“Actually, it wasn’t too bad. Packing and moving-in was always troublesome, but I got to see a lot.” Kathy said, shrugging. “Country-wise, maybe Japan? I was there during early spring and got to see a whole street filled with blooming cherry blossoms.” She smiled at the memory. She had stood out like a sore thumb there and felt uncomfortable every time she was in a crowd, but the view of thousands of delicate petals blowing in the wind had made an incredible impression on her. “State-wise I’d say California. Lots to do there, and the warm weather was great.”

When Crash kicked open the door in the middle of changing, she was beginning to think he wanted to make her embarrassed and suffer from the potential side-effects of high blood pressure. ‘I swear, one of these days I’m going to be the first real victim to die of embarrassment.’ She thought, covering her face to hide her blush and to block her own view. Her responses would have to wait until she could trust herself to remember how to speak normally again. ‘So his entire family is made up of shape-shifters.’ She noted, ‘I wonder what that was like. It must have been nice to have people to consult about your abilities...’

“Ah the jig is up then, it was that librarian earlier wasn’t it? She gave you my full name.” Crash said. Nodding, she slowly lowered her hands again. Her cheeks were still a little red, but it was at the level where it could just be mistaken for makeup or due to warm temperatures. Catching the unnatural way he cut off his sentence, she raised a brow in question but didn’t say anything about it. After a small moment of thought Kathy smiled and told him, “I’ll keep calling you Crash then. I think Caleb’s a good name but everyone else seems to know you by Crash, so it might get confusing if I start calling you something else in front of the others.”

The eyebrow went back up at the serious-expression on his face as Crash prepared to ask another question. After a small but dramatic pause he finally asked, “What is… your favourite colour?” She burst out laughing, knowing he had done it on purpose. “That’s all you wanted to ask?” Nodding in response to his suggestion to talk and walk, Kathy stopped in front of Crash and pretended to make a slight curtsy with a non-existent dress of air just before she went out into the hallway. “I’ll tell you, but I have 3 conditions this time.” Waiting for him to close the door, she continued their conversation with a slight pout on her face. “One, you have to promise not to laugh. Two, you have to tell me yours. And three…” Taking the Acriflex in her good hand, she gently poked him on the right side of his stomach where she had caught sight of a bruise. “You need to tell me how that happened.”
– Leroy

“No, I found nothing.” Answered the dark-haired boy. Shrugging Leroy said, “Pity. But you’ve still got time right?” Watching the guy eat, he took the plate of cake off his tray and placed it back down onto the table. “Hey, do you want this? I didn’t touch it, and I don’t plan on eating it anymore.”

Turning to the guy with the awesome tux, Leroy smiled and replied, “Pretty cool is an understatement. No idea what your Rainbow array is, but if it can make your tux change colours like that then I think it’s awesome.” Picking his tray back up he added, “Leroy, nice to meet you Darwin. I’ll be right back.” Walking over to the trash, he scraped off his unfinished chicken and placed the rest of the tray where all the unclean utensils and the like went, waiting to be cleaned. He then went back to where all the food and drinks were being served, and returned to the table with a glass of water. Holding it out to Seven he said, “Here. It’ll help you get the bad taste out of your mouth.”

I think I laughed way too hard at that one. xD

“Don’t laugh” Crash told her, which of course made Kathy want to laugh even more. “I’ll try but… No promises.” She let out a few light chuckles, but overall did quite well in keeping the noise level down in the hallway. Hearing the offer to go inside to wait, she hesitated for a moment. ‘Just go in. He made the offer, so there’s no reason to refuse.’ Scolding herself, she continued inside. Noting the number on the door as she passed. ‘113…’

Accepting the cream, she smiled in return to his sheepish grin. “Thanks. I actually bought a first-aid kit just before coming here but… I didn’t really get a chance to see everything inside of it yet. I’m sure Oona and Zivon will find this useful.” Reaching up, she gave him a pat well-done on the head. Noting it was faintly damp. “Good thing it was tea. Something like juice would’ve been a lot more troublesome to get out of hair.” Lifting her hand away, she let him go back into his bedroom to get changed. She leaned against the wall opposite of the door as she waited.

She felt another smile come to her face when she heard Crash say her name and state, "Please don't take offense to this, but it's crossed my mind how little I actually know about you..." Laughing she reassured him, “Don’t worry, it’s not offensive at all.” In her thoughts she continued, ‘In fact, the same thought crossed my mind earlier today.’ “As for where I’m from, um…” Kathy had to think about this a little. “Kind of here and there really. We moved every so often because of my dad’s job. A couple of times we even crossed borders into other countries.” She left out her own part in why they had to relocate every so often. More depressing talk could come later or, better yet, never if she could help it. “What about you?”

Catching sight of some movement, her eyes reflexively went to the small space created from leaving the door ajar. Feeling another blush rising up to her cheeks, she took a big step to the side so she couldn’t see inside the room anymore. ‘I didn’t see anything..! Er, I might have. A bit. But I moved away really quickly and it’s not like it’s my first time seeing a guy’s bare back and…!!’ She stopped thinking. She was obviously making herself even more embarrassed. “U-Um,” Trying to distract herself Kathy stammered out, “B-By the way, I didn’t really get a chance to ask… Do you prefer being called by your nickname instead of ‘Caleb’?”
– Leroy

Wrinkling his nose slightly at the mess on the floor, Leroy took a step back to make sure he didn’t step in it. He turned to one that punched Seven and opened his mouth to say something when realized that he recognized the guy. “Oh, wait! I’ve seen you before.” He had been so distracted by Seven and the green tux that he hadn’t gotten a good look at his face until then. “Back at the Student Center, remember? Did you manage to find out about what happened to that girl?”

Turning back to Seven he told him, “I’ll get you a glass of water.” Moving back to the table, he lifted his tray up. About a third of his chicken was left and his cake was completely untouched, but he had lost all his appetite now. Thinking of throwing the food away on his way to get water, he looked at the purple-haired guy still at the table and asked, “Hey, how’d you do that? Wasn’t your tux green just a moment ago?”
@HylianRose: Welcome back! And wow, you're fast.

Monrin gyhus!

Mornin'. :)
Well on one hand I do wish there was a sequel, but on the other I know that the 2nd+ games for these plot-driven ones tend to go downhill after the 1st. There are always a few exceptions, but maybe it's good they just stopped it while they could. :)

Nodding in agreement with Seven, he greeted the 2 newcomers with a smile and gestured towards the empty seats around them. “Go ahead, plenty of room around.” Looking at the guy in the neon green tux, Leroy’s smile grew a bit bigger. Without a hint of sarcasm in his voice, he complimented, “Nice tux. Don’t think I’ve ever seen one quite like it.”

A moment later, something else caught his attention. Turning back to Seven, he realized that the bakeneko had changed into his cat-like form and was squirming on the floor in pain. “Sh-t.” Raising a brow, Leroy got up from his seat and walked over to Seven. Looking at the empty tray on the table he scratched his head and said, “Guess you really are more cat than human. That’s unfortunate. Sorry for telling you about chocolate Seven.” There was something clearly odd about Leroy. Although the painter was no longer smiling, he seemed far too calm for someone watching his friend writhing in pain. He didn’t want Seven to die or anything but… The natural sympathy and concern most people would have felt was just not there.

Turning to the two guys that had joined them at the table he pointed at Seven on the ground and asked, “Hey, is there a doctor around here? Or rather, maybe a vet? I think he needs one within the next few hours or he might get liver damage.” A way to help came to mind, but he wasn’t sure how to implement it. Thinking aloud he murmured, “How do you get a cat to vomit anyway? Do I just press down on his stomach or something?”

Kathy could tell that Crash wasn't really getting much help from her getting up, it was far too effortless to help him up despite the fact he was a lot taller than her. ‘I don’t seem that weak, do I?’ She wondered with a slight frown. Then noticing that Crash still hadn't let go of her yet, the momentary frown disappeared completely as the blush on her face returned and deepened. ‘S-Should I say something?’ Her thoughts beginning to spin, she ended up just remaining silent and staring at their hands. When Crash let go and thanked her she mumbled, “You're... Welcome…” Closing her now-empty hand into a loose fist, she tried not to think about the slight warmth lingering on her fingers.

“Oh, wait. I’ll be right back as well.” Seeming to remember something, she followed Crash to the door in time to see him hit himself on the forehead. Looking away, she tried to pretend that she didn’t see it. ‘Oops. I seem to have impeccable timing to make him even more embarrassed.’ Following him out into the hallway, she cleared her throat and told Crash, “Um, hey. I remembered that you told Oona about a cream that’s good for burns? Do you mind grabbing it while you’re there?” In a slightly quieter voice she continued, “And… Um, since I’m already out here, can I wait for you by your door?” Inwardly, she cringed a little, wondering why she felt the need to ask for permission instead of just offering to wait. ‘That wasn’t too strange though, right? Why am I acting so odd around him at times..?’ A small part of her probably knew the answer, but she was too busy pushing that part of her to the very back of her mind to even try to listen to it.
