower curtain.

Her investigation complete, Avery returned to the main area, a smile of excitement on her face. Though she had been apprehensive about attending college, the luxury of the facilities helped soothe that anxiety, if only because it made the dorms seem like a great place to live. “Don't you think that you should get your stuff packed away now so you don't have to do it later?” her dad asked, stopping her before she could plop down onto the couch. “I'll let you know if your roommate arrives, so don't worry about it.” Before she could offer a protest to that suggestion, he had ushered her into her room to pack her stuff away, which she did, if not happily.

Avery grabbed her changing supplies and went about changing into a fresh Pull-up before she actually went about putting her stuff away, starting with her changing supplies, the smell of baby powder clinging to her as she worked. Her mind wasn't really on unpacking her stuff, though. Instead, it was focused on what her roommate would be like and how hard it would be to keep her abilities a secret from her. It had been hard enough keeping it a secret from her dad. How would she manage keeping it a secret from someone her age living with her?
No, I meant that it's a good picture. :P I had to follow the link to the webpage.
@Whisket: Good. I was afraid that people would start dropping like flies unless they got the required dosage of roleplays. :P

@Mr. Wiki: No problem, and the picture is okay. :3

@All: Sorry that it's taking me so long. I went to visit family today and now my dad is going to work on my computer. I should still be able to get it up tonight though. :3
I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get that post up guys. Sorry.
Everyone may now post in the IC thread! ~Snips ceremonial ribbon~

@Mr. Pink: I'm going to have to say Iron Man. :D
The ground near the beach quivered ever so slightly as Dani lifted a medium-sized boulder out of the ground with her powers and threw it towards the straw figures twenty-five yards away. Unfortunately, the boulder failed to make it quite that far, crashing to the ground at nineteen yards. Dani’s only reaction at first was to bend over and try to catch her breath, sweat coating her forehead and exposed arms due to a combination of exertion and equatorial warmth. While she could easily have nailed the targets with smaller rocks, she had been trying to increase the weight she could use effectively. Of course, such a goal takes quite a bit of work before it becomes realized, resulting in a lot of frustration on Dani’s part.

With a grumble, she made her way to the beach towel sprawled out under an umbrella, popping open the cooler and pulling out a bottle of lemon-flavored Gatorade once she was positioned in the shade. The sound of the waves rolling in and out from the shore did a little to soothe the frustration she was feeling. A sudden, large gust of wind blowing over the beach drew her attention away from the results of her training, her hand grasping onto the umbrella to keep it from flying away. It was gone almost as quickly as it had come, however. “Sorry! That one got away from me!” the voice of Dani’s twin, Lexi, called out. Within a few moments, Lexi was there as well, a small eddy of wind tossing sand as she dropped a few feet to the ground.

Lexi’s own face was covered in sweat just as Dani’s had been, the exertion of training evident. Just as Dani had trouble moving large boulders, Lexi had trouble moving large volumes of air. It wasn’t that it was impossible, just that they were more prone to having their control slip. But that was why they were training after all. Without having to be asked, Dani reached into the cooler again and pulled out a bottle of strawberry-flavored Gatorade for her sister, who took it with a grateful nod. After taking a couple of drinks, Lexi sighed, sitting next to her sister and enjoying the beautiful scene before them.

“Do you want to call it a day?” she asked her sister, too tired to say much more than that. Dani nodded in response, and the two began to pack up their things so that they could be taken back to the house, a large mansion-like structure that all of the members of the Alliance stayed in. As the twins had only arrived about a week ago, they weren’t all that familiar with absolutely everyone, though they could recognize a few faces. Still, everyone had been friendly enough, and it was a very great place to live. Though it sounded cheesy, they were kind of like a big family, if not as close as one would expect.

The walk from the beach to the mansion only took a few minutes to complete, while the storing away of the items took another few minutes. After taking care of that, the twins decided to head to the rec center to unwind a bit and, maybe, get to know some of the other heroes in the Alliance a little better. Though neither of them were spectacular at talking to new people, it certainly couldn’t help to at least try, especially if they were going to be teammates down the road.

Surprisingly, the rec room was rather empty at the moment, though someone had left the plasma screen television occupying a good chunk of one wall on. With neither of them possessing much interest in soccer, or football as it was known in other places, Dani found the remote and turned the television off while Lexi set up the pool table, one of their favorite games to play in the room. Hopefully some of the others would come in before too long, which would make the atmosphere of the room a little more lively and comfortable.
@Rin: It's looking good. :D
Sorry it took me so long guys. I got kind of busy. But, hopefully that allows things to pick up a bit. ;)
Traveling through the gate to the great city on the back of his dappled horse, though still only going the speed of the traffic around him, Saelion took in the sights and sounds. Most of his kind lived in cities like this, so it was really no problem adapting, though he wasn’t quite so used to seeing so many different races in one place. Elven cities didn’t exactly breed diversity after all. Still, he wasn’t as shocked by the diversity as another might have been due to the fact that he had been in the Order of Secar with others of numerous races.

Deciding to make his way to the College as quickly as possible, Saelion branched off from the main crowd down an equally large, but slightly less crowded street. Before he got too far, however, a hawker caught his attention and drew him over to the display of his wares. Feeling a bit exuberant, he purchased a piece of jewelry that the man was selling, tying the beaded cord behind his neck after handing the man the fare he asked for, which was actually far too high for the quality of jewelry. Still, it wasn’t much to Saelion, so he let it go and continued on his way, eventually arriving at the College before the midmorning bell.

Once he arrived, he dismounted and took his packs off his horse, instructing the stable hand to take good care of it before heading inside. He wasted no time in heading to the desk and offering his name, the woman nodding as she scribbled it down on a piece of paper to her right. With that done, she gave him the same instructions that she had given everyone else: to wait for Evern to show up, which he should be doing soon. Waiting was fine with Saelion, as it gave him time to meet with some of the others and get to know them, though he figured that he would have to avoid the Moon Elf girl, who had flinched upon seeing him.

Almost as soon as he reached the benches where the others were waiting, an older –looking man in a robe appeared from one of the side hallways, incidentally at the same time that the bells began ringing to signal the time. Ten times they rang, the man waiting to speak until they were done. “My name is Evern,” the man said, his voice carrying a southern accent. “I’ll essentially be the supervisor of your group, and the guide for the tour. So, if you’ll get yourselves together, we can go.”

A few minutes later, they were heading down one of the hallways of the building, opposite the one he had entered by. The walls were well decorated with brilliant tapestries displaying acts of magic and might. The halls themselves used mana globes, little glass balls that were enchanted to give off light when turned on, to keep the dimness of the wintry weather at bay. Small vases containing vivid arrays of flowers sitting on tables here and there further helped to dissipate any gloom from the weather.

“This right here is the dining area,” Evern said, stopping momentarily to gesture through the wide-open double doors that lead into the huge room where several tables housed people talking amiably while they ate. “It’s open practically twenty-four/seven, though the cooks do get a little testy when you come in out of nowhere asking for a meal. Remember that.” That said, he started again and lead them down the hallway a ways before stopping and explaining that the area in front of them was the infirmary. He seemed to believe that that spoke for itself, however, and continued on past the large room with barely a pause.

“This room coming up around this corner up here is the most important for you guys to remember. It’s your classroom, where you will be expected every morning at promptly eight o’clock, or the early morning bell as it’s called,” he said, leading them to the room shortly after he finished speaking. It wasn’t as large as most would expect, but it was large enough to host a couple of training dummies in the back, presumably for practice with aiming spells. The room was also well-furnished with tables for classwork.

“The last room that I need to show you is where you will be sleeping,” he continued after a pause to let the students take in the classroom. Incidentally, it took another turn and several yards before they reached the door that lead to their quarters. Opening the creaky door, he allowed the students to peer inside and satiate their curiosity. Strangely enough, the room appeared to be divided into smaller rooms, with two thin walls on either side immediately upon entering the door. These divisions continued down to the walls themselves. “Each one of you will receive one unit with room for a trunk and a small washbasin. The beds are already in there,” he continued. “The bathroom is through that door opposite the dorm itself.”

“If any of you are wondering about the library, it is off-limits to new magi like yourselves,” he said, tone a little sterner than before. “All we need around here is some fool child thinking that they’re going to be the next Magnus Black and blowing themselves up in the process of trying things they aren’t ready for. You’ll have access to the library either when you’ve proven yourselves capable of the basics and not likely to kill yourselves in some fool attempt at magic. Now, if there are no further questions, feel free to claim your bed and pack away your belongings. Lunch is at one o’clock and your classes begin tomorrow morning bright and early. Until then, feel free to become acquainted with the facility.” And with that, he turned and left, apparently on other business. Saelion didn’t pay it too much mind, however, and went about claiming a unit in the corner of the room. Compared to the sleeping arrangements of the Order, these were actually pretty luxurious.
