Then make him a half-demon, or perhaps a mutant. Maybe a spellcursed, who has been cursed by ancient magic with a strange appearance. But anything with ears like that is NOT a human.

Actually, I think Matt is quite a lot safer than anyone in the fort. No vampire would kill him after Dresden had given his approval to letting him live, as it would be akin to an act of direct insubordination.

In case you missed my post on the Enclave, here are some details you might want to know:
It's a wooden palisade, surrounding a small area including a guard tower and a cave entrance. Within the cave is the main area of the Enclave, including the barracks and mess hall and stuff. There are numerous massive Holy Smoke generators both inside and outside the cave, which can be toggled from within the cave, and are the Enclave's greatest defense. The outer walls as well as many of the inner are covered in crucifixes, and the walls are sprinkled in Holy Water daily.
This is an anti-vampire fort. It's about as equipped for tanks as an anti-air turret is equipped for dealing with flesh-eating ants. This is quite probably the first time in history vampires are succesfully using large-scale tactics other than "attack and kill".
