Buddhism isn't quite as peaceful as you think. Yes it's in the teaching that you shouldn't take lives, but that doesn't mean all Buddhists actually listen to that rule. There have been plenty of militant Buddhists in the past.
I'm actually in favour of making it later than 2042; post-apocalyptic settings seem like they'd be more interesting if they're not quite so soon after the End. And dangit Iso, you'd probably be closer to Asia than to me. I'm gonna set up along the northern coast of Massachusetts. But oh well. :D
@TerminalThere are few things in your nation that contradict the Buddhist region. Not trying to science/history nazi, but it can be viewed as offensive by some people to inaccurately interpret their religion. (I usually exclude Christianity, being they dish out to most contradictions and stereotypes). Granted yours are not I'll-sounding, just ignorant, but in any case I would appreciate if you just Wikipedia'd it or maybe looked on a few sites.
You should probably actually tell them what you think are contradictions, rather than just saying that they're there. Plus this is after the apocalypse; it's not out of the realm of possibility for the near-end of the world to have an effect on a religion.
So, is anyone else planning on being in the US? Or even the Americas.
I'd kind of prefer just a blank map, to be honest.
How exactly are we going to handle crossing oceans and the like? Even if the technology for doing so exists, it's going to rather rare I'd imagine. So nations on different continents would, for all intents and purposes, be completely isolated from each other.
I'd be interested in joining. Though I think that maybe you should change the Reaper a little bit; having it kill in a single day is kind of counter-productive if it's already extremely lethal. The longer someone's around, the more people they can spread it to. In my opinion, if the Reaper is the worst possible bioweapon I'd have it have a period between contraction and symptoms appearing where it's still possible for it to spread, and then once symptoms appear you die really quickly. But I think I'll have a nation that worships some facet of the Old World in some way. Not sure if they'll just worship technology; I've been playing the After the End mod for CK II, so I'm tempted to have the stories of America's founding have been twisted to the point that my nation worships the Founding Father as deities, with former government buildings serving as their temples. But perhaps we should make the story take place a little bit longer than just 25 years after the end.
So I finally got my history up and finished. Which means my sheet is done. So Jedd, am I cool to post now?
I'm still here too.

I don't mind -- I actually like -- sharing a history with someone. I just need to know the specifics of how my nation went to war with you and lost. > > As you can see, I haven't even written my nation sheet out. It could be very slow. If you're willing to deal with my slowness, then let's greenlight the shared history. > > Nice meeting you, again! > > How are you? It's nice to see you again as well, and I've been pretty good. Anyway, as for the war we can work out the reasons for it starting later. Perhaps once you get a more concrete idea of your nation. But I imagined it sort of going well for you at first, pretty much just attacking the settlements that aren't part of the four big republics. And then eventually, emboldened by your victories you start attacking one of the larger ones which finally sets of warning bells with the rest of the Republics and they band together. And then the war starts turning against you now that you're fighting a unified front. Sound good? Any ideas to add or anything?
