Kyo watched Jacob leave with a discrete look over his shoulder before turning back to face the group; before he could say another word, Dark and Aphrodite were departing too.
"Guess everyone's busy with their own lives, huh? That's what I get for dropping off the radar." he said solemnly. "If you guys don't want to go to Balthazar's class, we can always hit downtown or something."
"Damn." said Kyo quietly, watching the dazed and exhausted Ashlynn collapse onto the seat next to him before averting his eyes to Jade. "Thanks for the offer, but I gave up on Balthazar's classes. A little too intense for me. I simply can't handle it."

The smile that stretched his lips was a strange one, sarcastic and yet somehow sincere at the same time. He glanced at Aphrodite and Dark, feeling slightly bemused that Dark had not acknowledged his presence.

"I've been great," he started, remembering Jade's initial question. "I've enjoyed some..."
"Please stop, please!" shrieked the man on the floor, bleeding from multiple gashes and wracked with large, ugly contusions. "That was twenty years ago, I'm a different man now!"

"I can't let you go now. You've seen my face." said Kyo coldly, stomping on the man's ribs as hard as he could.

The man howled in anguish and thrashed helplessly under Kyo's foot, unable to move or to resist in any meaningful capacity.

"Just kill me!" he pleaded.

"You didn't kill her!" barked Kyo furiously, lifting the man up effortlessly by the scruff of his neck and pinning him against the wall. "I haven't even started with you."

"Oh god, oh Jesus, please..." whimpered the man.

"Oh, stop it." spat Kyo, slapping the man across the face. "That never works."

"Lord, my saviour, I will fear no evil for you are w-"

Kyo slammed his palm into the man's face and pushed him against the wall, grabbing the man's arm and stretching it out. Before the man could finish his prayer, an ice dagger materialised in Kyo's hand and he plunged it hard into the top of the man's arm, cackling as he screamed. He ripped the arm out with a brutal telekinetic pull and threw the man to the floor, tossing the severed arm aside.

"Here's a miracle for you," snarled Kyo, wrapping one hand around the man's throat and placing his other palm on the bloody stump. "Thank you, Balthazar!"
The man's screams were unending and awful as he watched the stump being cauterised with white magic.

"I've been working hard, you know, training for this moment. Killing someone for the first time really did a number on me, but as I took down more and more of your friends, I just became used to it. There's no mental suffering, it's just fun!" he said gleefully, raising the dagger high.

"Fuck you! FUCK YOU!" screamed the man as the dagger came plunging down once more.

"Praise Jesus!" he cackled, grinning wide as the crimson, metallic liquid spurted out and gleamed against his teeth.

"Some me time." he finished with a warm smile.
Kyo acknowledged Jade and Cancer with a smile before heading over, glad to see a couple of familiar faces that he had not gazed upon in a long time. He took a seat next to Cancer and glanced at Jacob for a fraction of a second, wondering how much had changed since he'd last spent any significant amount of time with his old group of friends. He had been under the impression that Jacob was not exactly popular, but here he was having breakfast with the loony one and the grumpy one.
"Hey!" he said brightly, grinning at the trio. "Long time, huh?"
Kyo sauntered past the great oak doors of the main hall, feeling oddly relaxed as he flashed a captivating smile at any and all who made eye contact with him. Today was a good day. With a spring in his step, he sidled over to the counter and helped himself to a heaping stack of pancakes, fresh fruit and a fat slab of butter which started melting immediately.
He spun around on his heel and cast a glance around the hall, searching for any familiar faces.
Carolyn shut the door behind them gently and leaned against it as she watched them leave, a small frown appearing on her face. It felt pointless to punish them as their little group was insistent on not learning any form of discipline. Not even the almighty Balthazar could stop them from breaking the rules.
She closed her eyes and searched for Balthazar's essence with her telepathy, eventually locating him in the gym.
"Professor," she projected in an uncertain tone, not sure whether or not Balthazar would appreciate the information or view her as a tattle-tale. "The students you've been training broke into the kitchen to have a midnight snack. Just letting you know in case discipline is a part of the training. If not, my bad, I'll deal with it."
Carolyn edged her way closer to the kitchen, pausing right outside the door as the painful memory of her quarrel with Ivy re-enacted itself in her mind's eye. This was exactly where it had taken place. How long had it been? For all of the contempt she had previously held for Ivy, she now felt only sympathy. As the weeks had stretched by, the chances of her being dead were growing exponentially. Her departure from life would not have been made easy, either, considering the atavistic brutality of those mysterious terrorists.

"You shouldn't be in here." she said quietly, holding the door ajar.

She was a little surprised at how many of them were in the room but was in no mood for making their lives harder. She would not write them up with detentions, but perhaps she would have a word with Balthazar. The man ostensibly valued discipline and breaking Alvarez's rules in this manner was far from disciplined.

"Go back to your dorms, please."

"Don't bite off more than you can chew, Kent, you've already done too much today." advised Raphael, giving his new friend an amiable smile.
"He makes a fair point." agreed Kyo, shrugging at the huddled trio. "We'll make our own way back, see you guys at the academy. Be careful out there, huh?"
And with that, Kyo and Raphael shot off into the distance and towards the Academy where trouble was surely brewing...

-Kyo and Raphael have left Scenario 23-
There was a long silence after Ashlynn's stunning revelation. Kyo looked back over at Jade and opened his mouth to say something but evidently thought better of it. Ivy and Jade's training sessions in the Gardens had been witnessed by many, including him, and he knew that she would be devastated to hear that Ivy's power was part of what caused this. Even worse, the chances of her being alive were growing increasingly slim.

"We need to leave, guys. Now." said Raphael in a concerned tone, worried that the strange, buzzing sensation in his mind was being caused by a massive influx of humans, most likely some form of military.
Raphael got back up to his feet, shakily, and grasped Kent's arm in both of his hands.
"Thanks, Kent." he said, with a grateful smile.
He watched glumly as Jacob's attempt to pacify Jade was met harshly and wondered whether or not it was worth trying to console her. She had displayed abject viciousness and could possibly be a danger to them all. On the other hand, her tears seemed to suggest an innocence behind the steely mask. His mind worked furiously on some magical combination of words that would bring her back to them and it seemed as if Mei was undergoing the same difficulty.

Without waiting to consult the full breadth of his mental faculties, Kyo rushed forward at the sounds of the man's horrific cries of pain and grabbed Ashlynn firmly by the elbow. He forcefully pulled her away from the human and shoved her hard, completely beside himself.
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!" he screamed at her as the group of humans began to retreat.
