– Vee

“Jazz?” Vee repeated. Now that was a familiar name. Her ears perked up with recognition, feeling even friendlier than before now that she knew Altaire was acquainted with someone she was rather fond of. “Really? It’s no fun to just watch people play around though right? Try asking to join sometime. Beast, the old softy, wouldn’t bite. In fact, you should try jumping on his back or stomach if you get the chance to.” She grinned, already thinking about actually egging on more young pups to ‘attack’ Beast.

Her eyes opened wide with surprise as Altaire suddenly shifted into another Eevee, or rather… An exact copy of her. It was easy to tell because he had also replicated the scar she had on the base of her ear. “Are you a ditto?” She asked, recalling the image of a pink squishy pokemon known for transforming into various forms. It was the first one that came to her mind when she thought about a pokemon that could mimic the form of others. And though she had blurted the question out as the first thing that came to mind, there was actually something she was a lot more curious to know. “Wait… Are you a male or female?”

Vee had ‘known’ that Altaire was a male while he was in the form of a young Poochyena, but now that she knew he could change to copy others she realized that she probably couldn’t assume anything about him. ‘His’ gender or age, for example. Tilting her head to the side, she let out a small thoughtful hum as she tried to guess anyway. But unfortunately she realized that Altaire’s first appearance had made her completely biased as to what she thought about him. Her ‘best’ guesses right now was that he was a male, and really young… Basically she was basing her guesses on his form as a Poochyena pup.

While waiting for a reply, she glanced back over at Rin and gave him an appreciative smile. “Looks like your nose was spot-on.” She told him, recognizing the fact that he had been able to detect the fact Altaire was not actually a Poochyena.

Well I am okay with anyone but maybe Leroy.

Is that: "Well I am okay with anyone, BUT (=except) Leroy?" XD
Or: "Well, I am okay with anyone but maybe Leroy (would be good)? XD
Awesome! Who should I send over to her? :P
Will be back tonight to post! ^^ Who's free and up for some interaction with Leroy/Ara?
– Kathy

Watching the two boys kiss, Kathy had a look of sympathy on her face but was thinking once more, ‘Thank goodness that wasn’t me.’ She snuck another glance over in Crash’s direction. ‘Or him.’ It was a little odd to see how silent Darwin seemed after the kiss, collapsing back into his chair. She associated Darwin with rainbows, skittles, and a bounce of seemingly-unstoppable energy. Watching him in… Shock? Was quite unexpected. Though perhaps it was to be expected after such a dare. She knew she would have probably been curled up on the floor unable to move without even having actually executed the dare, let alone actually going through with it. Then hearing Crash comment on the latest dare she told him with a small laugh, “The ‘King’ did specify it. Remember? He said on the lips and for at least one minute.” She knew she wasn’t quoting word for word, but thought that would probably be enough to jog his memory if he hadn’t been distracted at the time. She breathed out another sigh of relief when Maria called an end to the game. It was good to know that there wouldn’t be any more embarrassing or awkward moments in front of a crowd anymore.

Though Kathy hadn’t been sure how to really interact with the ‘older’ version of Alex, she gladly warmed up to him again when he became pixie-size once more. A smile appeared on her face as she felt as though the blue-haired boy might’ve forgiven her for abandoning him earlier. She still intended to do something to make up for it, however, she felt happy to know that he was really giving her the chance to do something about it. Gently leaning her cheek into his adorable hug she replied, “Let’s see…” She hadn’t really thought about where to go after the game, not having even expected to participate in one in the first place. Bringing her hand up to Alex, she gave him an affectionate brush on his cheek with her fingertips as she tried to think of some suggestions.

Before she could think of any, Crash also joined in on the conversation. “Of course you can come.” Her smile grew as she looked back at him. ‘And I’d never get tired of being around you.’ She thought, keeping that thought to herself. What she didn’t have control over, however, was the faint blush making its way back to her cheeks. “Why don’t we go up there?” She asked, directing he question about both of the boys as she pointed up towards one of the taller areas of the island visible from the resort. It was something a bit too small to really call it a mountain, but too big to be refer to it as a simple hill. “Since we’re away from all the cities, I bet we’ll have a really great view of the stars.”

Turning to look at Carmen and Lily, she was thinking of extending the invitation to them as well when she noticed that they seemed to be occupied with their own conversation. And… ‘Is that Carmen?!’ The gaseous bird seemed to be Carmen from the fact the ‘bird’ was standing close to where the musician had been sitting with Lily still beside her, but she had taken on a form that Kathy had never seen before. Matt was also engaging in conversation with the two girls, and she decided not to interrupt them. ‘I’ll ask her about that form later.’ She decided, making a mental note to ask Carmen about it when she saw her again.

Getting up, she returned her attention back to Crash and Alex. “What do you both think? I don’t mind if either of you want to do something else.” She added, not quite sure how they would feel about a potential night-time hike. Alex could just stay on her shoulder but… Would Crash mind? She couldn’t be certain. Slowly getting up from her seat so as to make it easy for Alex to stay close by, she glanced between him and Crash as she waited to hear back from them.

Now Carmen had been quite calm with the order she gave out, but the other student (Ryuu) that she recognized from the Beach Olympics had a much more dramatic reaction to give. Her eyes widened in surprise as the guy rolled around the floor with his face covered in his hands. “Y-You alright…?” Kathy asked, quite alarmed by the amount of blood she saw staining the guy’s (Ryuu) glove. She couldn’t entirely be sure if he even heard her though, since he seemed quite out of it and dazed.

After giving her paper slip back and taking a new one, she sat back down and looked at Crash, smiling at his encouragement. “Thank you. That was the idea though,” She also glanced over at Ryuu for a moment before continuing, “Apparently what’s ‘harmless’ differs greatly between individuals.”

Then watching an orange-haired girl act as King after her, she thought, ‘A hug is pretty harmless as well.’ Though if she ever had to hug Crash then she would feel incredibly embarrassed again. ‘And happy.’ A little voice inside of her head chimed in. The only thing that kept Code Red from activating once more was the imagination of squashing that tiny voice in her head under her foot, and her own determination not to draw more attention to herself for the rest of the King’s Game. And, predictably, nothing too exciting really happened when the two boys called out hugged. She vaguely recognized Matt from back in the academy and at the bar, but didn’t recognize the other orange-haired boy (Leroy) that was hugged by Matt.

As another round began, Kathy let out a small sigh of relief when she saw that she was not the King again. And she was even more relieved to find that she was not one of the numbers called out by the colourful boy. Her eyes opened wide with surprise, glancing in Maria’s direction to see if this was not one of the dares closer to the dangerous boundaries of what was acceptable. And… Apparently, this was still innocent enough. She looked over at the semi-familiar face (Ryuu) with a look of sympathy. He was really getting all the wrong types of attention from this game.

Then she heard a sound as someone laid their head on the table. “?” Looking there, she saw Lily with her head down. Kathy could see the faintest cheek of red colour despite the girl’s efforts to keep it hidden away completely and wondered, ‘Oh dear… Is that how I look when I’m overly embarrassed?’ She briefly glanced over at Crash, wondering if she really wanted to know the answer to that question or not. Deciding that she didn’t want to know the answer to it at all, she focused her attention back to the girl hiding her face on the table. However, even as she tried to think of a way to comfort Lily, the problem was the fact she had no idea what exactly made Lily so embarrassed in the first place. Bending down for a moment she whispered to Lily, “Um… If it’s any help, even the most embarrassing moments pass on eventually.”

Hearing Rin make an obedient apology, Vee licked his cheek and gave him an affectionate nuzzle on the cheek. “Good boy.” It seemed that the Poochyena was still not too happy about the entire situation, but she didn’t really care about such things. At least he was actually making an effort to help make things better. Then she whispered into his ear, “It’s not that I don’t trust you, okay? Your nose is a lot better than mine and that’s a fact. But I just don’t think this one is dangerous.” She then gave him a small playful nudge before turning her attention to the other Poochyena(?).

“Altaire, I see. Nice to meet you.” Vee’s tail flickered back and forth rather quickly, hinting that she was holding back quite a bit of her excited energy. Now her normal greeting for new pokemon would’ve been to immediately approach them right up to their face, familiarize herself with their scent, and pace around them to get a good look at them but… Obviously, that would not be ideal in their current situation. And she couldn’t exactly be setting off a bad example after giving Rin a small lecture about what he did just a few moments ago.

The name seemed vaguely familiar, however, she could not really recall where she had heard it or from whom. It hadn’t been a long time since she had joined everyone at the village, and she honestly couldn’t have cared less about learning the names of people she had never even seen before. Or rather, she already had enough trouble in the beginning stages in learning all the names of the many pokemon throughout the village when she saw them quite regularly. Learning the names of those she hadn’t even met yet was a lot more difficult when added on top of that.

As Altaire began to approach her, she finally realized that she had never really introduced herself. “I’m Vee by the way. Right now I’m helping Rin have an adventure behind Beast’s back.” She chuckled. Unsure of whether or not they had met before she continued, “Beast would be a guardian of sorts for the younger pokemon around here. Have you met him? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you around the village though.”

To be honest, both options would be fine with me but having our own bundle of threads and whatnot sounds really useful. ^^
