You know what really reveals our society? Nobody has a nation in Africa or is planning to make one. One wonders, but then he/she knows why. Just saying :-)

It could just be that one doesn't really learn much about Africa, and it's probably easier to RP a nation at least similar to the one you live in currently.

Keep debating it makes this more realistic when it all starts. I also recommend reading up on radiation and weapons, mainly radiation.

Well to be fair if radiation works exactly like in the real world, we probably wouldn't actually have 'mutants' running around willy-nilly. Unless the mutants come from something else; which is entirely possible.

It's not the North Shore of Boston; it's the North Shore of Massachusetts. Once I get around to adding more to the sheet, I'll probably mention that Boston proper is overrun with mutants and cannibals and their ilk. Anyway, I just added a label (it's green, so it's more noticeable).

@TheSovereignGrave I apologize, I did not see your nation sheet. Took me awhile to find on map lol. I would recommend just using a dot like Marshall. (The highlighted area is almost exactly all within Boston)

But a dot wouldn't do it justice. It is slightly bigger than just one city. Though perhaps I should label it on the map, and have an arrow pointing to it. You wouldn't really know where to look unless you automatically knew where the North Shore was, or you looked at the rest of my sheet before the map (which nobody does, I'd imagine). It's actually North of Boston. Boston is sort of the middle of that bay there.

Well, realistically any significant mutation would take a long time to become prominent. And i still see the issue that in Western Nations very little scientific knowledge would be gone.

Ryderia

Nation Name: Ryderia Culture/Beliefs: The Ryders are a large group of nomads that inhabit a portion of the southwestern Great Plains, which has become known as Ryderia after the name of its inhabitants. The Ryders are completely nomadic in nature, not having even a single permanent settlement; they instead travel with their herds of horses and migrate across the length of their territory, preferring the northern regions in the summer and the south during the winter. There are also certain times of the year when numerous Ryder bands will gather together, and these occasions are a time for celebration among the Ryders. Their horses are the lifeblood of the Ryders, acting as both lifestock and beasts of burden. Every Ryder is taught from a young age how to ride, and as a rule of thumb the only Ryders who do not ride are those who are physically incapable of doing so. In addition while the Ryders may not be exceptionally hostile they are fiercely territorial and will respond violently to any attempts to settle what they view as their lands. And they have also been known to ride out on raids on smaller neighbouring settlements, though this is not particularly common. In fact, Ryders are more likely to trade with neighbours than kill them; their horses may provide them with transport, meat, leather, and milk but there is plenty that they cannot get themselves. And they are more than happy to trade anything excess they may have, or anything they salvage from the Dead Cities within their territory. Place on map: Old World Connection: The Ryders have no actual connection to the Old World, but they did adopt what they thought of as some aspects of Native American culture. They refer to their warriors as Braves, use feathers in their hair to denote accomplishments, refer to their leaders as Chiefs, etc. But it should be noted that very few Ryders actually have any Native American ancestry. Populations: ~32,000 Government type: The Ryders live in nomadic bands of up to about 150 individuals, and each band is a direct democracy. Though they elect a Chief to deal with day-to-day ruling, all adults in the band will gather and vote on important issues. Justice is dispensed in a similar way; the one charging someone with a crime and the one being charged present their cases to all the adults of the tribe, who then decide on a verdict. However, when it comes to matters that involve numerous bands or even the entirety of Ryderia such a manner of decision-making is not feasible. So the Chiefs will gather when the bands meet and discuss the issue before making a decision. Spoken language: English Economic System: The Ryders do not have any form of money, and instead trade and barter among themselves and outsiders for what they require. Food/Water Sources: The main source of food for the Ryders are their horses; they consume their meat and milk for sustenance. However, they cannot survive alone on horse and often trade for fruits and vegetables. The horses themselves survive on the grasses of Ryderia, though the grasses are shorter and more stunted than they were during the time of the Old World. As for water, they collect water from the rains that come as well as from the rivers that criss-cross Ryderia. Though the rivers are the more dangerous prospect due to both radiation in the water and the mutant monsters that dwell within the murky waters. Pros: Cons: Mutants/Major hazards in Area: Backstory:

But the monks aren't creating an army. The Jade Palace isn't made of monks. I am reading your sheet right, aren't I Terminal? EDIT: Hmmm... The map isn't really working for me, so I think I may need to use a different one. My nation's going to be rather small, and can't find the specific area on the one we're using.

Only 10 Chinese vs 70 Tibetans died, and that mostly because of fires started by the Chinese. Read article, then post.

...The article says that there was a mob of 200 Tibetans. And they were throwing bombs and setting fires. Regardless of the fact that only 10 Chinese died, there were still Buddhists rioting. It doesn't seem like they were monks, but it doesn't seem like the monks in Terminal's nation really do anything violent either. They mostly just govern it looks like; with some monasteries housing Jade Palace troops.

@TheSovereignGraveNot really..and these are monks. Being that the entire nation is Theravada Buddhist (the conservative branch, I know this because that is what all Tibetan monks are); they follow the rules pretty strictly.

I don't think the actual ruling group is made of monks, if I recall correctly. And violence by Tibetan Buddhist isn't unheard of either. And as for vegetarianism, Theravada makes a distinction between directly killing an animal and eating already dead meat. EDIT: And Tibetan Buddhists aren't even Therevada Buddhists. They're Vajrayana (which also doesn't mandate vegetarianism).
