The Legends of Hyrule- The Drifter Saga

Race: Desert Zora

Race Description: The Desert Zora were a small splinter colony of normal Zora once. Living outside Hyrule on the far side of the Gerudo Desert peacefully with their own oasis, these Zora were nothing special. However, a group of Dark Sorcerers happened upon them and took the action most Dark Sorcerers took upon meeting the Zora, destroying their source of water. The peaceful Desert Zora were helpless to resist this, and no hero was there to save them. The Dark Sorcerers wished to make servants out of the Zora rather than slaughter them outright, and so taught them strange rites that bound them to the Dark Sorcerers power in return for adaption to the desert. Dark magic and strange rituals with a price in blood slowly changed the Desert Zora. Their fins became short and stout, their blue scales rough like sandpaper and colored in reds and tans as the sands. Their eyes tinged red with the fell price they paid. Eventually, the Dark Sorcerers fell to the only enemy they could not master, time. The Desert Zora forgot the source of their powers, forgot who they were before, and never realized their rituals were dark magic. A life for a well was the only way they knew to survive. But one Shaman-in-training found that price unacceptable, Musou.

Non-Battle Occupation: Shaman/Raincaller. If you don't mind bleeding, Musou can make your wish come true... At a cost likely greater than the blood spilled in the ritual.

Weight: 176
Distinctive Proportions: As a Desert Zora, both Musou's clothes and physical appearance are incredibly distinctive to most, often not recognizable as a Zora until second glance unless only looked in silhouette . He has grayish tan coloring, completely devoid of the blue tones of normal zora, his eyes are tinged red with an unrelentingly hard stare. His clothes are mishmash of his own and of the prizes he took as he wandered through the desert, the black runed tans of his homeland with garishly colored blues and red silks from the Gerudo.
Frame: Masculine, but not so much that he overcomes the "most Zora are androgynous twigs to everyone not Zora" syndrome.
Description of looks: He carries a Gerudo Naginata, red silken banner trailing from it just below the blade. A deep blue scarf is around his neck and waist, also trailing a bit. The rest of his clothes look appropriate to a shaman or monk, covering much of his body in a neutral tan, and are covered in strange black runes of a corrupted Hylian divergent from actual Hylian from long isolation.

Main Weapon (Required): A Gerudo Spear/Naginata (OoT style), picked up when he traversed through the desert.
Sub Weapon (Optional): Dunno if his dark magics would count, but he has em.

Type of Artes: Three Styles In Particular, Curse Magic that emphasizes weakening the enemy, his Honorable/Chivalrous defensive/protective Naginata style, and then Bereserk kill everything with anything he can lift.
Fighting Style: Musou is a berserker who realizes he is one, and a caster whose dark magic has a cost in blood, a Dark Knight. Before engaging, he will think tactically, cast debuffs on his foes, weighing the cost in his strength vs the hindrance to the target, and try and pick the best time to engage. Initially in direct combat, he fights with an semi-honorable pride as a chivalrous warrior. But once his muscles start pumping and his own blood flows across the battlefield, he loses himself to the curses woven through his blood by his dark heritage.
Tools: Desert Survival Gear, Ritual Gear.

Physical Weaknesses: Ice, cold, and water. Due to his physical changes, he can't actually swim. He can breath underwater, but he can't swim. And his normal Zora weaknesses to ice and cold have been compounded by his desert heritage. Low Physical Defense.
Physical Strengths: Highly resilient to heat (but not immune), High Physical Offense, can easily "swim" and otherwise traverse through whirlpool dunes and quicksand.
Personal Weaknesses: Honorable Pride. This can be thought of as a strength, but this is not that kind of honorable. This is the "Goku giving Cell a Setsu Bean" level of Honorable, a reckless pride that insists on fighting opponents one on one without taking advantage of moments of weakness and allowing them to ready themselves for battle. Berserk. The only time he'll stop being honorable is once he's lost his senses and just rages across the battle as a berserker.
Personal Strengths: Chivalrous. He does also have the nice kind of honorable, with a hint of excessive kindness to the ladies. Loyal. Unless he's berserk, he would gladly throw himself in the way of attacks headed towards his comrades, if he believes they are in danger.

Perks: Strength and Endurance. His harsh lifestyle and draining magic have honed his physical form's raw power.

Elemental Immunity: Resistant to Fire and Electricity, but not actually immune to either.

Limit Breaker: Musou loses control over his dark magic, and it surrounds his with a dark purple aura as of flames, dramatically increasing his strength to scales of titanic proportions for about a minute or so. However, his berserk state worsens and he loses much of his ability to tell friend from foe, simply lashing out at the strongest and closest beings.Once the magic has exhausted all the power left in Musou's body, he collapses.

Character Growth Opportunities: Overcoming his berserk nature, pride, and reliance on dark magic would all be growth aspects I'd like to investigate.

Ah, about the Kekkei Genkai, I was going off of the lore of the Innue's Amameko and Kei. Quote as follows, "as well as the young Kei, who possessed the synthetic Kekkei Tota that Ayameko and Yggdrasil has designed." I figure if there can be an artificial Kekkei Tota, why not an artificial Kekkei Genkai? I also talked with the creators of the thread and they were fine with it.

As for the time lapse thing, no, I've never watched that anime, and secondly I'm intentionally leaving that blank in case someone wants to play the character responsible. I like leaving hooks for other players to use in my backstory. If you wanted, I could come up with the technique that allowed it. A reverse summoning technique that takes him to a land where time passes at a different rate would work, for example*.

He knew how to use Chakra on some instinctual level, knowing how to use Path of Truth (As that was just how his chakra works and not any conscious effort, works during Halo contact, btw.) and Path of Body minus the finesse techniques like sharpening the chakra into a blade (as it is throw your chakra at your opponent and that is about as basic off a technique as you can get, for someone whose mind works like Tai Yang). But he did not understand what it was, calling it Inner Strength at the time. He was taught what chakra truly was, how to use it better, and how to use his new Kekkei Genkai.

*which is a hint for which anime I'm actually watching too much of right now. Think classics. If this is also how it is done in whatever HxH stands for, my bad, didn't know.

"Thank so much for your trust!" Allia restored the weapon, and bowed deeply as was polite and modest for a woman wearing a dress like hers. Her face was flush with the joy of the gallant trust that had been placed in her. "I won't let you down!"

Turning to Homura, Allia commented with a pat on Zilant's neck, "If you need to catch up somewhere, let me help. Zilant is fast and tireless." Zilant smiled once again, in his mildly intimidating toothy dragony way, at the compliments. The proud dragon was always happy to be recognized. "Faster than most flyers from Yamagakure over long distances!" True. While no match for the absolute fastest, thanks to the Sword of Sheol Zilant did not tire and could fly near his maximum speed for days on end. He could fly from one continent to another without touching ground, given good winds. Though he would be mighty hungry by the end.

"And he's not neeeeearly" Allia drew out the word as she scratched for one of his ears, "as particular about girls riding with me as he is about men.." Zilant, though turning his neck into the scratch and clearly enjoying himself shook her hand off as he realized her point. His voice grumbled out, "Proper behavior is not a laughing matter, Allia." Turning to Homura, Zilant stared at the slightly diminutive figure, at least diminutive from his perspective. A sniff later, he sought eye contact and spoke again, "I would permit you to ride on me with Allia.." His smile returned, the curls of his lips ever so swiftly unveiling his teeth, "If you are bold enough, little one."

Personality: Tai Yang is a boy of strength, vigor, and discipline. He values his own definition of honor and courage, but does not begrudge others their deceptions and tools. He is still a boy despite his physique.

He has come to appreciate the kindness of the Iwagakure leadership, feeling that putting the people first is a noble and honorable gesture. He realizes some may intend to prey on the weakness of Iwagakure's military, and wants to take a stand for them so that such generous, high minded practices would not go punished. Anyone who thinks Iwagakure is easy prey will have at least one who stands against them. Of course, that's presuming Tai Yang isn't wandering around trying to challenge everyone who he thinks looks like Ezo to a friendly duel, when the time of invasion happens. Or if Tai Yang isn't wandering around trying to find some prize so great that he do his dream of holding a tournament to draw the strongest ninja to fight a tournament over it.

History/Background: Back home, he was the strongest on his island by the age of eight, and so he traveled from island to island, swimming his way to each village. Defeating each village’s strongest, he was pointed ever eastwards towards Iwagakure and the mainland. Arriving in the Land of Earth and Wind at the age of 12 and partaking in a Chuunin exam, he was victorious through the first stage, but just barely, finally meeting opponents who were his match in battle. Dismayed at his weakness, he left to train during the gap between the stages in the exam. When he came back, he was barely recognizable, having seemingly aged years both in body and techniques. However, chakra sensing techniques were able to confirm that it was indeed the same Tai Yang who had left to train a week ago, though he had been infused with a Kekkei Genkai. His techniques and physical ability crushed the opposition despite his naively or stupidly straightforward fighting style.

Likely, some strange mysterious force or person trained Tai Yang. Who he, she, or it, is remains a mystery. ((Feel free to PM me and work up a character responsible.))

Kekkei Genkai: Togateiru Fohku Kohgeki

Togateiru Fohku Kohgeki is a bloodline that permits the synthesis and use of some rather unusual metals with odd properties. It also protects the user from most forms of metal poisoning. So, yay! He can drink blood without getting iron poisoning. Not that he would ever do that.

Special Traits:

Fairly high chakra reserves

Very up front, physical taijutsu and Kenjutsu skills

His skin is interwoven with a weave of extremely flexible and light metal that is highly effective at absorbing lightning and fire elemental attacks, siphoning them off synthetic metal organ located in his abdomen to be slowly formed into chakra or stored for future use. There is a limit to how much it can store safely, so if you successively throw high rank fire and lightning techniques at Tai Yang, he’ll eventually have to vent the attacks back into the atmosphere. The metal also slightly increases his resilience to physical attacks, but the emphasis is in flexibility and so it doesn’t actually help much. The metal is linked to his chakra system through Togateiru Fohku Kohgeki and grows and heals alongside his body. It should noted that this counts as part of his chakra system meaning that it interferes with any chakra accompanying said lightning and fire elemental attacks, It also doesn’t interfere with his body’s natural functions. So, skin based poisons still work on him.

His muscles are supplemented with metal muscles, ala mechwarrior myomer style. It’s very tiring to use them, so it basically works like the gate opening techniques… Unless you’ve been so kind as to present him with electrical or heat energy via his skin, in which case, yay free gate opening technique!

Skeletal structure also reinforced, so that when he uses gate opening techniques and his metal muscles at the same time, his bones don’t shatter under the force of his own movement.

He weighs about an extra 40 pounds now, and it’s very dense weight, so he’s not as good at swimming anymore.

Jutsu

Able to unlock the first two Gates of the Eight Gates technique.

Name: Togateiru Fohku Kohgeki: Full Plate Resurrection

Type: Ninjutsu
Effect: Tai Yang reforges the target’s body’s missing parts with the metals alchemized by Togateiru Fohku Kohgeki. Without a supply of earth or metal to transmute, this technique is very costly. This technique can reforge any part of the body but the brain. If used on someone without the Togateiru Fohku Kohgeki bloodline, they will shortly die of metal poisoning. If killing the target is what’s desired, Tai Yang can simply lace a new metallic organ than pumps out poison into their body. Requires about 10 seconds of handsigns to use with both hands, or about 20 seconds of one handed hand signs, often used when the other hand is tied up touching the target so that the ability can be used on them. If being used on another person, the physical contact must be maintained for the entire time handsigns are being performed.

Effect: This technique creates a coating for the users weapon made of a strange, poisonous metal that is liquid at room temperature and has superfluidity and highly corrosive properties towards metal, similar to gallium on the corrosive properties, only hyped up with chakra to destroy all those “chakra forged invulnerable to physical trauma” weapons and armor. A Togateiru Fohku Kohgeki user is, of course, immune to the poisonous effects. Tai Yang has a coating of this on his katana at all times, but

Effect: Most ninjas reach a point where their bodies are capable of producing more speed than their friction with the ground is capable of handling, necessitating awkward leaps towards your opponent. Tai Yang has developed a technique where he bonds his foot with chakra to the ground so that he can push himself forward as fast as his physique can permit, and then send himself forward even faster by detonating that under his foot if necessary. This technique allows Tai Yang startling maneuverability and speed on the ground. Also of note, is that footwork is of incredible importance to the strength of one’s punches, and Tai Yang is not one to ignore anything that makes his punches stronger.

Effect: Tai Yang’s chakra has a trait of sheer violence when it interacts with other chakra, Tai Yang’s chakra system is even stronger at disrupting chakra that works directly on his body or chakra system than normal. Directly absorbing chakra from Tai Yang is impossible, as it will result in equal loss of chakra from both parties. A side effect of the violence of Tai Yang’s Chakra is that Tai Yang entirely immune to any Genjutsu cancelled by pain, and is extraordinarily resistant to Genjutsu not affected by Pain.
Weakness: Tai Yang’s natural chakra regeneration happens at 25% of the normal rate, and chakra based medicine is actually a useful offensive tool against Tai Yang, as his body will reject it violently. Figure anything else out on your own.

Type: Nintaijutsu
Effect: Tai Yang’s natural chakra system spreads out about another foot or so, and starts interacting with the physical world, generally rebuffing unfocused attacks. This costs 10% of Tai Yang’s Chakra to begin with, and more if he wants to maintain it after a particularly strong attack. If the Halo of the Golden Monkey comes into contact with an opponent’s chakra system, it will begin draining 10% of Tai Yang’s Chakra per second, assuming an A-Ranked level of opponent for chakra, but the violence of the interaction will send violent waves through the opponent’s chakra system, which, while doing no damage, prevents the use of almost any techniques or any ongoing effects requiring fine chakra control. Anything more complicated than “Throw my chakra in a direction” will generally fail. This feedback will also affect Tai Yang, preventing him from using any techniques more complicated than “Throw my chakra in a direction” or the Halo of the Golden Monkey. Note that this technique does not deplete the enemy’s chakra, it just temporarily renders it very difficult to use.
Weakness: Generally prevents him from absorbing fire or lightning elemental attacks with his skin though. Figure anything else out on your own.

Effect: Basically throws his chakra in a direction. If not under the effect of Halo of the Golden Monkey’s contacting an opponent, some finesse can be applied, to create cutting blades of chakra and the like, but otherwise, hey, ram your opponent with physically manifested chakra, projected with extra speed by the taijutsu techniques used to launch it!

Effect: Similar to Path of Body, but it requires finesse, so it cannot be used if Halo of the Golden Monkey is contacting an opponent’s chakra system. Can be used in tandem with Path of Body to create an attack that breaks through both chakra and material barriers, or chakra/material barriers.
