Who's up for a good fight? See me if you like Jurassic Park, Mortal Kombat, and Cthulhu Mythos in one.

Bio

I prefer group RPs and cooperation in between players. Usual characters are superhumans, half-human hybrids, cynics, and Nietzscheans. Usual settings are civil wars, blood feuds, and/or outside-context problems.

BTW, are we allowed only one weapon each?

How it works is that you have one for long range, one for mid-range, and one for close range for maximum amount of armaments. For heavies, you have a LMG, chaingun, or minigun for long range (primary weapon), rocket launcher for medium range (secondary weapon), and a combat knife/dagger or even a machete, as they are technically long knives for close range (melee weapon). I put up the character bios as examples plus it is best to read ICs for ideas.

Vordak, if you have further questions, I'm available via PM and the IRC. I can answer them in real time.
Likely Most likely. There is going to be that for warm-up.
Derpestein is right. Also, I can answer questions in real time at the IRC.

Alright, i weren't really hoping for that to work out anyways. But could you go into a bit more detail on the equipment? How tough is the armor (and do we actualy wear it, does it differ throughout the calsses, and how do weapons classify? For example, can i arm an assault rifle loaded with HE bullets, and would it be a heavy weapon, or an assault?

When it comes to these things, I admit I wanted to copy paste from XCOM: Enemy Unknown and adapt as I go along. The conventional armor is good against mainly conventional weapons plus is part of the uniform standard for now. We will research more weapons and armor as we progress through the chapters and acts. For weapons, an assault rifle still is an assault rifle plus we don't have HE rounds. We have not deployed them yet and that is an upgrade exclusive to Heavies with machine guns As I said before, the game and story are integrated. If it isn't available now, it may be available later.

EDIT: As long as it does not break either game or story, it's fine. After all, I do want some amount of fairness and reality.

Hey guys, any chance of me joining as a melee fighter? Like, some magic agumented demon-slayer-esque squadmate?

EDIT: i know, exchanging a gun for a blade might sound unreasonable, but melee weapons have the potential to deal massive trauma, compared to bullets, outmatched only by explosives or pellets, which may work effectively against the undead; and if there are any heavily armored or insanely fast enemies planned ahead, melee weapons, in the hands of an unhumanly strong weilder, can both decimate armor to create large openings for gunfire and overcome speed with trick and feints that firearms are devoid of. Morever, a trained brawler would be used to close-range attacks, reacting faster and more percise to ambushes or charges of various feral beasties and such. Sort of a special arms guy that trades versality for unique advantages against the paranormal.

EDIT 2: if the characters get to be stronger than man, then a melee weapon can also generate huge amount of kinetic energy as well. Lets say, he sling a 10 kg hunk of metal at 100 m/s- about 1/3 of sound's speed. 100^2*10*0.5= 50 000. That nearly the amount of kinetic energy a single shot from a Vulcan exerts. And if he is twice as strong and has a denser weapon? 200^2*20*0.5=400 000! 8 times the power, all in one hit. And if we also take into account that most melee weapons have a significantly larger cross-sectional desity than most bullets, thanks to which bayonets still remian so effective at penetrating armor, this might even out melee weapons and explosives.

In theory that is sound, but this is XCOM with Paranormal, not Devil May Cry. Let us discuss in practice. By the time you try to close in, you'll be dead before you get in melee's range.. The melee weapons you'll receive for now (because we are at the lower levels) is a combat knife that can be a bayonet, which turns a gun into a spear. In melee weapons, the spear outperforms the sword due to range and puncture wounds are more severe. And the creatures we're fighting aren't your garden variety monsters. Besides...you'll have to know that idea of yours may break the game-play and story. Also, with the higher levels, you're idea would leave you a one trick pony. However, you can have ranged on the side. I must warn you I can be quite fastidious as I intend to make sure that the game and story integrate well. Lastly, overspecialization is not something to be desired. So you might want to revise your idea for more practical solution such as melee as main course while the ranged weapons on the side.

TLDR: Bad idea.

The suppressing fire connected to the Djinn as it was going tor William. Alina and Goliath injured it while Xavier provided the finishing blow. Now we need to rescue another Iranian. William may take the lead as Alina is going to investigate.
