hey Lil, have you given any thought to my idea?
Y'know... I'm sitting here watching SAO... And I can't help but think "Wow... this game play is really fucking horrible if it takes so many people to kill a boss... and then so damn many people die in each boss fight... plus there's no battle rezzes or anything (the basic game >.> not after they're trapped) because there's no magic in the game... Boss battles had to be horrible even in the beta because once you die you couldn't do jack shit, so you probably wouldn't get anything from the victory in the end...
I haven't really had anything to say an I'm waiting for Kylie to post
I was thinking about making up a couple abilities for dagger that revolve around crippling and DOT effects seeing as daggers are normally meant for causing crippling damage rather than straight up killing in combat.

Like have one called "hamstring" where you slash at the target's legs to decrease their movement speed...

Or lacerate where you slice at the enemy's arteries and cause them to take bleeding damage over time.

And I wanna say again that I'm sorry for the minor insanity I showed last night... I haven't been up that late in a loooong time >.> forgot how loopy I get when tired... That tends to be when I get my best ideas though as lillium got to see >.>
ok that post sucked... but I'm half asleep now... sorry i didnt do the location or items but you wont believe how difficult it was to just catch myself as I randomly went off tangent because I was falling asleep...
Ellien just nods as the man speaks, "Well... alright... I'll see what I can do I guess..." she says, reaching up to tap the -new message- indicator that had appeared on her display. She didn't hear what he said next, as she was already reading the message, but her concentration was broken by the whooshing sound of an activating crystal "W-wait! I didn't-" she didn't even get to finish the sentence before the man completely vanished, "Get... your... name..." she finishes, before mumbling as she rubs her face "Wow... ignorant... could have at least said goodbye first... she always hated it when people did that... try to talk to you and just *poof* gone... whether it's just roaming off or teleporting away.

"Asshole.." she grumbles, kicking a stone down the little outcropping and watches it bounce down the rocks towards the ground, and she just stands there, staring for a moment before something catches her attentio from in the forest just out of the corner of her eye, one of the mountain's many wolves seemed to have... flown? out of the patch of brush and she couldn't help but be curious as to just what was going on... It took her roughly three jumps to make it down to the bottom of the outcropping, at that time she noticed the wolf burst, the little crystals dispursing out into the air, "well... that's.... interesting..." she mumbles to herself as she approaches the patch of woods where the wolf had come flying out of... With her cloak billowing out around her, she drops to the ground at the base of the tree, allowing the cloak to just bunch up around her, distorting her outline as she huddled over to watch what exactly was going on... At the center of the clearing, stood a rather attractive looking woman with the most terrifying spear she had seen, and in front of her was the largest wolf she had ever seen in the area... it easily dwarfed the tiny ones she had seen in her travels through the mountain... Was this woman the one who decided to shot-put with a wolf? No... she could see that she wasn't worried abou the wolves all that much... but of course that nasty looking spear could probably keep them at bay... Ellien was so distracted by the giant wolf... which she could practically SWEAR was the creature she had been hunting for so long... it's jaws were large enough to just tear the head right off of one of the giant rams.... that she didn't see the smaller wolf flying through the air RIGHT at her. As the wolf slammed into the tree, she recoiled back out of reflex, "ho... holy shit...." she squeaks as she falls backwards away from the tree and looks around frantically before finally notices the man that had punted the wolves... and he definitely noticed the man seem to tackle the large wolf right out from under the woman's spear, somehow managing to pin it to the ground... before just bashing away at it's skull with his his fists until there was nothing left behind "What... the... fuck? she silently asks herself as the wolves littering the ground burst into clouds of data...followed closely by the giant one.

NO!!!! she mentally shriels, no! you can't have killed it! damn it!

She just stares in belief at the wolf that she had just spent well over a WEEK trying to track down...

Frowning, she just stares atr the wolf as it seems to slowly degrade into data... something about this isn't right... something had to have fucked up... that thing had to have been at least mini-boss rank from it's size and level... yet it had dropped jack shit from the looks of it. Her gut was telling her something was up... and since this game started, that had to have been her best friend to go to for advice... She brought up her menu and faced the woman with the spear, and sent her a message saying

Don't you just fucking HATE poachers? I saw you were fighting that thing.. and he just seemed to have randomly been there... Ive been tracking that big bitch for over a week... and I have located a few spawn points... give me a hand and we could split the loot....Party up? and about two minutes after that, she brings up another menu, and this time sends a party requists. once the requests was sent, she'd start climbing the tree, reaching the top and pulling out her pic recorder crystal to take a picture of the giant carcass of the dire wolf.
im sorry I'm just gonna shut up for the night... it seems I have hit the time where my brain over processes EVERYTHING... and in this state, I am seeing the average of speed/agility as the simplest thing in the world... but I've gotten accustomed to tabletop RPing over the last few months playing Call of Cthulhu... which of course teaches you to be afraid of literally everything.... even the other players because theres a damn good chance they'll go insane and try to kill you for no good reason.

so just ignore me from this post on, I'm gonna go try to get the thoughts I had for the IC into a coherent post and shove that out there for kylie to see whenever she gets back, and then im gonna go to bed...
lol no it's not... just the ADHD... sorry...

Lillium said Also, changing this would require everyone to redo their CS. I'm not asking anyone to do all that unless we call for a vote and get majority.

Why...? it wouldn't require any changes, what games out there actually have a dodge skill? it's normally an attribute that can have modifiers added, otherwise it's just an invisible skill that is averaged out from your statistics. All it would take is saying:

"hey, instead of having dodge ONLY be based on speed, we're gonna have it average out with agility so it can't be horribly exploited in the future now that someone pointed out that it can be. There's no need to change your stats or anything, just please take your speed and agility, and average them together, it may not be quite to lore, but SAO was a game that had the players actively dodge and swing attacks, which means that it is actually under their physical control whether they get hit or not and it's all about who's better.

sadly, we cannot replicate this on here, so just to make it fair, we're gonna change the rules. instead of it being solely the one stat, averaging it out with agility will actually help add that element of realism to this game even though we cant actually do the dodging. This isn't technically a stat, it's just that invisible percentage that's there for us to help keep this together.

This same new rule can ALSO be used for hit chance as well, seeing as an intricate blade maneuver may sometimes have an even better chance of getting throughsomeone's defenses than one that's just moving fast/"

sorry... yea... I'll stop... I'm just so used to PVP obsessed assholes... and then I was being trained with call of cthulhu... and if that has taught me one thing it's to never trust anybody... even PCs...

It means that if you haven't played around with the stat and left it as it is, it will be counted as zero (because that skill ) we're the number instead of adding to it because it means you chose to unlock that specific skill and add points to it. Unlocking the skill sets it to 0, allowing you to add your stat points to it. I am not asking everyone to redo their entire CS simply to fix this.

well if it doesn't exist then it would be -/1000

So at level 1 you're given 30 points to spend on anything, and it all starts at 0/1000?

sorry I need to shut up... when I'm up past midnight you'd swear I was drunk or something >.> my mind pretty much explodes out of my skull and I get horrible ADHD... cant stop the thoughts that go through my head... Im a sophisticated drunk scientist!

You raise a whole bunch of excellent points. We (the GMs) have already been looking into this matter but have yet to come up with a solution that'd won't end up with redoing everyone's stats or causing more difficulties for people. Short of redoing most of the stat system, I'm sorry to say that I'm at a loss as to how this can be fixed.r.

Sprint=movement speed

agility=coordination.

if you can move super fast, you can move out of the way.

if you're agile, you can twist/bend/contort out of the way.

Sprint allows you to sprint along with dodging, but you won't be able to do anything really acrobatic with your dodges and they will be clumsy, easy to get with a second strike if predicted right

adility allows you to climb, jump, and do high-dexterity stuff. If your dodges may not be the fastest, but they get the job done... sadly they'll leave you off balance

if you have a good balance of both, your dodge would be as if you had excellent of either. Dodge rating can just be (agility+speed)/2 it wouldnt be that difficult
