I am aware of this: http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/263/posts/ooc?page=1

But I was wanting to do a roleplay similar to Game of Thrones' setup, however I wasn't wanting to use its lore, setting, or anything like that. Unfortunately, I'm finding it hard to come up with something without totally ripping off Game of Thrones or Daeron's Conquest. So I'm open to ideas, tips, advice, and more - whether its good or bad. Understand I am already hosting one RP at the moment, so I'm not sure I'll do this soon.

Premise
This RP will take place in a fictional land known as Omeria. Omeria was ruled by a single King, but this king has recently been murdered by the Assassins of Kings (not their real name, that's what everyone calls them). The same night, the King's only heirs are slaughtered in unison in their own home (Castle Snowshod).

So with the King dead and his immediate heirs killed, Omeria is throne into a tumultuous and tense standoff. Many Lords, Ladies, and other leaders will raise armies, forge alliances, and wage war to claim the throne, but only one can win; where do you stand?

---

So you'll have to be some sort of leader. You could be a Lord who already has an army, a faction leader who owns a smaller force, even a sellsword or exiled prince who is seeking his destiny in this war (who can fight for other lords if he so wishes). Strategy and tactics will count in battle, as well as morale and troop placement. Numbers may play a role in the outcome, but you'll also have to rely heavily on tactics in battle.

Your main goal will be to secure various holdings by taking over castles and cities, while taking villages and towns to resupply and hurt your enemy. And since Castle Snowshod is virtually defenseless and leaderless I expect everyone will try their stakes in it first.

I myself will be playing as Jorn, a sellsword who stumbles across a 12 year old girl and becomes her Sworn Sword for a very important reason. Jorn and Allona will play a major role in the roleplay and change events, and will be affected by the choices you make.

You guys may also need to call truces and temporarily ally to defeat foreign invaders.
Asta Cyszik is accepted.

EDIT: But now that 25 is quite young for an Elf. Wood Elves are immortal.
The Feyhorn are a very old, but mostly mysterious race. Most believe they've always been there, others believe they're the first demons from the first Onslaught who have since devolved into the tribalistic beings they are now. What they really are and where they really come from is up for interpretation.

They live in tribes, each tribe acting as a sort of clan. They live in huts, surrounding a large bonfire, and are more or less identical to Native Americans. The central region is sort of like south-central America, or Mexico. Each of these clans is ruled by a warchief, and then you have a shaman who is very old but very wise. They may fight each other over resources and land and whatnot, but they leave each other alone for the most part.

They're the most primitive of the races on Omeria. They may use wooden and iron weapons, but they don't have the steel-forged weapons and armor like the knights north of them do, nor do they have the wisdom of the elves below them. They use wood, fur, clay, stone, and other such resources to build their small huts.

EDIT: Any Feyhorn character has to be part of the North storyline. In this sense, they're probably a mercenary, soldier, or slave.

The Fall

Story

The general gist of the story is that the Onslaught is about to occur. At certain periods a horde of demons and savages will sail from across the southern ocean and invade Omeria, bringing it to its knees and destroying it in the process. But these tales of destruction have been forgotten by the northerners, who only follow the Bright Path, which does not preach about the Onslaught. The Elves, however, know of this danger as they still practice the Old Ways.

The story will follow two separate paths, but these paths will eventually combine into one later on. You may have one character for each story, so that's a total of two characters for each person. One story will begin and mostly take place in the North, while the other story will begin and take place mostly in the South. Read on for more information:

North: In this storyline you will be playing a Human, a City Elf, or a Feyhorn. Whether you're a slave, part of the delegation, a soldier, or whatever is entirely up to you. But you're at Castlerock, an ancient fortress that usually acts as a middle-ground for the Four Kingdoms. Joric Valgard, a warrior of the Varan, has seen the oncoming Onslaught and has called together a peace council so the human kingdoms can prepare for the inevitable invasion. Unfortunately, things will take a turn for the worse as one of the Four betray the others and throws northern Omeria into a tumultuous uproar. You'll follow Joric and company across the northern regions as you try to unite the four kingdoms, or at least build a resistance to withstand the Onslaught.

South: In the south you will be either a Wood Elf or a Drow. These Elves are the first line of defense against the Onslaught, who will invade from the south, so they need to put aside their differences and try to hold out. Unfortunately, the Elves are to few and it's only a matter of time before they're overrun.
Races and Characters

Human- The humans are the people of northern Omeria. They rule four kingdoms: the Northlands (Northmen), Asgeir (Varan), Arkinham (Omerian), and Storroan (Omerian). They are natural warriors and rangers, but are to short-lived to ever have an affinity to magic. Most are known to be cruel and unforgiving to outsiders, especially the Elves and Feyhorn, but also to their own kind.
City Elves - Wood Elves who move into northern provinces are classified as City Elves. They are usually poor, live in ghettos, and often prime targets for robberies. Regardless of all this, however, some are known to be court mages and some have higher offices than even that, serving as advisers and such. Like their Wood Elf cousins, they are agile warriors, archers, and have some affinity to magic.
Wood Elf - Wood Elves live in southern Omeria, in their forest cities located mostly in the southwest. Wood Elves are agile, make excellent archers, and most have a natural affinity to magic. They are few, but immortal, and are very close to nature. The Wood Elves are perhaps the most peaceful of all races and live in clans scattered in small forest-cities throughout the south southwest.
Drow - The Dark Elves are the dark-skinned relatives of the Wood Elves. They have dark red eyes, ash-gray (sometimes black) skin, and have lost their immortality. Almost every Drow lives in the huge Drow city of Blackhorne, located in wastelands in southeastern Omeria. Blackhorne is made of black stone, and ash and dust fly through the air, clouds overhead never allow the sun to look upon its foundation. Drow are powerful magic users, and are adept with the bow and the blade. The Drow are not allowed anywhere else except the wilderness and Blackhorne.
Feyhorn - The Feyhorn are tall, red-skinned, black-eyed demons of the central plains. They have a natural grasp of fire magics, are known to be aggressive, and live in tribes scattered throughout the central region in Omeria. They are tough, tribal-like, strong individuals, and have a dislike of outsiders. They are not allowed anywhere else.

The Fall

Story
Centuries ago the Old Teachings were the dominant religion in all of Omeria: shared between men and elf alike. It spoke of a terrible occurrence known as the 'Onslaught', when the southern seas would betray Omeria and allow the demons of the south to sail northwards and destroy the land. But no one believes in such matters anymore except the oldest of the elves.

Joric Valgard, a Varan from the kingdom of Asgeir has seen first-hand the coming of the Onslaught. But his lords and superiors dismiss his warnings as mere rabble. Determined to make them see what he saw, he calls together a peace council between the Four Kingdoms. Unfortunately, things will take a turn for the worse as one of the Four betray the others, throwing northern Omeria into great turmoil. Joric will have to band together with the other survivors of this betrayal and build a resistance strong enough to withstand the inevitable Onslaught.

Meanwhile, the Wood Elves prepare for the Onslaught with what little soldiers they have. The Drow also know of this inevitable invasion, but are more concerned about leaving Blackhorne unprotected. They must put aside their differences for once and face the Onslaught head-on when they arrive.

Background
Their were two races of humans: the Northmen who lived on a northern continent, and the Omerians. The Omerians once drove the Elves south and maintained a large empire in northern and central Omeria. This empire would later fall due to repeated raids of the Northmen and internal rebellions. At its fall would spring up three kingdoms: Arkinham, a kingdom divided by small fiefdoms; Storroan, a kingdom of harsh rulers; and Asgeir, a kingdom made of Northmen who settled the lands they raided, and became 'civilized', becoming the Varan. These make up the Four Kingdoms, although Arkinhma is technically several small kingdoms combined into one.

The Elves were once the High Elves, but that was long before the ages of man. After an event known as the Arcane Wars (a war that divided the High Elves over how magic should be used), they were socially and physically divided into the Wood Elves and the Drow. The Drow would later build the city of Blackhorne in the wastelands, and he Wood Elves would devolve into forest-folk.

The Feyhorn's ancestry and origin is a mystery, but most believe they're the remnants of the first Onslaught and now live in scattered tribes throughout the central region.
Holy crap, I'm interested. But I think you should add some Dwarves.

I've never been a fan of dwarves to be honest. I don't like to include or mention them in any of my RP's.

Nortrom said
I'm interested. I'll make a character for the "South" storyline if this gets enough interest.

Well you could make a character for the south and the north if you wanted.
This is still in progress, but this is what I have so far.

The biggest thing is the event known as 'the Onslaught', which is basically when a horde of savages and monsters invade Omeria from across the southern seas. The southern seas are dangerous, and you can only sail across them at certain periods, and when that period comes everyone from that southern continent sail northwards to Omeria and invade, which is what the Onslaught basically is.

Omeria itself is inhabited by four kingdoms of man, two groups of elves, and a race of demon-like beings known as Feyhorn. The humans live in the north, the Feyhorn in the south, and the elves in the south. And to put it simply: racism is very prominent and almost everyone hates outsiders. It's very bitter and harsh in Omeria.

The Onslaught is underway and Omeria must prepare. Because the Elves live in the south, they're the first line of defense. Unfortunately, the elven races are divided between the Wood Elves and the Drow, and if they even hope to stand a chance they'll need to put aside their differences and work together - but that might not even be enough.

Meanwhile the humans are largely divided into the four kingdoms and fight a lot over petty things (like land, for one). But one man has seen what will happen if Omeria falls and has managed to call together a peace council. Unfortunately, one of the four kingdoms seeks to betray the others at this council, which will cause even more trouble.

The RP will follow two story lines that occur at the same time, and you may have a character in both storylines:

The North: You'll be a human, a Feyhorn, or a City Elf (elves who live in human kingdoms, mostly the ghettos). You'll be at this peace council, for whatever reason, and be part of the group that forms after it is attacked. This storyline will follow these survivors as they attempt to form uneasy pacts between the four kingdoms and unite them to prepare for the Onslaught. It's more or less politically-driven as we deal with the politics and tensions and racisms in Omeria.

The South: You'll be a Wood Elf or Drow (they were all once High Elves but were divided and suffered a setback after the Arcane Wars physically divided them into the Wood and the Dark Elves (Drow)). This story will follow the Elves as they are viciously attacked by the Onslaught and try to hold onto what little time they have left.

The two storylines will eventually draw closer and combine and result in an ultimate finale between the survivors and the Onslaught.
