Special Note: I work 7 days a week. That being said, there may be days I don't post, maybe even a week I don't post. But it's alright, I'll come back and try to post as soon as I can, but my job and life comes first.
Special Note: I may need to review and revise this OOC later, so some stuff is subject to change.

Darkstar

Welcome to Darkstar! This roleplay is about a team of unique individuals found throughout the galaxy who unite to take down a common foe: Gortex. However, this roleplay is about the journey, not the destination. Each player-character has a personal goal (or a set of personal goals) that they wish to fulfill, but they're going to require the help of their new-found allies to accomplish them. Another important factor is that each character's history is hidden, so it will only be revealed via IC in that particular character's dialogue. In this sense, the characters will gradually learn about each other, interact with each other, and will be forced to rely on each other to complete their objectives.

Each player-character, in some or another, has been affected by Gortex. What he did to you is entirely up to you, but your character harbors some sort of resentment to him. Whether he hurt you, stole from you, cheated you, killed your family, whatever. This is the prime reason our characters actually decide to work together - to take down a common foe. Gortex is, or at least he was, an alien warlord of a now-extinct alien species (Gortex being the last of his kind). He is now the leader of the powerful Black Moons, a mercenary-turned-terrorist organization; however, his grasp expands all across the galaxy. Six (my character) is a bounty hunter working for the mysterious Dax Strattix, CEO of Strattix Inc; Six has been working against Gortex for three years but he alone isn't enough to stop him. At the request of Dax, Six decides to recruit the most talented individuals throughout the galaxy to help him take down Gortex - and that just happens to be YOU. Dax Strattix provides Six with Starhawk, a highly-advanced spacecraft designed specifically for Darkstar.

Story
Centuries ago you had the Kerini Empire, led by the Kerini race. They were so advanced that their technology allowed them to steamroll everyone else in the galaxy. But they grew to large and their empire was hard to maintain. The Empire eventually crumbled as the other species fought for freedom. These years would come to be known as the Kerini Conquests. With the spread of Kerini technology, the other species rapidly advanced their own scientific discoveries and were able to harness FTL travel, among other things.

Over time the Republic of Corvais would arise. Corvais was a bustling metropolis, and a center for trade in the galaxy. A council was soon formed, and this council was soon aided by powerful factions, and the Republic would soon form from all of this. the Republic then set out to establish colonies and invite other worlds into their fold. As the Republic grew, so did discontent for other factions who wanted to remain independent.

After many years of peace, the galaxy would be thrust into conflict. A terrorist attack on Corvais caused the Republic to immediately brand all rivals as enemies - and the Corvais Wars began. The Republic deployed troops across the galaxy and met with critical success. However, the Federation was quickly formed to resist this engagement and the two major factions waged a short but bloody and destructive war. It finally ended with a peace treaty, which returned all previous possessions to both parties. In a way, the treaty practically implied the war was for nothing.

It has been almost eight years since the war. This is when the RP begins.

Character Rules
I want our characters to be very unique and varied. That's not a requirement, as my character will be very stock and is not unique or varied at all. But I want you to know that your character can be anyone you want them to be. However, saying that can result in characters who could potentially 'break' the RP. I ain't talking about being OP, but I don't want no gargantuan beasts. They don't have to be humanoid... but... well, you should get what I mean. Come up with something and run it by me.

'Magic' is also allowed. Things like the Force, Biotics, and Psionics are very common in sci-fi adventures, and I want you guys to be able to use this sort of stuff. Any sort of power is fine, whether they' cosmic, elemental, or whatever - run it by me.

All characters are required to:
-Have hidden histories. You may reveal some basic stuff, but go ahead and come up with a history but don't tell anyone. The goal is for our own characters to uncover a character's history themselves, that way it'll feel like they're actually bonding.
-The Big Bad has hurt you.

Important Factions
Republic of Corvais - The second-largest faction in the galaxy. They control a little more than 25% of the galaxy. The capital is on the planet Corvais, and they are lead by a delegation of representatives from sovereign planets. They dedicate themselves to the 'economic growth of all planets', but they're also corrupt in some sense. they are very strict and have been known to impose some harsh laws on their citizens, and they have a heavy emphasis on their military - quite possibly the strongest in the entire galaxy.
The Federation - The Federation was formed to resist the growing Republic of Corvais. These factions did not want to abide by Republic laws, but never openly engaged them. When a terrorist attack on Corvais occurred the Republic quickly deployed armed forces throughout the galaxy. Many factions decided to ally together to resist the Republic. Even though the Corvais Wars have ended, the Federation still maintains a loose alliance 'just in case'. In its full strength, they are much larger than the Republic, but not as funded and they can't deploy a formidable, cohesive military like the Republic can.
Kerini Empire - Centuries ago the Kerini Empire nearly conquered the galaxy. They were defeated and gradually diminished, but they've been able to maintain a healthy military. They're also quite capable of defending themselves, but they have not engaged in any sort of large-scale conflicts for a very long time. They are not multi-species, and are run entirely the Kerini race.
Strattix Incorporated - An advanced manufacturing company who creates some of the best technology in the galaxy. From weapons, to armor, to vehicles and mechs - they have some very high-tech items for sale to governments and gangsters alike. It is led by Dax Strattix, CEO of Strattix Inc. They are very shady, mysterious, and secretive.
Blastex Industries - A large weapons manufacturing company who have started to develop powerful military vehicles and mechs. They have factories all over the place and are known to be aggressive, greedy, and dangerous.
MegaFix Arms and Armor - They are not as well-funded or advanced as Strattix Inc. is, but MegaFix is one of the most reliable manufacturers in the galaxy.
Sons of the Black Star - A mercenary gang that inhabits Deadzone. Mostly supplied, hired, and associated with Blastex Industries.
The Matriarchs - An all-female mercenary gang that inhabits Deadzone. They are often funded by Strattix Inc.

I got a saddle big enough for a T-Rex and I could probably ride you into battle. You could breath fire on our enemies and toss them around while I chant heroic lyrics for our allies.
Let me explain Deadzone a bit better.

Alright, so it's a lawless region of space that none of the other factions have really been able to maintain. A lot of the galaxy's most-wanted criminals end up fleeing here. It's not always been like that, but once you start filling the galaxy with law and order the crooks HAVE to end up going somewhere, and over the centuries they've just been pushed into Deadzone. In the middle of Deadzone is a very large space-station, akin to Omega from Mass Effect.

Throughout Deadzone are habitable planets with rich resources. Naturally, they would be colonized, maintained, and mined of these resources, but the Dominion, Federation, and other factions can't really do that because Deadzone is so dangerous. You risk being attacked by pirates, or being sold off by slavers, or being extorted by mercenaries - that sort of stuff.

However, there are some very big, very important, very influential corporations in the galaxy. Blastex Industries and Strattix Inc. are just two of these corporations. They're... 'corrupt' to say the least. They most notably manufacture weapons and armor, but they're known to manufacture things like mechs, vehicles - hell, even microwaves and music players. They have a lot of factories and a lot of corporate buildings located throughout the galaxy...

...and they just happen to have a few shady locations throughout Deadzone as well. These very rich, very greedy, very powerful 'businesses' are really fronts to other forms of business. They're legitimate factions and they even hold sway in Dominion and Federation government. Rather than pay taxes and have to follow strict guidelines underneath the government, Blastex and Strattix rely on illegal business in Deadzone. They may purchase slaves to work in the mines, hire mercenaries to guard their property, fund pirates and gangs to carry out 'covert; operations against anyone who threatens them.

There's this 'Big Bad' in the roleplay, and he's done something that has hurt us all. I don't know what he did to YOU guys, but he's done something that has pissed off 'Six' (my character). Six has been in the employment of Dax Strattix, CEO of Strattix Inc. Dax has supplied him with arms and armor in order to hunt down the 'Big Bad' and bring his forces crashing down, and he's been at it for a few years now, but his efforts are just not enough. In order to finally bring the Big Bad down, Six must track down and recruit the toughest, strongest, and most capable beings in the whole Galaxy - and that just so happens to be YOU. Will you answer his call of help, and will you trust them to help you with your own problems?

So while the RP is about taking down the Big Bad, it's also about character relationships and how they grow throughout the course of the story. As the RP continues, our characters will help each other complete their personal goals.
Just got news today I'll be working for the next 9 days, so I am not sure if I can get an OOC up within that time. Very slim chance I could find time, but no guarantee.

Types of tech is like shields, FTL drives, laser weapons, jetpacks , powered armor... advanced type of technology. Just give me some examples you would want and I can tell you about how I feel about them. But remember, magic is allowed to.. Magic like Biotics, the Force, Psionics and whatnot - it's common in most sci-fi nowadays.

Custom species are allowed - and encouraged.
Okay, so the galaxy is divided into four quadrants. No names for them yet, but I know one will be 'Deadzone'.

There are two major factions: the Starx Dominion and the Federation. You got smaller factions, like the Kerini Empire, but they're not necessarily important right now. The Starx Dominion is very military-like and field powerful, large, well-trained, well-equipped forces in order to annex all sorts of systems throughout the galaxy. They control a little over 1/4th of the galaxy. The Federation was once a collection of other factions who resisted the Starx Dominion, but they have been severely weakened after the Corvais Wars. The Kerini Empire... well, they once tried to conquer the galaxy, but that was long, long ago. Corvais was a very important, very advanced planet, and capital of the Starx Dominion. Tension built up between the Dominion and the Federation until a terrorist attack on Corvais thrust the galaxy into conflict. The war was long and bloody, and ended with a stalemate - a treaty was signed that pretty much placed all possessions in the hands of either faction (so no one really gained or lost any possessions). Corvais, however, was horribly damaged. The war began, occurred, and ended on Corvais, and the once-bustling metropolis is now a shadow of its former self.

Now the Starx Dominion is rebuilding. Corvais-2 has become the new capital of their region of space. The Federation maintains most of its holdings, but the alliance is weakening, and civil war is possible. Meanwhile the Kerini Empire suffered no losses in the war, and so have an advantage if they ever try to start one (there are rumors THEY were the terrorists on Corvais).

Deadzone... this is what I like. Deadzone is a region of space where no one faction exerts control. Thieves, thugs, smugglers, druglords, criminals, killers, assassins, mercenaries, bounty hunters, scum,... that sort of stuff runs rampant. Drugs, alcohol, night clubs, sex, and violence is common. Their is a large spacestation here that has evolved over the centuries. It has been added onto, modified, and expanded and is a marvelous site - a literal wonderment of construction, but built entirely by scumbags.

Planets in Deadzone are rich in resources, but no one can really get there safely.

TO BE FINISHED SOON.
Thanks for the interest!

Species would be custom.. but only to an extent. For example, no oversized gargantuans. Look up Guardians of the Galaxy, or Squad Members from Mass Effect 2. Those are very varied and different - but the design works.

Once again, I work 5 days a week, barely have any free time, and I possibly work 7 days a week.
