The Guardians of Dara - Fantasy

I sort of thought of Stephen King's "It" a bit; similar in that the previous adventures are a prologue to the upcoming plot. But having the characters as older and influential in Dara, as rulers, means that they inherit the mantle and have to make big decisions as well. I felt like a break from having village kids pick up swords.

Although there is some appeal to a bunch of idiot kids trying their hand at adventure and failing horribly.

This seems rather cool, actually. Nobody ever plays older characters- It would be refreshing to see some older characters being used in a fantasy setting.

Clan/Bloodline: Tachibana Bloodline, from a clan that once contained legendary swordsmen. One in particular was revered almost like a legend, although much of the respect for this clan has faded with the many years.

Chakra Nature: Water

Personality: Ryuuko is a calm, polite and caring individual so long as she doesn't succumb to her Kekkai Genkai. When she is affected by a Battle Trance, her alter ego takes over and she changes into a cruel, heartless woman who will carelessly discard any life that isn't her own. She is a pacifist by nature, but feels a protective instinct for others around her, one that will lead her to protect them with all of her strength when necessary. She trains more as a form of meditation than for the sake of combat, a fact that shows very strongly in her relaxed and level-headed demeanour during the heat of combat. She feels a sort of debt towards her village for allowing her to vent her alter ego's blood lust on missions, as otherwise she might be forced to take innocent lives in order to sate the Blue-eyed Demon's hunger.

While there are ordinarily special circumstances that trigger her Battle Trance, simply feeling blood lust is enough to jolt her alter ego into position, on the rare occasion that she experiences such feelings. Compared to her normal state, her alter ego is a vicious, hot-headed killer who makes it her duty to defy death at all costs, while spreading as much death to her enemies as she can and accomplishing her goals when it interests her. She's sadistic, brutally focused on her goals and virtually impossible to deter through any conceivable means. It makes one wonder what kind of monster Ryuuko's ancestor must have been, to slay such a foe in single combat...

"Yuuko"
A knife that, while passed down alongside Ao, has no relation to the Curse. Still, it has been forged using an ancient technique, and proves an unbreakable opponent when faced with all but other objects of enchanted origins. Its blade is no sharper than any similarly designed knife, but its strength lies in the fact that it can stand up to great force without breaking, and intelligent use of this trait can allow its wielder to escape a wide variety of situations. Once praised by Ryuuko's mother as being a "Reliable weapon", where Ao is "Treacherous and cruel."

"Ao"
An ancient sword that should have been reduced to nothing long ago, but remains intact due to some powerful force. This is the blade that once plunged through the heart of the Blue Eyed Demon, and it possesses a unique ability of its own besides simply functioning as an extremely effective killing tool. When the blade is on its wielders person, sheathed or not, it will possess a strange ability to sense blood lust. When unsheathed, the user can read the vibrations through the grip of the blade and use it to tell the location of whatever blood lust is nearby. It's unknown whether the blade had this ability before it had slain the Blue Eyed Demon, but the ability seems very closely tied to Ryuuko's curse. When in a Battle Trance, Ryuuko's blood lust is so strong that the blade vibrates continuously, significantly increasing its cutting power.

Kekkai Genkai

Name: The Blue Eyed Demon's Curse
Description: Ryuuko inherited the same curse once possessed by her mother, which opens her mind to the spirit world and allows one spirit in particular to enter her body and control her actions at any time it wishes. This isn't just any spirit, however, it's the spirit of the perfect killer, a brutal demon who terrorized the Land of Water a long, long time ago. Their reign of terror was put to an end by one of Ryuuko's ancestors, but in the moment her blade passed through the demon's heart they cursed her to bear their blood lust for all of eternity.

Ever since then, the curse has been passed on through every firstborn female child in her ancestor's legacy. This is the source of Ryuuko's curse, and like that demonic individual all those years ago, her curse gives her the distinctive eye colouration once possessed by the monster of a individual called the Blue Eyed Demon. When in this unique "Battle Trance", Ryuuko is forced to embrace an otherworldly entity and enter a state of heightened awareness, one superior to what an ordinary human would be capable of. After the spirit has left her body, she experiences severe physical illness for a time, due to the horribly violent thoughts overflowing from her regularly pacifistic mind.

Jutsu:
As a close-ranged fighter by nature, Ryuuko primarily makes use of quick-acting ninjutsu with minimal handseals or techniques that act to either supplement her non-combat utility or aid her in combating other close-ranged combatants. Additionally, various taijutsu and kenjutsu are at her disposal, each designed to take full advantage of her speed and skill. Unlike most Shinobi, Ryuuko hasn't actually completed and mastered all of her academy-level techniques, but sacrifices had to be made to permit such extensive swordsmanship mastery at such a young age.

First day of the new school year...
...encountering somebody new, and they're a robot?
Satsuki freezes at the sound of a voice, strangely artificial tones emanating from what she had thought to be thin air. She doesn't turn at first, waiting a few moments before the voice continues, introducing itself as her junior. Now she could be certain that the strange, robotic voice was coming from another student, so she couldn't just continue to ignore it as she was. Tilting her head towards the voice's source, she hesitantly allows her gaze to envelop the strange individual standing before her. It was a boy, that much she could hazard a guess at, but matters such as this were not exactly her specialty. He was holding some sort of small computer, and that must have been where the voice had come from. She allows them to stand in silence for a short time, until her good mood finally gets the better of her, driving her to conversation.

"Good morning..."

She speaks clearly at first, but soon drifts back into the silence of her thoughts. She pauses, and continues what she was doing, seeking comfort in the familiar activity. She slowly places her change into the machine in front of her [i](not the one in the boy's hands), and inputs the simple code for her desired snack. The machine makes a loud noise as the various workings move along, pushing the bag forwards. Just when it was about to drop for her, the bag gets caught, and her chips sit frozen in their place-

"Oh."

Her snack didn't seem to be coming, and for as long as it sat there in its place, her mood dropped accordingly. Until, at the last moment, the bag pushed itself over the edge and fell down into its little cabinet. Relief spread through her body, although her expression didn't show it. She leans down and reaches into the compartment, seemingly intent on claiming her prize before turning to face the boy directly. A haze of discomfort crosses her expression as she accidentally gazes at the boy's face, so she quickly looks away, continuing their conversation where they left off-

"...Todoroki Fuyuki. I'm Tori Satsuki, and this is my third year."

Clutching her chips protectively, Satsuki begins to move, as if to return to the library. Halfway through the motion, she sends a cautious look in Fuyuki's direction, as if wondering if he would continue the conversation. Either way, she would begin walking back towards the library entrance, her movements noticeably less stiff than before.
