Hi, This interests me. Thought I'd let you know before I just drop a CS in.

Tool stood and watched, listening. A gathering of champions, a forced convergence of power. Being undead, however, there was little reason for him to take the horned girl up on her offer. He stepped nearer to Reinhardt and Ana, the larger of the pair easily spotted. It was always wise to stay close to those that you knew. He only hoped that someone would take the horned woman up on her offer.

Indrau took his place near the head of the column. The single night inside of the keep on a proper bed did wonders for his mood but the week since had quickly eroded it. Constantly being on edge and anticipating an attack didn't help either. Today was no different. Every copse of trees or roadside hill was a potential hiding place for an ambush.

Mostly, however, has was simply bored and ill tempered. There was little within a months ride of Aimlenn that he'd no seen. If he'd been able to keep up the pace perhaps he might have volunteered to scout ahead but his leg had worsened since leaving the fortress at Nev. So Indrau rode in abject silence, a healthy gap between him and anyone else.

Salz had managed to blend into the mass of civilians, as much as a ten foot half giant could at any rate. Somewhere she had found a damaged tent(or three) that had been made into a cloak to cover her armor and weapons. Now she walked near the center of the pack in the shadow of one of the wagons with a kid on each shoulder and a third on her hip. Her presence had certainly helped keep things moving, it was easy to fix a broken axle or get a stuck wagon moving again with someone who could simply lift it along for the journey.

The sheer variety of terrain they had come across was astounding to the desert dweller. All she had known before were the coastal deserts of her homeland and the forests around the Indrau estate.

Shizuri slouched in her hammock tracing characters on the screen of her tablet with her finger. Then her stomach rumbled. She reached out towards the pizza box and barely managed to nudge the lid open before it tumbled, empty, to the floor.

"FID!"

There was an undignified squeek from the top of one of the bookcases and a small head emerged with spots of pizza sauce on the chin.

"Ummm... hey. I think you're out of food here and... uhhh... You're late for your patrol anyway."

Shizuri craned her neck to look at the clock on the wall before climbing down from the hammock and tossing her tablet onto the desk. She strode to the window and pulled it open. With a black marker pulled from her pocket, she wrote the word transform on her hand.

Still wreathed in the inky black tendrils and holding the marker, Kuroe stepped through the window onto the balcony. With the marker, she wrote a poem onto the air.

Featherlight footsteps
Dancing through the empty sky
A walkway of stars

Then the magical girl stepped out into the sky, moving through the air in leaps and bounds over the rooftops.

He sighed and stood up straighter, willing his limbs to be still for just a few seconds. The padding under his armor was staving off the wind but was doing little for the cold.

"I hope your plan has more to it than just telling them we're not a threat. We need to blend in more."

To be honest, little of what she said made any sense. As things were he badly needed to find somewhere warm. Rook left the main street and began to work his way behind some shops and out of the wind. The knight took his coin pouch from his belt and held it out.

"I doubt most of it is any good but there's some gold that should be worth something. I'll need warmer clothing and something to carry my armour in as well. You shouldn't have any problem moving around."

With any luck she could be trusted. Stealing something for himself was always an option but might make things more difficult in the long run. He crouched down in a corner and bowed his head to wait.

Rook nodded at her cryptic answer. It did little to ease his reservations despite her obvious confidence.

"I..."

In his own world it was well known that the Tyrant Sword was a lone survivor out of the coup that gave rise to the Third Empire three hundred years ago. But he hesitated. Now he was with someone who didn't know of the Tyrant knight, the coup, or the Third Empire. Even if he were to give his instinctive answer she would have no idea what he was talking about.

"I grew up on a small farm just outside of the capital of the Third Empire."

This was where he, Rook, was born. At the moment he decided it would be too complicated to to explain the name that he had chosen to give her.

Rook nodded solemnly at the name and continued walking. This was at least approaching a familiar situation. Without following some adventurer or army his life would have been very stagnant.

"You sound like you may be familiar with the area."

He took a small pouch from his belt and hefted it in his hand. Obviously he must have been on the way to a job but at least it held a handful of coins.

"Maybe it would be best to work on blending in first. I think that I may be at your mercy in this."

It was true that blending in had not bee one of his priorities. When your name was known it was worth the effort to be recognizable as well. One the reverse side of things, underneath the armour there was nobody that would be able to pick him out of a crowd.
