Alex smirked. He had a feeling he knew precisely what Jason meant. 'Not at all.' Alex answered. 'It might be weird to some people, but I think I understand what you mean.' Alex told him, trying to convey his message across, without getting to far into what he was saying.
Leon looked at Avery, she was right, this wasn't normal. 'You're being pulled into the dream world. A demon, probably a psychic one, is after you. They're trying to trap you in a nightmare. You have to fight it. Think of good times, try and avoid anything dark or scary. Think of food, and rainbows, and sunrise, and birds, and butterflies. Think of things you will see on the surface. Things that don't ever turn up in nightmares.' He told her. He threw a ball of light in the air, allowing it to hover above them. 'Don't sleep. Just don't fall asleep.'
Alex sighed. This was no use. He looked thoughtful as he thought about his favourite Tim Burton movie. 'Probably Nightmare Before Christmas, if I'm honest. But I also love Dark Shadows.' He smiled, remembering some of the funnier moments in the movie. He looked up at Jason. 'How about you?' He asked.
Alex looked at her, holding her head in his hands. 'Avery, I need you to look into my eyes.' He told her. 'Stay awake just a little longer. I need you awake right now.' He was being forceful, he knew, but he had to be. He couldn't risk her falling asleep before he managed to get her into a trance.
Alex chuckled. 'Good to know.' He made a mental note that Jason and him had some movies in common. 'He is a brilliant director, and Johnny Depp is an amazing actor.' Alex said. 'So is Helena Bonham Carter.' He added. He wondered whether Jason would mention if he found either one attractive, that would be a great test, not that it could make much of a difference...
Alex was quickly thinking what to talk about when he noticed Jason's hoodie. 'I'm guessing you're a fan of Nightmare Before Christmas.' Alex said, smiling at him. It was one of his favourite movies, but he could never be sure why. Possibly because it was a kids movie directed by Tim Burton with music by Panic At The Disco. Alex found that amazing, if he was honest with himself.
Alex shook his head. 'No, your body needs rest and that's what it's going to get. You might not be able to fall into a natural sleep, but I could put you in a trance that would allow your body and mind to rest for a while. If anything happens, the trance will break and you'll be able to defend your home.'
Leon shook his head. 'No, you needed rest. It's understandable. I didn't think of keeping you awake, either. I should have been a little more vigilant. This could have been a lot worse.' He said, pulling Avery into a hug, feeling like she needed comforting at this point in time.
Alex smiled as Jason blushed. He would never admit the reason behind his smile though, he couldn't. When he mentioned about going to the library, Alex nodded. 'Yeah, sure. But I'd prefer it if you kept the tutoring talk to a minimum during school, I don't want everyone knowing I'm getting extra help.' He chuckled. 'I don't need the whole school knowing that I can't quite keep up with my English lessons.' He smiled slightly. 'Trust me, if one person hears, it'll pass through school in a couple of days.'
Alex nodded. 'Well, first of all, the work is impeccable.' He smiled up at Jason. 'And secondly, the little drawings on the side are awesome.' He chuckled. He had took his time on the work so he made no errors, he couldn't let himself slip. He was trying to impress Jason, he wasn't entirely sure why it was needed, Jason was tutoring him, so he already knew he had trouble, academically, but he didn't want to seem too terrible at school. The drawings, however, he was not expecting. He wondered what else Jason drew.
