All the rest of Team RWBY gasped in horror and Ruby screamed in fear..however once Yang was back they calmed.Yang glared at Bob. "Was that really neccesary?" Even tho he acted nice he annoyed her now. "I did not ask to explode...but ok fine you proved your point.." She deadpanned.
Bob positively beams at the girl's annoyance. "It wasn't necessary, but then nothing in life really is. Isn't that just the beauty of it?" Still smiling like a madman, Bob turns and makes a quick bow to the rest of Team RWBY. "I believe my point has been adequately proven. Feel free to participate now, or later, but you will eventually. There's no other way for you to get home." Bob waves briefly at the assembled group of fighters, and then disappears in a corny-looking effect reminiscent of Star Trek. In fact, you can even hear him say 'beam me up, Scotty.'
As the Wraith passes through you, it turns, hissing. It slashes out with it's claws, which, as before, pass harmlessly through you. However, the Wraith takes a closer look at you, examining your essence, the magic that's keeping you in this world. "A ghost? A member of the undead dares harm it's immortal master?" With a toothy grin, the Wraith reaches out, it's talons now moving along the strings of magic around the Legionnaire. A complex web of arcane power, fueled by the space marine's very own willpower. A spell to bind the life energy, the 'soul' of the target to this world.
When the body dies, the soul dissipates. It returns to the primal mass of energy that forms the essence of life, and from which a new soul is created at birth. Although concepts such as this can vary from dimension to dimension, together with the laws of physics, it's the most common rule, and many dimensions simply use variations of this. The 'Soul' as such can be given many names. However, the important part is that it is the essence of a being, the life energy, one might say, that keeps it moving. Without a Soul, life cannot possibly exist, at least not in this dimension. Using this web of magic, the soul had been made into a solid being, a form that might persist after the body had decayed and been destroyed, a spiritual power.
"Most interesting." All anger forgotten, the Wraith was circling the being that had moments before been the target of it's anger. It discovered it had an odd longing to know more about the world. It was filled with knowledge, inherited from it's father, but it did not understand much of it. After all, it was but a fragmented being. This was a desire that humans knew as 'curiosity', the Wraith discovered. It would not destroy the ghost, no. After it had killed the being it had been created to kill, it would have no purpose, no reason to continue it's existence. However, then it would be able to fully indulge this curiosity, and discover about the world it had been borne into. Who knew how much more it could discover, both about others and about it's own nature?
The bolts of lightning and magical assaults from it's enemy hadn't even bothered it as it had been examining this odd but pleasant interruption. It felt no pain from mortal wounds, and they closed almost as soon as they were created. However, as the Wraith turned, it came to the conclusion that it was glad to return to fighting. Despite the interesting complexity of the outside world, it had been born with a purpose, and it would complete that purpose before it could even think of leaving the path his father had set before him. One could call this devotion a form of love. A twisted, artificial form of love, contrived by the magic of a fickle God for the purpose of providing a brief distraction for one of the fighters in the arena. However, such a love was enough to keep the Wraith in line, and it turned away from the Legionaire, once more charging towards Captain Marvel, aiming a flurry of punches at his chest.
