Posted for the Purge. Sorry for my extended absence, I will attempt to post more often. The start of school, among other things, distracted me from posting, and I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused through my absence.
The crusaders were ill prepared for the sudden attack against their fuel depot. This location was used to store the fluids they used for their trademark flame throwers, and while every Purge location was guarded they had not expected the sudden strike. An infrared scanner showed the incoming hostiles, allowing the Purge to set themselves up behind cover. They had dumped their baptizers, and a couple of them had anti-tank rifles, designed to take down enemy armour. They were rare among the Purge, as vampires almost exclusively relied on their regeneration an nigh-immortality to protect them from harm. The rest was using impalers, pump action weapons that fired large metal-reinforced stakes at high speed, with enough force to pierce most armour. However, it was clear from the start that Freelance's humanity would be their foremost advantage.

As Blood managed to reach the snipers, who had set up behind a large window in the Purge building, they proved surprisingly hard to kill. Their armour had been designed to deflect blades, a titanium suit shaped to guide the main force of the blade away from them, and it was only on the second strike that Blood was able to pierce the armour. Even more infuriating was the fact that no matter what Blood did, they simply refused to give up. He tore the Crusader that had wounded him in half, and the top half reached for a rifle. It was only Blood's reflexes that saved him from taking an armour-piercing round to the face, as the sneak attack from the supposedly dead man nearly blew his face off. The other two simply stood back up, mortal wounds not even fazing them as they drew their swords. Their blood flowed from them like a river, but until their brain broke down they would fight. This was the true strength of the Purge, and the true reason for their fearsome reputation. For even a vampire fears an opponent that refuses to die.

Meanwhile, the other Freelance agents would find themselves facing covering fire from the Impalers. Heavy bolts slammed into the Pelican, and on occasion on slid past the armour of an agent. But the power armour was well designed, and these things had never been designed to fight armoured targets. By comparison, bullets were excellent at piercing the plate mail the Crusaders preferred, several dropping to the ground as expertly placed shots blew their faces off. But after only a few wounds they changed their tactics, rushing towards their enemy with no consideration for their own well being. Met with a hail of bullets, they simply charged bullets. Men with holes in their chest simply didn't care, only a few dropping from head wounds. They screamed as they charged, swords drawn, drenched in their own blood. Their words were lost, but the image of the undying charge would be forever branded into the memories of those present, as they desperately unloaded entire clips into the mass of metal and blades.

Outgunned and outmanned, the Purge were destined to lose this fight. But they were determined to take as many Freelancers as possible with them before the outpost fell.

Yes! I knew there was a reason I kept that in my sig ^^

All right, thanks for the information. So the tech level and ships will be based on Battlestar Galactica? Awesome. Love that show.

The exact distance is far from necessary, I'll just assume they're relatively close star systems. I was thinking of the more advanced physics that come into play over massive distances, such as relativity. Time will actually alter the closer you get to the center of the universe, and stuff like that.

Thanks for the information, I'll work up a CS ASAP.

Oh and KOD was Kingdom of Daine. It was me brainfarting and not realizing that it was UKD.
@BlackRose24
Oh, I do have some questions.

What tech level is the weaponry, what kinds of weapons and gear are the norm? Laser, plasma, mass accelerator? What are the kinds of ships that are deployed by both sides of the conflict, and what kinds of armaments do they possess?

What are the cultural and moral stances of both sides on the subject of artificial intelligence? What are the laws regarding the rights/lack of rights of artifical beings.

What are the distances between the planets. Is this all ocurring within neighbouring solar systems, about 10 lightyears apart? Or is this a galaxy-spanning conflict?

Speaking of which, how is the mobility technology? Presumably there is some form of FTL travel, but what kind and how efficient is it?

Lastly, is project rebirth accessible for non-government corporations? Are those still a thing in the KOD?

The problem is less Blood being fine, as much as it is the people in Blood's immediate vicinity being fine....

Gabriel smiled, as he looked over. "My dear, you would look good in a burlap sack. Such loose criteria could not possibly be used to judge your attire. How could mere clothes fulfil the standard you set?" He chuckles, sitting back and sipping his drink. "You are free to follow me wherever you wish, the company would be greatly appreciated. I must admit, simply wading through the mortals gets drull sometimes, and on occasion even the sweet taste of Orphan Blood gets old. it's been a while, since I've had someone to talk to, on the way."

Gabriel's eyes narrowed, as he sensed a plane landing. On it was an unconscious mind, as well as a void he knew all too well. Not a mind, as he usually perceived them, but rather an empty space where he knew a mind belonged. An infuriating lack of presence, like an awkward pose at the end of a sentence. He needed to consciously refrain from trying to break it, he knew all too well the futility of attempting to break through Mithias' impregnable mental defenses, even with his powers. The child had inherited a strength quite opposite to his sire. Although, from what he perceived of Hank's mind, the mind control had merely skipped a generation.

"Speaking of which, my dearest son appears to have landed on the island. Would you like to accompany me, as I go out to meet him? I believe he's planning to introduce me to my grandchild." Smiling, he holds out a hand to help Chantelle up, even as he moves to leave. He's retrieved a long gold cane, one of his favorite pieces of attire. His sense of fashion had lagged behind the times a bit, although nobody was prepared to tell him.
@Remipa Awesome
Plot, mainly. Gabriel won't mindwipe Hank because it wouldn't be fun for you, which is a bad thing. IC, he won't do it because he likes Mithias, and as such is prepared to help him with this issue.

That's not to say Gabriel isn't prepared to screw with Hank's head though. He might rig the memories to explosively return the moment Hank tastes peanut butter, or something like that.

From the shadows stepped a fairly shadowy figure. The legendary vampire slayer Kami no Kage, leader of the Purge. The fellow moved with inhuman grace, and even Ved had almost missed him. There was a moment of silence before Kami spoke, as if he were sizing up the half-human hybrid in front of him. Ved could sense that if he made a wrong move here, he would suddenly find himself facing a very dangerous enemy, perhaps more than he could handle.

[Your job will be a simple one.] Kami was straight to the point, going over the description with no sign of interest or anxiety. He gave the description, name, as well as possible locations for the target. Affiliations were also mentioned, as well as a rather strange condition, although ved didn't complain. [If you succeed in this task, without fail, you will be granted the rewards you seek. Should you be discovered or fail to complete your mission, we will disavow your existence, and you will be killed.] There was no room for rejection, nor was there room to think this over. The options were simple. Success, or death.

[An initial monetary sum has been forwarded to your account. This will cover any costs you will meet in search of your quarry, including the acquisition of any gear you feel is necessary. After this point, we will no longer be in contact until you have completed your task, and you will be unable to request assistance. Should my subordinates discover you, I will not be able to prevent them from killing you, so you fate is your own.]

Gabriel walked past the groups of vampires as they swung weapons, and practised their aim. "In effect, I gave them a mental crash course in combat. Each of these vampires is a grandmaster in a variety of martial arts, both armed and unarmed. Ranging from Ju Jitsu to Krav Magna to ancient Aikido, they're the best of the best. The only downside is that I have to get their muscle memory to catch up to their mental training, but I believe a month of practise allows them to reach their full potential." From what Chantelle would see, the soldiers were as dangerous as Gabriel said. They consistently hit bullseyes with the practise guns, even on rapid fire. Automatically compensating for the recoil, they were able to hit a tiny target with multiple consecutive bullets.

Gabriel sat down in a velvet chair overlooking the training fields, and another such chair was brought for Chantelle. "You'll be commanding this army on the ground, leading them to defeat our enemies. I will meanwhile use my own powers to assist you, taking direct control of as many enemy troops as possible. Seeing as how Freelance lacks the necessary gear to take on a vampire threat, we'll be able to take them down with relative ease." He smiles, receiving two bottles from a butler. One filled with wine, the other filled with blood. "Then, with new recruits and technology, will we be ready to take on the Purge. What do you think?"
Heya, I heard this rp was lacking people, and was thinking of joining. Is this still open, and allowing new participants?
