After dealing with the other man, or at least believing he was dealt with, Allen went on to explain what had happened to his daughter. She was in fact infected by whatever was spreading, whatever had the military hyped up, and Allen did not know to what extent she had been exposed. The story was hard to believe, even with the quarantine. A mother turning on her child and biting her ankle? Jay did not like to jump to conclusions but was Allen implying that Caitlyn's mother had turned into a mutant or a zombie, or something like that? It was completely ridiculous. But then again, he could not argue with the facts. If Caitlyn did have a human bite mark on her ankle, and Allen did see her mother putting it there, then... well Jay really did not know what then. This was real life, not a movie or a game. Stuff like that just did not happen. There would have had to have been a reasonable explanation for why Caitlyn's mother bit her, maybe drugs or alcohol. But Jay would not pry any further into the event because it was too late to do anything about it.
The story was told and then Allen surprised Jay by asking for help. These two men had just met and now Allen was not only asking for Jay's help, but also trusting him. Normally Jay would have backed out right then. It would have been the smart thing to do. But considering the circumstances, and the fact that Allen was essentially Jay's only "friend" in the world, he decided to help. Allen said that he would kill the other man, Harrison, if he tried to talk. Jay pretended that he did not hear it, and instead addressed the earlier points. "Well you know what, I think that Caitlyn shouldn't have walked over that broken glass. Then she wouldn't have tripped on it and cut her ankle" Jay said, patting Allen on the shoulder.
"To be completely honest, I would like to get out of here. But the military would not quarantine us inside of an airport if they didn't have a good reason", this statement was directed at Allen and Harrison (who had interjected himself into the conversation quite rudely). Harrison then mentioned the windows and doors being boarded up. "You know I'm not a professional but they usually don't board up windows and doors to keep people in... if you catch my drift. If what Allen is saying, and the news is saying too, is true and there is some" he stuttered for a moment, stumbling over his words trying to think of the correct phrase. "Some sort of virus spreading out there" Jay pointed towards the small window, indicating he was referring to outside, "then maybe it'd be best to wait it out in here". He let his quick speech settle in before making one last statement. "That being said, if it's no longer safe in here, then I'd maybe think about leaving" Jay said, calmly and blatantly. Though Harrison had jumped into the conversation, and had been rambling on about craziness, he had been helpful. Jay would not have been aware of the boarding of windows and doors if it was not for Harrison, as well as the fact that they were moving closer and closer to a frenzy outside.
