Well, I don't even know what was trying to be accomplished. The Alliance knows they're outmatched, so all they may have been trying to do was save as many citizens as possible.

*Flies in in a jet at Mach 9 and fires missiles at the nearby mob of alenemy soldiers, blowing them up amd covering them in a purple sludge. Some of the ones coated spontaneously combust into more and more of the sludge, spreading it to the others and it repeats. I eject from the plane above everyone and the plane crashes into the back of the enemy lines, clearing out the more distant ones. My parachute deploys and I softly land near everyone*
