Any location is fine, really. i'd expect the character's home, but perhaps some other locations where he/she is completing a task of some sort.

If the caster did not have enough control over the lightning to cause it to move in a straight arc through air, it would choos the shortest route to the ground and go straight down. The shortest route to the positive charge of the Earth is ALWAYS straight down, the earth simply reduces the resistance towards it's intended destination.

stop arguing about it! i'm getting annoyed and you know it's doodle gody in a way so some stuff won't make sense if you think about it too logically (and think of earth more like dirt)

I'm going to argue about it because I enforce a certain degree of logic when I'm doing things. Like I said. If my character shoots a beam of lightning, and you block with a shield of earth, then the lightning is going to go right through, and probably be all the stronger for it.

Well, me and my friend were walking to the library to print stuff for English, and him and another 1st year were walking in front of us, and the guy was ranting about how Hitler was only trying to cleanse the world, and he did nothing wrong, and it wasn't his fault etc. and his friend was disagreeing, and my friend said something (can't remember what it was....it was something against Hitler) and his friend turns around and goes "thank you!" and the other kid gets really annoying and starts ranting to MY friend about how Hitler was right and stuff and I was really confusedAnd according to some people in my classes, his wallpaper was Hitler, and that makes it sound like he's just doing it for a joke or whatever, but if you actually saw him, you wouldn't think he was joking....this kid's seriousAnd we were standing outside Spanish, and him and some other first years were with him, and the 2nd bell rang (it had been a break) and he starts walking away, and as he's passing me and my friends (it wasn't aimed at us or anything) he turns around and shouts "death to equality!" like really loudly, and we were so confused.....I really don't know what's up with him. I really want to know what primary (school) he went to....

Well, i you study Hitler a bit, you'll find out he actually started out as a good guy. He created jobs for thousands of Germans, and saved Germany from starvation. He was a vegetarian and an animal lover, as well as a genius. However, being forced to order the death of thousands and military pressure steadily drove him insane, as can be seen when he started to kill his own generals out of paranoia, and eventually took his own life.
