Metal helmets stop mind alteration? Since when?

Kami slaughtered every single SOLDIER in Katya's base, after which she tried to ambush him by hiding in the dark. He was fully aware of her, wearing completely bulletproof armor, and armed with a melee weapon whilst in close quarters. The only reason she got out of that situation alive is because Kami decided to allow her to live, an unusual decision on his part.

Regardless, the Purge have government backing, which allows them to outdo Freelance in terms of resources. Even if Freelance has more advanced technology, the Purge will have access to more manpower and weapons.
<Snipped quote by Kurai Assassin>

Well the idea was that Adam had planned to tell the lie that Purge's leader is in fact a vampire, using humans. Having this outbreak, Purge would look like greater heroes, earning support. Then they plan to use the people against Freelance.

I love how your evil manipulative lie is pretty much 100% accurate ^^

The Purge leader is a vampire, they're abusing their heroic reputation, and they're planning on wiping out Freelance.
The media attention was staggering. Within what had previously been the bunker's mess hall, a podium had been raised. It was flanked on each side by five Purge warriors. Tall figures armoured in plate mail, each bearing the burning ankh that symbolized the Purge. They held in their hands the trademark longswords used by the Purge, pointed straight down at the ground. No further security could be seen, although several warriors guarded each entrance to the bunker. It would be nigh impossible for a vampire to infiltrate the conference, as infrared scanners were used to measure the body heat of those who entered.

After about ten minutes, a figure stepped up onto the podium. Completely hidden under a white cloak and headdress, the figure was without a doubt the legendary Pope of Flames. Dozens of ribbons flowed down from his sleeves and headdress, dragging along the ground. A burning ankh hung around his neck, carved from dark wood. A series of beads woven into his clothing clicked together as he walked, the faint clacking causing a strange silence to fall over the room. There were no visible eye slits, indicating that the Pope of blind. However, he seemed to move with grace and ease nonetheless.

Coming to a standstill atop the podium, the Pope addressed the gathered reporters. His voice was deep and strong, clearly male. It had the a kind of reverence, each word sounding like it was taken from some holy text. "You have gathered here today to hear my words, and as such, I shall give you them. The Purge has often been at odds with the government, our goals clashing with the laws of this country. But as the vampire threat has grown, and SOLDIER has fallen, such opinions have been discarded." He holds out his arms, as if attempting to embrace the crowd standing before him. "We have survived a time of great tribulation, a period of darkness that will forever be remembered in history. The day when the night threatened to overtake the day, and mankind stood on the brink of extinction. And then the day when we rallied together, setting aside petty differences to overcome the evil among us. Many good men and women were lost...." He pauses for a moment, as if in respect. "But upon their sacrifices are built the futures of their children."

"However!" He raises his voice, before continuing in his solemn, hushed manner. "The darkness is not yet at end. We won the war, and we have pushed back the night. And yet, the sun threatens to set once more. Vampires still walk among us, feeding on humans, herding them like cattle. Those who survived through stealth or cunning, and once more rebuild their foul breed. They are weak, but they are not harmless." He looks around the room, and even without eye slits, all those present would feel his gaze upon them. "These creatures nip at our heels, as their forces amass once more. How long is it before they step out of their forests and caves once more, when once more they rally under one banner? Can we truly stand atop the corpses of our brethren, and allow their sacrifice to be in vain?"

Under his headgear, the Pope smiled. The crowd was enraptured, listening to every word. Many had lost loved ones in the Night Wars, as entire cities had been slaughtered. He knew he could play on their hate. "We have spoken to your government, and as we did before, we will rally as one. We have gathered our warriors, and we have gathered our allies. As SOLDIER falls, the Purge will rise to the challenge, and take it's place to safeguard you from these creatures. More than that, we will end their threat, permanently. These creatures may no longer live among us! We will Purge them from our ranks. In one week's time, we embark on a vampire Genocide."

A silence followed this statement, as the meaning of the words sank in. "I will now be accepting questions."

A torrent of questions immediately flared up, the reporter's instincts latently kicking in. The Pope would calmly answer them, even as he was displayed across the country. Even as government money flooded into his account. Even as hundreds joined his cause, as he used the leftover rage to increase his own power. Soon, the genocide would begin.
@Wraithblade6
yay

@Kurai Assassin
Yeah, that seems rather unlikely. Oh well, he'll learn eventually.
Because random?
@Kurai Assassin
Of course they don't know about their base. However, they are aware that an organization has targeted their members. They don't know it's name, but it's a bit hard to miss when people are attacked.

Regardless, if you want, I can edit.
It went everywhere. The news was big. The story hit big on every newspaper, every channel reported on it. The legendary leader of the Purge, the Pope of Flames, would be holding his first ever press conference. A public meeting, where he would explain to the world just who the Purge were, and what their goals were.

The Purge were well known by now, although opinions on them were divided. Some saw them as heroes, unstoppable vampire slayers who had saved the country, and perhaps even the world, from vampire domination. And some saw them as terrorists, mindless zealots who spread nothing but chaos and terror. They were uncontrolled, unstoppable, and unknown. They had held large recruiting campaigns shortly after allying with SOLDIER and thereby the government, and had played a large part in defeating Magnus Shane and his vampire army. Their numbers had swelled, but they had disappeared when the main vampire host was defeated.

This meant two things, of course. First, the Pope would be out in public. This meant that this would be the perfect opportunity to strike him down. Those who wished to take down the Purge would find the snake's head clearly visible, stuck out of the grass. However, it was equally clear that the Purge were aware of Project Freelance. How could they not be?

Trap or not, the date of the press conference soon arrived. It was to be hosted at a large abandoned military base, out of the way of any centres of civilisation. Hundreds of reporters had gathered, eager to gather the first scoop on the story. And undoubtedly, others had gathered as well, those with far more sinister intentions.

Bio/History/Backstory:
He emerged one day, from nowhere. He lead an organization that, like him, appeared from nowhere. A large portion of SOLDIER spontaneously broke off from the rest, combining with a civilian force to become the Purge. A vampire hunting force with massive funding and resources, that formed practically overnight. He became their champion and figurehead, a human who could fight Oldbloods. He was renowned as the greatest warrior on the planet, until the true source of his power was revealed. Only those at the top of SOLDIER had access to the tapes that reveal Kami's true identity as a vampire, and the knowledge is severely limited. Kami's origin, true name, and motives remain shrouded in shadow.

Faction/Side/Alignment/Goals: Purge

Personality: Stone cold and calculating, Kami is an emotionless killer. He displays little to no interest, aside from his steely determination to see the world rid from vampires. He is emotionally disjointed at least, and probably insane. His robotic voice never slips out of monotone, and he never strays from the most efficient course of action.

Powers: Kami no Kage has the speed and strength to match lesser Oldbloods. However, his suit seems to be designed to weaken him, rather than increase his strength. Without it he is most likely among the most physically impressive Oldbloods. Furthermore he is a prodigy fighter, displaying inhuman computing power. He can predict attacks before they happen, calculate the paths of projectiles, and read his opponent's moves with ease. This allows him to perform feats such as dodging bullets. Even without his speed and strength he was able to match up to powerful vampire warriors. He has no blood whatsoever.

Weapons:
[Blades of the Moon]
Each sword is created from artificially created pentagonal diamond. Forged in a process similar to low-grade fusion, this carbon isotope is 1.6x as strong as diamond. This material was then enhanced through the application of Nanotube Technology. By installing tiny tubes throughout the structure, the blade is capable of dividing the force of an impact across the blade. It retains it's hardness without becoming brittle, making it night indestructible. It can resist temperatures near 1000C, and does not conduct electricity. This hardness also allows the edge to be only a couple of nanometers thick, making it easily sharp enough to cut through steel and diamond. It is the most effective blade ever designed by science, and Kami no Kage wields two of them.

[XL-42 Reaper Cannon]
Originally designed as a tank cannon, this thing would feel right at home mounted atop an M-1 Abrams. It's a high-powered railgun powered by a large battery. Using two rails, it accelerates a metal canister to incredible high speeds. This spinning canister moves at almost Mach 3, and is filled with highly explosive materials. Upon impact, it explodes, firing tungsten shards everywhere around it. Each shot uses up a battery cartridge, and requires a manual reload both of the cannon and the battery that powers it. Furthermore, the recoil would rip the arms off of a normal human. However, it's firepower is unparralelled, and can take down a tank in one shot. It's also equipped with a high-powered scope.

[Heads-up Display]
Kami's suit is equipped with an advanced AI and visor. This includes remote targetting systems, a variety of vision modes, a communications database, and a variety of other functions. He can easily map out entire areas, and use his own capabilities to process all environmental factors at once. This allows him to swiftly get to learn the terrain, as well as making it nigh impossible to catch him off guard.

[Other shit]
Kami carries a variety of gadgets, depending on the mission. This can range from smoke bombs to high-tech motorcycles, to additional ranged or melee weaponry. The above is a summary of his standard combat equipment, but they're far from his limit. He will often take specialized gear with him on missions where he knows his target, allowing him to make use of any weaknesses.

Skills: Incredible swordsman, inhuman computing capability, athlete, tactician, assassin, martial artist, sniper, experience with a variety of weapons and vehicles.
