Tap, step. Tap, step. Tap, step.

Yamada left his ground apartment carrying his bag over one shoulder, a paper cup coffee in one hand and leaning heavily on a cane with the other. He'd been lucky enough to find an apartment close to the school, however small it might be. The notion to burn it down crossed his mind. He'd yet to set fire to somewhere people actually lived, strangely enough. It might be a little close to home however, so perhaps another building might do.

Yamada limped the length of the hallway, hugging the right hand wall and avoiding centre where people tended to rush. He bypassed the administration office rather than stop to take a key for the elevator. Checking the class roster now, he noted that his homeroom was on the fourth floor and resolved to leave earlier in the morning to avoid being late. With only a passing glance to gauge how full the class would be, Yamada turned to head for the stairs. The class number stirred his interest only on the most basic level. It was interesting, but not likely to impact anything.

With each step his bag swung on its strap and tapped him gently on the hip. Reaching the first landing, he stopped and leaned against the wall, pulling off the bag and adjusting the strap so that it would be snug diagonally across his back. Retrieving the cane, he finished the long climb to the top floor. He finished the coffee paces from the classroom door. Crushing the cup in one hand, he tossed it into the garbage and limped into the classroom, finding himself to be one of the last to arrive.
Count me interested.

Name: Yamada Atomu
Age: 19
Appearance:

Personality: Yamada is detail oriented and ruthlessly precise. He abhors distraction when he is focused on a task. Yamadas natural enemy is boredom and even household chores can become his best friend and greatest weapon when facing this foe. Caught at the right moment, he'll help just about anyone resolve a problem, albeit only to stave off boredom.

Background: This is Yamadas second Graduating class and third high school. His first two high schools both burned to the ground. The first school burned during a weekend resulting in no injuries. His second school burned during a school day resulting in many students including himself and other transfers from his previous school spending time in the hospital for smoke inhalation and burns. Yamada himself was also credited for rescuing an unconscious classmate that was sick in the infirmary. He now walks with a cane, citing lasting injury from his burns but in fact has no permanent injury.

Both fires were pinned on a classmate that had been working in the library where the second blaze started and had no alibi for the previous incident. Following the second fire, he was found under a fallen bookcase in the ruins of the library, the only fatality.

Due to the missed class time caused by the fires and time spent in hospital, Yamada has restarted his final year of high school.

Secret: Yamada is an arsonist, the true culprit behind the two school fires. What had started as a idle thought that was acted upon turned into a hobby that filled his free time. Between the two school burnings lay a period of activity starting with abandoned buildings and progressed to small businesses. His masterpiece just before the second school fire was the complete incineration of a back vault full of safe deposit boxes that was blamed on the owner of one of the boxes that claimed his key had been stolen or lost.

Each arson was planned to meticulous detail to appear an accident or to frame someone else. His second school fire was no exception. He'd topple the bookshelf in the library and even poisoned the student and had been in the infirmary.

The text on his journal page appears to have been burned into the page with a brand, the letters as crisp and perfect as its owner would like.
Bit of a bump.

Causality: noun

  1. the relationship between cause and effect.

  2. the principle that everything has a cause.

You met the interviewer in a hotel boardroom, sitting across from them at a folding table. He asks you some questions, nothing particularly memorable. Taking a look at his papers, he picks up a phone and makes a phone call. “Hi, relocate the meeting to the coffee shop.”

Your heart feels like it skips a beat and you look around, finding yourself sitting in a nearly deserted Starbucks. The interviewer slips his phone back into his pocket.

“Now, where where we?”
In a sense time travel exists. It hasn’t been invented yet but some time in the future it has. We aren’t sure how it works or why they’re coming here but these time travellers have a goal. We’ve also determined that only a single time traveller can be active at a time with the result that once they have failed in an objective it cannot be attempted again. We can predict when our timeline is vulnerable and take precautions to subvert their plans. That is your mission. We will contact you when a time traveller arrives and your task is to discover their reason for coming to our time period and stop them. Each of you has been identified to have a memory that resists the effect of the past being changed, remembering what you’ve experienced even when the past has changed.

You have three guidelines for your mission. First, prevent all changes to the future where possible. This is your main goal. We don’t know what effect their actions will have and have no way of knowing whether the change will be beneficial. Second, Avoid unnecessary force. Your actions can have as much of an effect on the future as those of the time travellers. We cannot eliminate the effect that their visit might have but we can minimize it. Last of all, prevent yourself from being known to those in the future. It has yet to happen but an agent being uncovered could very easily be killed in the past.
The role of the players will be to prevent any action taken by time travelers. They will not be time travelling themselves. The action will be based in New York with possible excursion to other parts of the world. Each player character will have a memory that is unaffected by changes in the past. This ability is exceedingly rare, meaning that characters will come from all walks of life. The time travellers also share this trait.

The time travelers are limited to a week in our time and cannot bring any kind of technology back with them. They’ll try to affect the future in usually subtle ways but only have a short amount of time to do so. Only one time traveller can be active at a time but this does not rule out the fact that they may have accomplices.

Anyone else around? i saw that Asuras posted about 2 hours ago.
I'm around now, almost 24 hours late.
Asuras said
So, as it turns out, the chance to collab anytime before the early evening is no longer possible with my work schedule. I'll say that I'll be in the chat room at approx. 7 PM (PST) every night, and if you want to collab actively then tell me there. Otherwise I'll put in my responses to the collabs directly as soon as I can, whether you're there or not.

Do weekends suck as badly? 7pm PST is 11 on my coast, which is bad with my work.
