Hugh roared again, after seeing his sword not making it's mark. He swung again and again at the bandit, his strokes getting stronger with every swing. Sweat poured down his face and body, cooling him as he was on the edge of overheating. He continued to swing at the bandit. You would think he might reserve himself, but he could keep fighting like this for days. He had trained to fight harder and fought harder. That kind of power was required for someone who had been on both sides of a siege and been in battles that lasted for several days. There was a reason why his people had once been known far and wide for being the fiercest fighters, though the name of his people was forgotten, the memories of being on the receiving side of their horrifying warfare still remained.

Hugh roared again and charged forward at the highwayman, swinging his shield at the man's face.
My joining my character with the rest of you guys is a work in progress.
The large siege tower of Godfrey of Bouillon rolled up to the walls, dropping its bridge, and unleashing a hail of crusaders. They got on the walls and began hacking away. Crusaders and Fatimid defenders flew off the walls to their deaths, left and right. The clash of arms and blood being spilled, making the ground slippery, and causing an even more dangerous situation on the walls. The crusaders continued to beat forward, shoving the defenders off into the streets to their deaths. It was looking almost like a giant wrestling match, as the crusaders continued to push forward against the ever straining defenders. A defense could only hold for so long against the growing numbers of crusaders. It wouldn't be long before these attackers overwhelmed the defenders.

A last siege tower dropped its bridge on the walls, letting loose a large group of Norman crusaders. Among the Norman crusaders, blending in as best he could, was a squire by the name of Gudmund Tollak, a Norman, came with Robert Curthose's number. He didn't want to look too much like a squire at the moment, as he might be stuck doing some tedious task, instead of advancing with the other crusaders into the city. He didn't appear anything like a squire at the moment, anyways, as he wore his chainmail shirt, coif, and the traditional Norman helmet. He wielded a kite shield and an arming sword, blending in quite well with the other Normans. And of course, he wore the tabard of the crusaders, proudly.

Charging forward with the other crusaders across the bridge, not quite in the front, but close to it, came Gudmund, yelling something that was not quite understandable in the heat of battle. He finally made his way to the front as they poured over the walls into the streets of Jerusalem. The northeast gate, where the crusaders had been attacking at, swung open, as another group of crusaders stormed in. There was no restraining it now. The north east wall had been breached, and the other walls would soon crumble with them.

The crusaders only began to slow down just a bit as they encountered resistance along the streets. Gudmund, along with the others, was adding to his body count little by little, killing the terrified, and sometimes brave, armed defenders in the streets. Citizens would charge out armed, and be cut down, standing no chance against the battle hardened Norman Crusaders.

Killing someone was not as unsettling as it used to be. Gudmund could still remember the faces of the people he killed, burned into his memory. He had grown to accept it after long, since he was carrying the memory of the most important part of a person's life. The nightmare's would continue, and the only thing to do was to keep going and have as much fun as you could when you weren't out killing, because your time might come the next day. In this way of life, people became more hardened and kinetic.

Robert Curthose was determined to lead his men to the Holy Sepulcher and possibly beat all of the other groups. The citizens were running or throwing themselves at the crusaders' feet, begging for mercy, and further slowing them down. Usually they would just step over them or kick them out of the way, but every now and then you got a clever little bastard who decided to stick a knife into a crusader's back and then pretend like he was innocent before an angry crusader hacked him down. This usually was why they would be called out on killing "innocent" people, when the opposite was true. Such was the malady of the warrior.

The blood from the dead bodies was starting to stain Gudmund's clothes. His tunic, though already stained, was getting blood along the edges and some swipes across the front. Finally, after trampling the civilians who pleaded for mercy, they encountered a little bit of real resistance. Some Fatimid defenders had formed a line of shields, but soon the crusaders came running full speed at it, crashing through, as the blood shed began again. As the other crusaders found themselves entangled with the defenders, Gudmund found himself facing off against two defenders, as one stabbed at him with a spear, he charged forward, crashing into the man with his kite shield, and knocking out some teeth and breaking his nose, whilst simultaneously hacking at the other with his sword. This fight, was soon brought to a close as another crusader killed the second man and Gudmund smashed the broken nosed Fatimid into submission with his shield, before pulling back and plunging his sword into the man.

Gudmund was at the forefront with his fellow crusaders, something he had never dreamed would happen on the fateful day. He would be one of the first Norman Crusaders many of these people would see, today, and possibly the last.
Name: Gudmund Tollak
Age: 19
Sex: Male
Race: Human, European
Personality: Dedicated. He was raised as a fighter and tends to give a lot of effort to everything. He likes to focus on one thing at a time and can get a little frustrated when multiple tasks are unloaded on him at once, but can still operate. He is very big on following rules and laws and is very tradition focused. Although he tends to be focused and serious while training or working, he enjoys relaxing and having fun after a long work day.

Appearance: He stands at 5'7", with a strong athletic build, weighing about 180lbs. Most of his body is covered with very short hair. He has a round face that is very handsome. His nose is roman and he has blue eyes. He has brown hair that is roughly chopped at the bottom and extends to his shoulders. His hair is very curly and slightly fluffy. Some locks of his hair are forming dreadlocks. His beard is grown out to the length of his neck, no further than his Adam's apple, and is very roughly grown. His hands are rough and calloused and arms are scratched and bruised. He has become very tanned since reaching the Levant. He tends to wear a dark blue tunic. He wears a brown pair of hosen with leather front lace ankle boots. He wears a leather belt around his waist, typically. His shirt under his tunic is white, a very yellowish stained white.

Skills: He can sing in bass, as his voice is very deep and sometimes monotone(as he has a tendency to lack inflection). He loves dancing, but is not very good at it. Better than his fellow squires, though. His swordsmanship skills are progressing, getting better and better the older he gets and the more experience he gains. He is good with throwing axes. He has a strange bowmanship skill, which he hides. His eyes will glow red when aiming and he can make the most amazing shots on first picking up a bow and arrow. He can make shots believed impossible for a standard longbow. When, if, he uses a bow and arrow, he tends to lose site of everything and goes into a sort of hyper focus on archery, such that he doesn't always remember what happened. It doesn't matter how heavy a bow, he can still fire and make a magnificent shot. He hides this strange ability of his, and avoids using the bow and arrow.

Background and History: Gudmund was born and raised in Normandy. His lineage is almost purely Scandinavian. At age 7 he was sent to become a page for a lord. At age 15, he became a squire and worked his way to become one of the top fighters among his fellow squires. Thankfully, knights were not typically using bows, so he could avoid using the bow and arrow all together. Apparently his grandfather was called the Demon Archer of Normandy and passed away the day he was born.
Gudmund joined the crusade to the Holy Land at the time it was declared and followed Robert Curthose when he gathered his force to go to the Holy Land. Gudmund hoped to become a squire to another knight and stay in the Holy Land after they took it from the Saracens and the Fatimids, rather than go back to Europe.
Ever since entering the Levant, Gudmund has lost many friends and fellow squires. He marched alongside Raymond of Toulouse to Jerusalem, as the leader he followed was Robert of Normandy, who had become a vassal of Raymond of Toulouse. He would have preferred to follow Bohemund of Taranto or Godfrey of Bouillon rather than the old man known as Raymond of Toulouse. Luckily, after reaching Jerusalem, Robert Curthose went with Godfrey of Bouillon, leaving Raymond of Toulouse. Now, maybe Gudmund would meet the great leader known as Godfrey of Bouillon.
Time to start welding scrap metal to the hull to protect against meteors. We're gonna be in drydock for awhile, compadres!
somehow I think ships would be designed so that the hulls could bear that damage by this time period, because of meteor showers and floating rocks and small debris. I think a better reason would be ricochet, because the 5.56 round does have a tendency to ricochet anyways.

Ooh, nice. Clever of you guys to put either/or in your job slot, that way people are more likely to get something they want. Well, he looks good but i'd say limit your weapons to about four or five choices for now. as for content, any of those guns are alright. However, I won't stop you, but if you plan on doing any boarding, I'd suggest shotguns for the task, and would recommend not taking assault rifles 'til you have a sealed combat suit. You might punch a hole in the, uh, hull. Buckshot isn't as bad though.

Alright, I managed to cut it down, but I hope we have some good .50 cal Anti-material rifles.

Just in case the picture above isn't working

Bio: He was born on the planet Carthago IV, a very desolate planet, hot and dry. Take Texas and put it into an entire planet and that's Carthago IV. The wildlife is most of the time dangerous. The people who are raised there tend to be the toughest, and usually don't leave, as many take up ranching for a living. Otis was a special case, as he enlisted in the Terran Marines and served for several years, fighting strange and fantastical enemies as well as typical human enemies. He's been deployed to some of the worst planets in the Universe and has become very resilient as a result.
After he left the Terran Marines, he became a security contractor as well as a part time gunsmith on Torsun II and seemed to get stuck there, looking for a quick way out.

Personality: He's usually rather terse, and can be very insensitive or awkward when he has to focus on mechanical work and someone attempts to converse with him. Even so, when he is relaxing after a hard days work, he is an enjoyable person to be around. He just likes to keep his business and social life separate. Business before pleasure.
Gear: He has quite a selection of weapons in his personal collection:
-Barrett M82
-IMI Tavor
-AA12
-H&K MP7
-Beretta 92FS
Skills: Gunsmithing. Firearms training with just about every firearm. Combat training. Basic Infantry training. Advanced Infantry Training. He has plenty of welding experience. Some ship welding, but mostly farm equipment.
