You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.
Thanks!

Drisceya could only smile that cruel and pointed smile, "Excellent." With a wave of her hand, she dismissed them. Kalim stood up and nodded, gently scooping up the distraught Healer as gently as one might a babe, keeping her in his hands. He looked over at his new squire and nodded toward the door. His own knife sliced past his face, taking several whiskers with it before thumping in the door. "Be nicer to Glacia for a bit, her sister died the other day."

This wasn't just a caring piece of advice, but a show of strength and dominance. For all the Katzheer's skills and strengths, he was nowhere near Drisceya's league. Kalim took his knife from the door and slipped it into the sheathe where he swore it was just a moment ago. He opened the door and stepped out, letting his nerves calm and the fur all over his body settle. That woman was terrifying. He needed to develop a plan for her, just in case. He left the depot, glaring at anyone whose gaze passed to the crying Fairy for longer than a moment. Once outside, he brought the fairy up to his eye level, "You do know you're not banished from your village right? If anything, as civilian representative, you'll be going back and forth rather often, probably more than you'd like. As for your brother here, he will be fine, all of my squires are strong and successful."

He wasn't often a comforting individual, but the strength the little fairy had shown in there had impressed him a bit. "Oh, might as well start your training now boy." He pulled a coin pouch from a pocket, weighed it in his palm and added a few more coins to it, and handed it to the new squire. The weight nearly dragged him to the ground instantly, but the boy fought through it and fluttered back up. "I expect you to keep up and no complaints. Every time you make me wait, or I hear the slightest sound of distress, I'll add a coin."

The new captain placed the healer on his shoulder, "Let's go see Master Longarm then." He made his way through town, and if Lii were observant at a pace just a hair slower than when they'd arrived. Once they stopped in front of Longarm's clinic, "I'll leave you here for now, to get reacquainted. I have other business to attend to for now." He turned to leave, allowing for no time for goodbyes to be exchanged.
She'd walked back through her apothecary, lugging her accounting books along. She deposited them on the table and opened them to the same page. They were identical in every way, one was for her own use, the other was to turn in monthly with her loan payment, to ensure that all was in order. She started at the top of the page, for she started a brand new page each day. This certainly wasted some of the pages, but it made it easier for her to keep it all organized and such. Her father had taught her to read and do basic math as a little girl using his own books to teach, so this always reminded her of those days.

"Tonic to reduce womanly cramps, 3 silvers, to miss Kyara. Salve to heal sunburn, 1 silver, to the Lefston twins. A sack of dried basil, 5 golds, to Shkara." This went on for a few minutes, her reading this aloud, checking her math. "Thirty-Five golds today. Definitely a good day." She finally set about to eating her food now that it had cooled. Just as a piece of fish entered her mouth, she heard a loud bang from her apothecary.

Someone or something was in there. She grabbed a burning stick from the fire and her pan as well. She moved slowly, "Hello, is someone there? I'm armed and my husband will be home soon." The first part was barely true, and the latter was an outright lie, but if there was someone, she had hoped to scare them off. Her impromptu torch was out in front of her as she entered her apothecary, looking around.

Over by her window, the one she'd closed earlier, was a man with fiery red hair dressed in dark colors. But rather than scream, she clammed up. She'd been hoping it was just another curious raccoon or cat. But it was a thief or assassin or rapist or some other horror. She gripped the handle of her pan tight trying to muster the courage to speak, but finding none.
A Knight's Scholar - GM & Gianna Ember This RP also exists since I didn't know about it til yesterday :D
Starting Date and Time: 30th Day of Mauven, 300 DM, midday

Starting Location: Green Fall, village center

CS URLs: Verissa Beatrix Greenlakes aka Trix & Rilana Aurorime'

Trix walked pleasantly along the guarded caravan that, still wincing occasionally at the general, bodily soreness she'd felt. She still hadn't fully come to terms with what had happened five days ago at the Knights' Tournament, and really didn't wish to think about all those that died, those she couldn't save. It was heart breaking. For now, she basked in the sunlight, listening to a rather comical tune that a handful of dwarves were singing.

Trix blushed furiously at the song, but couldn't help but laugh. The caravan left the sunshine and passed through the shaded coverage of the Chartric Forest. She'd only been to Green Fall once, as a young girl, and all she could remember were giant trees. And that had not changed now that she was taller. Her blonde hair and green skirt swished in the wind as the logging village came into view.

Her father had told her once that the best guard dogs were raised and bred here, and after being robbed recently, she decided it was time to get one. She wasn't really sure which breeds were best, nor how to tell a good pup from a bad one. Once in the village proper, it didn't take long to find the many outdoor kennels, where the dogs ran across vast treed lawns kept in by finely crafted wooden fences. She looked many of them over, not even sure of most of the breeds. That black one looked like the Ebon Pinscher... the one with the bright blue eyes might be a Frostfell Fanger...

Her brow furrowed as her frustration grew. A man came over to assist her, scooping up a chocolate colored pup, "Wutchya lookin' for, miss?"

She could feel his eyes passing over her, and she shifted uncomfortably, "Um, I need a, uh, guard dog." The man's eyes lit up, realizing he had an easy sale, a sucker. He walked past her, making sure to glance up the back as he'd had the front, "O'er here we have the Ebon Brute. Finest guard dog, and I breed 'em exclusively. Smar' as a whip, quick ta train, will keep any robbers away." She flinched a bit at the thought of the robbery, and he knew he'd succeeded. The breed name was the only thing he hadn't lied about. The Brute was dumb, hard to train, and terribly common in these part.

"I'll part with a pup for say... seventy-five golds."

Trix's eyes widened at the exorbitant number. She'd been expecting to spend twenty-five at most. Guard dogs were supposed to be cheaper of the breeds, she'd thought, since they didn't earn profit like hunters, trackers, and war dogs. If this was the price, she could pay it, but it would make things tight and uncomfortable for a long while. Most of her money went back to the loan for her shop. Her palms were sweaty, she was never good at this part of business. She didn't deal with merchants typically, often gathering her own materials, and just being paid what people could afford to give. She didn't get into being an herbalist for the money, but to be around the plants she loved and to help people. Her face was knit with worry, but she needed a dog, she couldn't afford to be robbed again.

"I... I uh, guess I can pay that..."
Captain Theren watched the young Sylph woman work from his place hidden in the shadows of a particularly dark corner. He'd been watching her for many days now. He was convinced that she was a mage of some sort, but he hadn't quite been able to figure it out. And he knew this because he constantly watched her with his own ability. By focusing his magic into his eyes, he could see that magic actually existed in every person. But most didn't know it existed, and of those that did, very few knew how to control it. This woman did seem to know how to use magic, but for the life of him, he could not determine the results. He had seen her magic well up in her head, mingle and change... somehow, then get pushed out through her hands into various objects, before coming back, yet again changed.

This made her quite interesting to him. His own magic was known to a select few of his superiors, and they put him in charge of a new, special company. It was not near the standard company size of 125 people, but it could be one day. The few knights whose magic had been discovered had been put into this company, roughly ten strong currently. She was trained as a scribe, so she could certainly be of use. The main problem though, was that she wasn't a Knight. And it looked like it would take a couple of years at least to make her physically strong enough to be a proper knight.

But the knights did occasionally employ civilian specialists. Perhaps that would interest her. The amount of sighing and gloominess she'd expressed lately made him think that she was bored with her lot in life, and he couldn't blame her. Knights had more paperwork than any other employer, and most dreaded it. He knew he did. He'd even heard that Kalim in Silent Rise had once tried to cripple a messenger that was bringing him a stack of backlogged paperwork. Crazy Katzheer.

Deciding enough was enough, Theren flicked off his magic empowered vision, now seeing the less vivid colors of the mundane world. His footsteps were completely silent, not from magic, but years of practice, as he moved behind her. His breath silent and held, he leaned down just as she relaxed her wings, his face just behind her ear. Smiling, as he prepared his body to move quite rapidly out of a reactive attack. Whispering lightly, "A woman as smart as you should do more than copying others' work."

He quickly skipped back, expecting some sort of flail or startle, looking at her with his crimson eyes. He was not in the Ebonsteel armor, for he left that at home, preferring dark leathers. His captain sash on wrapped around his left arm was bright crimson, and a pair of swords hung from both hips, though peacetied. Theren knew they were alone, so he decided to be blunt, "I want to know what your magic does. I know you can use it, so don't bother lying."

For the 3 remaining, post order will be quite simple. Post as much as you'd like, so long as there is at least 1 post from someone else after your previous one. I'd like at least 1 post a week from everyone, myself included. If everyone has posted at least once before a week, I will reply then and the cycle resets.

Questions, concerns, comments, you know what to do.
As the man passed, Trix thought she could feel his soul leave his body. There would be time for tears later, for Trix's gaze was drawn to a slew of wounded and dead left behind the monster. The healthy had managed to escape, with the exception of those still trapped in the upper corner of the stands. Trix moved forward, seeing other medics and doctors do the same around her. The Warden Knights that had served as judges were giving out commands to the squires, mainly moving the wounded out of the area. But they were doing so haphazardly. Trix rushed up to a small group of squires that were carrying a man with a minor contusion on his head, and a woman whose arm was missing from below the elbow.

"Stop, move the man over there by the food stands, he'll be fine. Leave the woman here, she doesn't have time to be moved." The squires looked at her incredulously, and a Warden Knight moved over to scold the disrespectful civilian. But he was stopped by a massive, clawed paw. "Do as the healer says. Her mind is clear."

The Warden was shocked at the order, but obeyed, "Yes Lord Knight Svarak."

Trix took that as permission to continue, "Those without life threatening injuries, move over there and keep them protected. Those that seem to be dying, leave here." The squires nodded and the Wardens moved away to begin relaying the ordered to others. Lord Knight Svarak, however, moved toward the creature in the stands calmly. The massive lion like Charr had a very imposing presence, in his Ebonsteel armor, trimmed gold, especially with the foreign, crystalline great sword strapped to his back. Everyone knew him. Lord Knight of the Citadel, one of the five rulers of the Ebon Knights, and thus, Ebonfort. And Lord Knights were not cushion positions, they were the fiercest, smartest, strongest fighters in the empire.

When he reached the bottom of the stands, he let loose feral roar, startling many in the near vicinity. He had challenged the creature to one on one combat and he knew it would understand that. The creature turned at the challenging roar, its tail swiping a few of the trapped patrons over the stand, not caring as they fell many feet onto the soft grass. Its yellow eyes glared warily at the challenger. It could feel the ominous aura of strength this new opponent provided, he was not like these... weaklings. This was a real threat. It slowly stalked side to side on the stand, never taking its gaze off the unarmed Charr, sizing it up.

Lord Knight Svarak grinned as he watched his prey continue to walk back and forth cautiously, waiting for his moment. CRACK! One of the wooden seats snapped, and for the briefest of moments the creature was distracted. Svarak leapt forward, using the stands to propel him forward as he ran on all four limbs. When he closed the gap, the monster's attention returned, but Svarak was already around to the side. He charged forward, and tackled with his armored shoulder into the creature's mid section. The bony armor held, but the creature was tossed off balance to its right side. It turned quickly to bite down on this attacker, and felt a fist devastate its lower jaw. The Charr didn't want to kill this creature. He wanted it captured, and thus, left his sword undrawn.

Trix ripped a long stretch of cloth from her skirt, and grabbed a sturdy stirring spoon from her kit, normally used to help make salves. The woman was barely conscious, not really even noticing her presence. The arm was missing from about the middle of the bicep. The blood loss would kill her very soon if not quickly handled. She tied the strip of cloth into a loop, and slipped one end under the stub. She then stuck her spoon in the loop above the arm and began twisting it. As it twisted, the loop tightened and tightened, until with a few last squirts, the bleeding stop. She slipped the spoon in the tightened loop, satisfied with the tourniquet.

This would only be a temporary measure. In order to stop infection, she'd need to cut away the excess meat, and cauterize the wound. Standing up, she looked around at the abandoned food stands, seeing a few fires and ovens still burning, left unattended. She rushed toward one, not noticing the fight between the Lord Knight and the monster. If she had, she would have seen the monster's tail swipe through a wooden railing, and noticed the wooden rail flying toward her. When she did, she managed to get her arms up, trying to best defend herself. There was an impact, but not on her arms. It had struck something invisible just inches above them, but the blow was strong enough to knock her arms back into her face and sending her tumbling head over heels. Trix lay there stunned, groaning in pain, trying to raise herself up, not even realizing that she momentarily revealed her magic. There would be time to worry about that later, there were still many people to save.
