Chloe had gotten lucky and she was thankful for it. She was still alive and although she hadn’t hit him, Josef had managed to get up and help her out before the soldier could regain his senses. When he said so, Chloe lowered her axe breathing heavily and trying to regain control. She managed to mumble a “Thank you”, though it was very soft and hard to hear over her panting. For now she needed to calm herself before something else came up and she did something just as, if not even more stupid than what she had just tried to do.

She was unable to have that time yet, as shouting could be heard getting closer to their location and she followed quickly after Josef. She ran after him, towards the Jeep, and after his nod, followed him, crouching and positioning herself in the front seat, making sure she kept lower than Josef so that he could see what was going on. It seemed she would have to wait in order to calm down but that didn’t keep her from trying to take deep, slow and quiet breaths as she observed Joan and the back of the carrier.

She could see the girl raise a gun to the backside of the carrier, which worried her, though it should have done a lot worse. Then the carrier opened though she couldn’t see what was inside, though she tried her hardest to make it out. She almost jumped when she heard shouting and looked around frantically before a pair of black legs stepped in front of her. She put a hand over her mouth to keep any noise from escaping and waited until the figure had moved on before she removed her hand.

She noticed a soldier’s legs make a break for it and Chloe let out a curse. “We need to get Joan out of there.” That was probably obvious. There were those things headed right for her and if they didn’t get her, the soldiers most certainly would after they had taken care of things, or maybe ever while. At that moment she regretted not trying to talk the girl out of it (though she probably wouldn’t have listened), or followed after her (even though she hadn’t noticed until it was too late). She wanted to do something but she was all out of ideas and could only stay crouched and watch.
Night
TT_TT Alright.
Alright.

Dear God. Please don't kill Chloe TT_TT Stupid panicking Chloe...
Chloe was not surprised when Josef began to get angry and panic. When his voice began to get louder she tugged on his shirt again, trying to get his attention. “Quiet…” She said, putting a finger over her lips. If they had even a hope of finding Joan, his yelling wouldn’t help them at all. Their best bet was to stay calm and quiet. Even though she had only known them for maybe an hour or two, she was also worried about Joan; the girl was injured after all. At the very least they had some idea as to where she would be headed.

It was rather easy for her to keep up with the man, even if he was panicked. Chloe took notice of the soldiers and although it bothered her, she didn’t let it get to her too much since they weren’t looking at them. All of a sudden she felt a shove on her shoulder and, startled by it, began to trip and fall into where she had been pushed. She wasn’t sure why she had been pushed but she quickly stood up. She brushed off her pants and nodded at Josef. “It’s alright.” She said, though she had to admit, she was slightly angered by the shove.

Looking around she found that they were in a bar, a recently visited bar at that. It reeked of alcohol. Seemed like someone, probably those soldiers had been having a party. She sighed, alcohol was such a useless thing in times like these, it only dulled the senses. She froze for a moment when she heard footsteps but was quickly snapped herself out of it and followed Josef out the back. They would be safer in the alleys, less people to that had a good view of them

When they rounded the corner she cursed herself. She gasped as she watched Josef fall to the ground, holding his stomach before a gun was quickly pointed right at her. Her mind began to fill with thoughts and panic. Maybe she should try and talk her way out of this; no, he would kill her and Josef before he would let them go, and even worse, he would probably call his buddies over to watch and help out. Finally her mind went blank and all that was left was fear and the ultimate survival instinct; kill or be killed. She ran at him swinging her axe at him with a lot of force. She could only hope that her legs could carry her faster than he could pull that trigger.
I had to reread to figure out if Chloe had ever heard Josef's name. Turns out she has, but he hasn't formally introduced himself.
Chloe nodded in response. Although she didn’t agree with his decision there was nothing that she could do about, he was only thinking of Joan’s safety after all. She was slightly surprised to hear Joan give up the argument, but she thought nothing of it. They had to leave very soon. Finally she was able to finish up her stretches before she made her way over to the mattress, as Joan picked up guns. She waited for the man to help her before she even attempted to lift the mattress. She was strong, but not strong enough to lift a mattress by herself.

When they held the mattress up, Chloe’s jaw dropped. “Seems like someone else had the same idea.” She said, continuing to hold up the mattress so that her new companions could grab what was under. After things were grabbed they moved to the next mattress and found more goodies underneath. She chuckled softly, “Well I thought the plan was clever…” She mumbled to herself as the man grabbed a sniper rifle. Well whoever had hid the guns and supplies before would probably find the guns they had hidden but they did belong to them after all. The only other worry was if someone else came up with the same plan.

As soon as the guns were hidden they left the room silently. With the safety on, she stuffed the pistol into her pants so that she could hold her axe with both hands. The guns were for desperate times so there was no need for her to keep hold of it, she just had to keep it close. They moved quickly in a line, Chloe following behind the man, with Joan behind her. She kept close to him, not wanting to get lost or separated if something unexpected happened. It was best to stick together.

While she checked her surroundings she stopped and grabbed the man’s collar, tugging it softly. “Hey. We have a problem.” There was a moment of silence as she swallowed hard. “I can’t see Joan.” She tried to speak calmly and keep a clear head. She was unsure about how he would react to this news, but she had a feeling that it wouldn’t be good. Joan’s safety seemed to have been the main thing on the man’s mind, so learning that she was not with them, with an injury would probably hit a bad cord.
So are we assuming that my character went with Josef?
