Give yourself a gun like this.

oh, thanks for reminding me that I haven't watch Nobunagun this week.
Real World Name: Katarina Hart

Age: 24

Real World Bio: Katarina was blinded by an explosion at an industrial plant near her college that shattered windows and pelted the students with shards of glass. Of all of the injured, Katarina was by far the worst. She had long since moved out on her own, living in another city and already out of touch with her family. She now lives alone with a caretaker that visits on occasion. Her parents visited often at first but then the visits became rare and when the divorce came even a phone call became a rare treat.

Oneiros Name: Atropos

Appearance: Katarina is tall and thin, typically wearing jeans and a T-shirt with a long sleeve button up shirt. Her hair is long and black, cut to cover the scars on her face as well as possible.

As an Oneiros He wears an additional black cloak and usually a blindfold. Underneath thye blindfold her eyes are featureless black spheres. She carries a large pair of shears and a roll of golden thread that cuts through anything but Atropos herself.

Oneiros Bio: Atropos is calm and collected, enjoying conversations with others but preferring to not cause any arguements. She absolutely hates needless confrontation and would prefer to admit to being wrong than defend her point of view. She wears the blindfold to protect her sensitive eyes from the light which can cause a great deal of pain and even cause her to wake up. Wearing the blindfold she maintains an awareness of her surroundings that is acute enough for basic interaction and navigation.
I look forward to it

Hm, in consideration to how we already have two other characters who are brute force focused (Domenico and Tzu Che), so you might want to figure out something else for Grimm to specialize in. Change that phrase in regards to his shield so that it won't be able to crush the heaviest of plate armors. I'm fairly certain that there will be at least one top tier peep who goes full tank mode and has godlessly heavy plate armor or something.

The brute force is there but the idea being that he mainly specializes in being a super heavy sniper(see below). I've reworded the section about the shield however.

ERode said Seeing how he's currently in Donaieth, it might be reasonable to give his lance a more mechanical spin to it. Perhaps make it into a piledriver instead of simply a lance?

A piledriver is an excellent idea. Initially the gun and lance were to be a single weapon.

ERode said His gun will not be recoilless, unless there's magitech involved. I'm imagining it more as a hand cannon than just a gun though, so feel free to correct me if my assumption is off.

Recoilless rifles are more along the lines of cannons that vent a large portion of the charge out of the back to reduce or eliminate the recoil. They pretty much put a 50mm-100mm cannon in the hands of a soldier to deal with tanks. Grimm would wield one on the smaller end of the scale.

ERode said Where exactly does he get his mechanical intelligence from? He's born in Thao, and they generally give no shits about that, so he wouldn't exactly have any type of base knowledge regarding complex machinery (e.g guns, vehicles), unless his early years of repairing firearms was all trial-and-error-and-textbooks.

There's the part I was forgetting. Initially in Thaos he was more of a siege engineer than a foot soldier, dealing with fortifications and heavy equipment. The early work would have done a lot in teaching him as well.

ERode said Oh yeah, not sure if it was explained properly, but Thao is a place without any laws. Essentially, he wouldn't be in legal trouble if he killed an officer. Hell, if he killed said officer, it'd be more likely that he would be promoted to fill that now vacant spot. You keep what you kill, and all that. So you should think up of another reason for his defection of Thao, or at least expand on his reason for running away.

That's fine, I have some ideas on how to expand on it.

ERode said I'm also liking how a 36 year old looks older than our resident 60 year old.

Initially he was going to be closer to 50. I think I'll go back to that along with moving him slightly away from the brute force work. personally, I think the difference in appearance is that Domenico is aging faster but Grimm is aged by decades of actual combat.

Thanks for the excellent input, I've made changes to the above character sheet.

I think I'm going to have to drop outta this, I can't really find ways to do anything with Leonard and I still feel like I'm below your guys' writing standards. Sorry.

Give it a bit longer. You have a decent character that fills a needed role. Things appear to be slow at the moment but they'll most likely pick up once everyone has gotten together.

Honestly, your writing is fine and miles above some of what I've seen. You'll get better and I'm sure that if anything was seriously wrong than someone would say so.

(Hope I wasn't overstepping any bounds as i don't even have a character here yet.)

No cs at the moments as I'm on my phone (oh the irony) at work. In response to your questions:

I don't see it as necessary to have all of the characters know eacother at the start but it would certainly ease things. Perhaps as compromise have the newer group members be at least familiar with the others, possibly with a prior meeting.

I see ooc as being quite important. Things come up that sometimes can't be resolved ic. Its also nice to chat with the others and separate them from their characters.

I can usually post daily, typically several times and almost guaranteed in the evenings. I tend to make posts on the shorter side but longer ones certainly aren't out of the question.

I've just got a couple of questions before I start on a character sheet:

  1. You mentioned virtual reality goggles. Would these be similar to the Occulus rift or more like true virtual reality(this is for non correctors).

  2. is the recruitment age of 17 a hard rule? are there any situations that might allow recruitment later?

I'd be quite interested in this when it gets off the ground (pun intended)
Count me interested
Figured you guys wouldn't want your important business cluttered up with character sheets so I've placed mine in the interest check thread. here
A piece of my own work may replace this picture later, my scanner is a little bit busted at the moment.

Name: Georgiy 'Grimm' Markov

Theme: Grimms Theme

Age: 52

Gender: Male

Nation of Origin: Thaos, later moved to Doniaeth.

Persona: Georgiy Markov is a large and quiet man, often appearing melancholy. In a crowded room he prefers to sit and watch, picking acquaintences with care before initiating a conversation. He won't shy away from conversation and in fact, he might consider anyone willing to speak to him worthy of a chance. Grimm has an easy sense of humour although word play and stereotypes have the potential to make him angry. He prefers to keep his anger contained with the consequence that it may burst out later. Although preferring to act logically, Grimm sees himself as a protector and may act on his emotions at times.

Equipment: Grimm loves large, solid weapons that he shouldn't have to land more than a single hit with. Along with his weapons, Grimm wears assorted pieces of armour with a focus on his left side along with a half helm. While owning an assortment of weapons, he typically only carries one or two into combat.

Doniaeth 60mm recoiless gun: Primarily used to defeat light fortifications, it fires an explosive shell with enough of an effect to defeat armoured knights and destroy wooden fortifications. It's ammunition is large and he can only carry a handful of rounds into combat.

Heavy driver lance: A heavy pnumatic lance derived from construction equipment. It acts as a pointed battering ram. Typically weilded by a team against a wall or gate, Grimm uses it against heavy targets that his shield and gun can't damage. It's massive recoil causes him to stagger and it is typically left behind when going into battle.

From time to time he has been spotted with a giant metal shield as massive as he is. Swinging it like a bludgeon, he crushes man and beast alike. It is thick enough to stop gunfire and heavy enough to crush through all but the heaviest of plate armour.

Ability/Magic/Technology:

Strength: Grimm is phenomenally strong. The story that followed him when he came to Doniaeth was that he once killed a bear with his fists but in Thaos they say that there were five. In the past his anger and strength have caused him to behave as badly as the worst drunk, destroying even the most hardy of furniture. He has learned to control his anger and his fists so that no more unfortunate accidents happen when he overhears a rude comment.

Intelligence:[/b] Grimm has an inherent understanding of anything mechanical. A rifle is no more complex in his mind than a battering ram. He can improvise a solution to a problem in the heat of battle or repair a badly damaged rifle. Weapon maintenance calms him when angered although an abused pistol can set him off just as quickly as a bad joke. Magic is a little bit beyond his understanding but he considers it to of little problem on the battlefield.

Additional Info: Grimm served as a siege engineer, building massive fortifications and knocking down that of others. He grew bored of the directionless leader of Thaos and left for Doniaeth once he was of age. Grimm applied is mechanical knowledge and began to teach himself the gunsmith trade along with anything else that caught his attention. After many years in the capital he returned to the front line.
