Allow me to give you a picture of how strong Erza is. She was powerful enough to slice through indestructible airspace, slicing through solid air. Solid air would be harder than multiple layers of armored steel, nearly indestructible. Furthermore, her armor is capable of taking hits powerful enough to shatter cities and stand back up. Then, recently, she got her Essence awoken and became 3x more powerful than before. Like I said, Zerg are crackers.
Gray, I admit, would probably be pretty useless against the Zerg. They seem to be mostly immune to cold. However, he can create massive cannons and blades out of ice with the power to blast houses to pieces, with ease. Furthermore, his speed and strength is incredible, far surpassing human limits. Again, recently got awakened, now 3x more powerful than before.
Gajeel can cut entire islands in half, and his skin is hard enough to take tank shells without a problem. He can crush tanks with his bare hands, and Hydralisk bolts wouldn't even hurt him. His roar of blades tears apart cities with ease. Again, he got his Essence awoken.

Jack glares at Mr Winters, trembling. However, after a moment, he lets go of the shotgun, his hands still trembling, as he walks to a wall. For a moment, he seems like he's going to punch it, but he thinks better of the senseless action, and instead turns to you. "Oh Fucking Hell, I nearly killed the dude." He seems to be shaking all over, unable to find the proper words to express the way he feels. "The thing outside. The thing that killed Elsia. You guys killed it?"
Mr Winters, for his part, was remaining quiet, shivering in his little corner. Jack had quite obviously punched the dude a number of times, and he wasn't looking so good. A distinct odour also told the heroes the old man had peed himself.

Zerg can't use magic. And magic isn't genetic. If zerg were capable of magic, they'd have beaten protoss and marines ages ago.

Actually, the zerg carapace is about as strong as steel, maybe a little more so. Don't forget that a marine can destroy a zerg in 4-6 hits.

Erza can cut through solid air, Airspace, with her katanas when she wishes. Her slices are sometimes said to be even more powerful than Natsu himself. She'd easily get through them.
Gray doesn't need to get through the carapace. His main ability is to freeze things. He'd turn them all too ice. At a certain temperature, biological life simply cannot exist, and he'll freeze them down to that temperature.
Gajeel can cut entire islands in half when he wants to. Like Erza, he can often match Natsu, using his Secret Dragon Slayer Technique.
The zerg are like crackers before these guys. There are multiple scenes where they tear through entire mountains.

Makarov takes ten seconds total to charge up Fairy Law. Ten seconds. Even the greatest Zerg Rush can't beat that.
Natsu's most powerful attack was able to push Gilarts backwards three feet. This dude is unstopable. He'd wipe out the average zerg army with a single strike.

Oh, and I forgot Laxus, who's even more powerful than Natsu is. He can move at lightning speed, and burn through Zerg with ease, frying their little brains out.

I honestly can't remember what Leeroy can do. I just remember him pulling a Drac and reviving himself WAY too often.

The most powerful mage in the FT universe, A Death Mage, capable of manipulating death itself. He can kill anything with his power unless you can resist, which certain powerful magical beings (such as dragons) can.

Gildarts. Destroys anything he touches, capable of wiping out entire islands. Makarov, using Fairy Law, can wipe out anything that isn't an ally. Gajeel, Erza, and Gray will all be preventing you from killing Natsu, which you need to do in order to gain his powers. Furthermore, it's quite likely that the other Guilds would help out Fairy Tail, meaning you might even get to fight more Saint-Mages.
