I will write them losing. And I will cooperate. But my faction, group, organization, whatever, are based on doing what they can do to fulfill their job, and profit from it. As long as they profit, they don't care much what they do, as long as it stays within their area of expertise. They have no real military, since they don't have the population, And they don't have the population, nor do they have the funds to completely utilize their technology.
They work with others, both from giving and holding strong at times, to keep going. I am not going to run them to the ground, nor am I going to try and run them to world domination. That isn't in their job description.

If you are not constantly trying to take and keep the advantage, then you suck at life. Life is all about taking advantages and assets wherever you can. If you lay back, let resources pass by and just do nothing, you will find yourself in a ditch, with nothing, after some guy just took all you had.

Gun restriction laws, including magazine, the type of gun, and where you can shoot it
Federal control. If the Feds show up, every other person has a rifle. Go away, Feds, we own ourselves
The Union is applicable in most other states. Do not go into a rural bar in Texas, and starting chanting crap pro-Union. You will find yourself fighting the second Civil War.

I don't need the machine for the magic. I need the machine for how it directed it. Magic is just another energy, and it's a generator, not a bunch of Equestrians shoving their heads together. I'm not looking for the magic, I'm looking for how it was directed. The design, not the item itself.

The core territory of the Equestrians is being investigated by Supremes. Going to any major economic & military Equestrian world, and you'll find at least a single Supreme Warship in orbit, and you'll be hailed and redirected.
And this is why you were a fool. Anyone that focuses & uses a single tactic, resource, or idea too often open themselves to disaster, completely basing EVERYTHING on a single energy that can't even be explained. The Equestrians, and the person that played them, were true fools because of that. There is specialty in certain fields, and then there is just plain overextension in that field. For example, magic becomes the link that causes destruction rather than power, and kills off an entire empire, creating a huge power gap that is currently being filled by EVERYONE.
And I'm going to ignore that, since everyone has something of technological value. Just because you don't want anyone to get anything from your nation means that your wishes will come true, because you're a mod. A nation that big will have salvageable technology, I don't give a poop about what you think. I'm not going to go off with rainbow lasers, of course, since they are much too ridiculous, but I will be finding bits and pieces, especially with that handy-dandy supershield stuff you have. Not to make my own supershields, mind you, since they are already powerful, but just to make them more durable.

To say there is no technology would be to say that everything is made of magic, which I am quite sure, it isn't. I can understand things being held together with magic, and with many major thinks being held together with magic, but I do not see absolutely everything having major magical influence. It would:
A) Be a sign of a foolish empire. Anyone who relies too heavily on a few resources will be a fool, since if there were ever an effective counter or blockage, there would be nothing good to repair, build, or continue on with
B) Be foolish in itself, everything being completely unrecoverable. I can see how wreckage from a battle could be non-salvageable, since fighters or turrets could be used to damage it beyond recognition, but there was no one alive.
If any other nation is destroyed, there is salvage. What makes you so special that makes the laws of unspoken rules not apply to you? If the energy source disappears, does the entire city suddenly become nothing but concrete dust?
