So it was Jak. Why she was out at such a time, Fionn didn’t know. Yet, he was concerned for her—she was someone that he considered a friend. He continued to watch Jak closely, noting that she had retreated into the shade of the buildings as if she was hiding something. It was then that she told him that she had been kicked out of the house. What kind of mother kicks her daughter out of the house for doing nothing wrong? Fionn thought as he stepped closer to Jak. ”Jak…” he began, his voice low. ”I don’t think it’s a good idea if you stay out here. Maybe…”

Fionn paused for a moment. He didn’t know if his mom would allow him to bring a girl home. But Jak needed help, and he had found her. He couldn’t just abandon her in the rain, could he? ”You should stay at my place for the night. My mom’s baking cookies and it’s better than standing in the rain.” he waited for an answer, hoping that she would agree. Jak could use the time away from her mother. ”And I could sleep on the couch while you sleep on my bed.”
