The first battle between China and Japan occurred in the 7th century. Combine conflicts over Korea, piracy and islands in the East China Sea, and you're left with a long standing history of mutual contempt. Coming out of the isolationist period, Japan has no reason for cool relations with any country, spare China. Instead, China is now their foremost ally and war partner.

Incidentally MagnificientOne, I completely agree that an alliance between Britain and France is almost as silly.
^ I am willing to pause the war if an alien invasion of Earth occurs, but only if I keep Flanders.

He hasn't made any treaties with me...that worries me.

New Angleland will soon be paying the Danegeld once again!

Or Sweden with our treaties.

Your treaties have effectively put you onto a different continent as far as this continental war goes.
Thorgili, why do you keep saying "faggotist"? What are you even talking about? And no, I wouldn't consider you beginning fascism in 1864 to be realistic.

Obviously this is just creating a scene, so I'm done. Before everyone freaked out, all that I said was that I don't think an alliance between China and Japan is a realistic scenario.

Point out problems all you want. It's when you take apart every little thing and rake someone over the coals about it is when they get their back against the wall and get mean and you get meaner in return. Be civil and respectful or otherwise that you flying off the rails starts a negative attitude feedback loop with the rest of the RP.

Could you please direct me to where I've "taken apart every little thing and raked someone over the coals about it"? I genuinely apologize if it seems like I've done that, but I really do just want to keep the roleplay on a level of realism that could at least be called sane.
^ It isn't unreasonable to expect the players controlling China and Japan to know that the two countries aren't exactly the best of pals.

Outcast is the only one who can determine what should and should not happen in this game, so I'm not sure why you're complaining so much. Presumably, he approved of the blockade, the revolt against the queen, the Sino-Japanese alliance, and, most recently, China's intervention in the war. If you don't like it, I imagine you could just bring it up with him in private, telling him that you disagree with the course that this game is taking, or, alternatively, not play. Nobody is forcing you to play a game with Pasta Sentient and MagnificentOne.

It isn't a matter of me 'not liking it', it's a matter of it contributing to the absolute separation of this roleplay from anything having to do with reality. The fact that the decisions made aren't to my benefit is incidental. If Prussia decided to found the Thule Society in 1864 and form the Third Reich more than half a century early, I'd be calling out that, too.

If nobody made mention of decisions that go off the rails of reality, the eastern seaboard would be swarming with ships flying the Union Jack. I don't like having to complain, but it is absolutely necessary for someone to mention the infeasibility of some of the actions taken by particular players. Obviously no one is willing to make mention of unrealistic decisions that are to their own benefit, and so it is left to the people who are harmed by such decisions to call them out.
The only way to counteract a decision that is impossible to have been realistically made is to make another decision that is impossible to have been realistically made. It's a feedback loop that makes the roleplay completely take off from the realm of reality. The only way to prevent it from happening is for (relatively) realistic decisions to be made at all levels by all players, from the start.

Does it matter?

Not particularly. Just curious.
