Outstanding :)
And so begins the game!

Any of you players may be the one currently inspecting the cabin. You will find, as you meet and greet eachother, that it must be Celeste that came before you, and that she is currently away somewhere.

You have the cabin, two barrels of beer, a large chest of foodstuffs and a days worth of firewood at your disposal. Feast to your delight :)
The Heroes
Chapter I : Reunion

The mountains. Known for their many dangers and deadly nature in wintertime, they were the complete opposite in summer. The sun was shining from a clear blue sky on the green pines and grey rocks of the landscape. A quiet breeze caressed the travelers as they made their separate ways along the paths going up towards the small plateau where the cabin was. There was a nice smell in the air, of blossoms and woods, and the birds were singing delightfully from the trees. In the background was the constant but gentle roar of faraway rivers and waterfalls. Today was a good day.

By evening, most of you are close to the cabin. When the first of you arrive you're met by an inviting sight: the pale light of the evening sky is mixed with the warm light of a freshly stoked fire coming from the windows of the little house. Smoke is rising lazily from the chimney, drifting away on the gentle breeze. A horse is tethered outside the cabin, along with an empty cart. As you enter the cabin, you find it recently swept for dust but empty of people. In a corner sits two barrels and a large chest. Upon further inspection you find that they are filled with beer and food. Judging from the scene, one of the other adventurers must have come here before you. Might be he or she is just out on an errand, and will soon be returned.

You footsteps outside, and turn to see who it is...
Name: Celeste of Bodou

Age: 35

Gender: Female

People: Human

Appearance:

Celeste is a woman of normal built. She has fair skin, shoulder length brown hair and brown eyes. Her face is of the honest, likable kind that makes you trust her even before you have spoken with her. Her body is untouched by scars or marks, almost pristine to look at. She is usually dressed in simple, durable clothes and almost always wears an arming jacket. It is uncommon to see her without a sword strapped to her belt. When travelling or preparing for battle she usually wears leather armor reinforced with steel plates.

Traits:
Celeste is skilled with most one-handed weapons, especially with swords. She can hold her own in a fight against several opponents. Her formost strength is however her fearlessness and complete devotion. She will stop at nothing when her mind is set on completing a task. In addition, Celeste has an almost eerie sixth sense. She is good at reading other people, knowing what they will do or say before they do. She has never been ambushed or surprised by an opponent.

Her one fault is her good nature. Celeste wants to see the good inside everybody and can be naive at times. She assumes people are truthful and tries to be merciful whenever she can. It is never the easy way with Celeste. She will always do the "right thing", even when it seems hopeless or even impossible.

As a person, Celeste is terribly likable. She is kind, honest, and genuinely interested in other people. She listens to people and remember the little things that are important to them. Facing a choice, Celeste will always see to the happiness of others before her own. Tempering this is her sense of justice and her belief in the greater good. Celeste is a warrior and is adamant about protecting the weak from the strong.

Background:
As a baby, Celeste was given away to a monastery. Her parents were too poor to take care of her, and the monks and nuns were known to take in such children and give them a good life. Because of this she never knew of family life and was never spoiled or treated badly. The monks and nuns of the monastery instilled in her the sense of justice and righteousness that she still lives by today. As she was a strong and active child, she was chosen to become part of the militant branch of the monastic order. Her training was harsh and punishing, but she endured and emerged as a tough holy warrior.

Having completed her training she spent several years in the service of the order, keeping the peace and dispensing justice in the lands surrounding the monastery. It was around that time that the infamous Necromancer came to power and started terrorizing the world with his dark forces. A band of travelling adventurers came to the monastery one day, looking for respite and aid. Celeste spent some time with them and found their cause to be righteous. She spoke to the heads of her order and was permitted to join the adventurers in their quest.

The struggle against the powerful Necromancer was harsh, and Celeste had to watch as her newfound friends perished one by one to the horrors they faced. It was extremely taxing on her, having to fight against sorrow and doubt as well ass the murderous minions of the vile sorcerer. The final battle was pure madness. The lowest moment for Celeste came when one of her friends was turned against her by dark magic, forcing her to slay him in self defence. The Necromancer was in the end undone by their concerted effort, but the victory didn't come without a sense of loss. It was tragic to Celeste that an individual as resourceful and powerful as the Necromancer would choose to kill and destroy instead of using his incredible strength for the good of others. She could not understand it, and wept also for all the unnecessary violence and death that had been required to right this wrong.

She returned to the monastery and spent the following years in silence and prayer, before answering the call and venturing to the old mountain cabin for the reunion.

Items:
Her sword, forged by the master smith of the monastery.
I'm sorry if there has been any misunderstandings, but I have used the "small group" tag (although, admittedly, it could be easy to miss).
It's time.

The characters I've chosen as protagonists of the game belong to:

@SuperTacticalDerp@ArenaSnow@Zendrelax@Tunks

Congratulations and thank you for your awesome characters :) You can go ahead and post them in the Character Tab.

As for the rest of you: thank you SO MUCH for your interest and contributions! I've had a good time reading everything you've posted here. If you are still interested in the game and want to be kept on board as a reserve, let me know.

I'll begin work on the IC right away.
It's great to see so many applications! I will start going through them presently, but will leave room for more applications until this time tomorrow.
The Heroes

Ten years. It has been ten long years since you last met. You, the heroes. You, who saved the land and everyone in it. You, who fought, bled, laughed and cried together in your struggle against the evil Necromancer. Not all of you, though, no. Some were lost along the way, sacrificing themselves for the greater good. Tonight you will honor their memory, as you promised all those long years ago. You will gather in the old cabin in the mountains, and you will sing and drink and remember. Because, although you were celebrated and rewarded for your great deeds, it seems no one else does. The people have gone on with their lives, as if nothing ever happened. They seem to have forgotten how close you came to failing, how close they came to dying. But not you. You remember. And you have come, just as you promised.

Welcome! In The Heroes we will play as a group of once celebrated adventurers who fought and defeated an evil sorcerer known only as the Necromancer ten years ago. Together we will create their story, and partake in a new adventure as they are tested by fate once more. You will have lots of freedom in creating your character, and even though there will be a quest for you to complete you will have lots of freedom in play as well. I'm looking for players who are interested in simple, oldschool fantasy and traditional questing.

Our story takes place in Domhan, a diverse land of high mountains, low valleys, deep forests, calm lakes, wild rivers and endless plains. There are a lot of different peoples here, living in a lot of different places. It is a magical, mystical land set in another time. Look at the classical fantasy stories and adventures. Domhan is like that.

The rules of this game are simple and are as follows:

  • As GM, I have the last word in any argument
  • The OOC will be free of slander and accusations
  • If you are gone for more than three days without having notified me of your absence, your chracter will die and get replaced by another

Character Application

As there was quite a lot of interest for this game, I have decided to give everyone an equal shot at character creation. Since people are living in different time zones and countries, the principle of first come first serve won't do. I will therefor read through the applied characters and decide which ones I want in my game. Other characters will be kept in reserve, if their players are still interested.

When creating a character, think fantasy and medieval. Those are your keywords. A big part of your creating your character is describing the place it comes from, what the people there are like and how it was growing up there. You will be as much a part in constructing the gameworld as I am. This is not a suggestion, but a requirement.
